ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Gets April 26th US Release

The new ASUS Eee Pad Transformer has already kicked off in Europe one month ago, and is now proceeding in North America. The 10.1-inch Transformer which has an IPS display panel under the lid alongside a 1280 by 800 HD screen resolution on top of it, comes in a variety of flavors and is said to be available for retail purchasing on Tuesday, April 26th, with prices starting at $399 for the 16GB model, while the 32GB version will cost you $499 – exactly like a WiFi only iPad 16GB model. As for the docking station – Well…I guess it will set you back roughly an extra $150 above base price, which seems quite attractive, isn’t it?

Update: And looks like the Asus Transformer US release day has been an overwhelming success so far. The $400 10.1-inch Honeycomb device is now officially “sold out” online both in Amazon and Best Buy. Well, that makes a lot of sense considering the overflowing amount of excitement that we keep hearing from many tech fans.

Motorola Xoom $599 WiFi Only Version Goes Up For Pre-Order on B&H

If you’re thinking of looking more into this Motorola Xoom Android Honeycomb tablet, but paying $800 isn’t exactly your kind of thing, then you’ve just come to the right place because New York-based retailer B&H has just listed the much anticipated wifi-only Motorola XOOM version online, and it allows people pre-order theirs today for only $599. And while shipping dates are yet to be determined, the number of units offered for sale is said to be very limited. We’re guessing that a “1st week of April” time frame was just made for the fools, eh?

Update1: It looks like B&H isn’t the only one to sell the Motorola Xoom sans 3G connectivity for the bargain price of $599. As a matter of fact a few other giant retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, RadioShack, Sam’s Club, Staples, and even Walmart are said to be offering the Honeycomb tablet, starting March 27th of this year, and not a single day before. Full PR after the break.

Update2: And the WiFi-only Motorola Xoom is finally up for preorder from both Best Buy and Future Shop in Canada, and set to ship on April 8th, with the same US price tag ($599.99).

Update3: Word on the street is that the 10.1-inch WiFi-only Xoom tablet should be getting Google’s latest and greatest Android 3.1 update ”within the next several weeks.” In that regard, we’re guessing that the upcoming upgrade will not skip the 3G-enabled devices, which are more expensive, to say the least. More details at the official Motorola support forum.

Samsung Galaxy Tab II Breaks Cover at The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (Update: Now Official)

It wasn’t so long ago that Samsung launched its new 7-inch iPad killer, also known as the Galaxy Tab. And although we haven’t had much time to play with it, as much as we wanted, the Android-powered device has definitely won us over. But as you all probably know, good things with technological advances move forward at light speed, and so does Samsung, that seems ready and set to roll out a Galaxy Tab successor at the MWC 2011 event, which kicks out today. Well, that’s what the rumor says, and so does the following picture that features Sammy’s second-gen tablet (Galaxy Tab II), running an Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform, along with a 10.1-inch display, at 1280 x 800 resolution, 16/32GB of internal storage, and a 1GHz processor attached on board. Word on the street has it that it’d also include an 8 megapixel camera with HD video capabilities, but there’s no official confirmation yet either way. Please stay tune as we gather more information about Samsung’s upcoming tablet.

Update1: It looks like the rumors that were flying around about a new Galaxy Tab II device have finally been confirmed, as multiple media outlets are reporting that Samsung has officially unveiled its latest and greatest 10.1-inch Android Honeycomb tablet, namely Galaxy Tab 10.1 (and not Galaxy Tab II as we first thought), with a 3.5mm jack, a SIM card slot, an inbuilt gyro plus accelerometer, 16GB or 32GB of storage, a front-facing 2 megapixel webcam alongside a rear 8 megapixel camera, boasting a LED flash and 1080p capturing capabilities, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a pair of stereo speakers and a powerful dual-core Tegra 2 processor on board. Pricing details are to be released closer to the market launch, which according to Samsung, is set to take place in Asia and Europe somewhere this March.  Full PR and specs chart are right after the jump.

Update2: We’ve just added a quick hands on video of Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab 10.1, courtesy of the phonedog YouTube page. Check it out after the break.

Update3: If any of you have been waiting for Samsung’s second-gen Galaxy Tab pricing or availability details to show up, it seems like Vodafone has just got the news for you and the Tab II will be hitting Vodafone Portugal sometime this March for €699, while the Spanish branch will offer the new Samsung tablet for €349 on-contract sometime this spring.

Update4: We’ve just added a great and thorough Galaxy Tab walk-through video. Check it out after the break.

Acer’s Android Tablet Gets Demoed on Video

OH! What’s this? Looks like someone has finally managed to put his hands on Acer’s 10.1-inch Android Froyo tablet a lot earlier than expected. While details are still scarce, it appears that the 1GHz dual-core processor machine, which boasts a 1280×800 screen resolution and runs 1080p files stutter free, is having some sort of a new gyro UI that can barely handle preloaded apps for switching between photos, or jumping from one e-reader stuff to another. That said, you’ll have to bare in mind it’s still in a beta stage and that the real thing (which presumably packs Honeycomb OS inside) is likely to run much much better. Hit the jump to watch the three videos.

RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Gets a Comprehensive Video Demo

The Blackberry Playbook tablet has been pretty elusive so far. But thanks to RIM’s David Neale, who recently gave a talk at Rogers TabLife TO conference, we finally got a huge piece of the pie, and suffice it to say we’re pretty impressed. The 10.1-inch prototype device which was unveiled on stage in a very thorough 17 minute walkthrough video features RIM Playbook’s impeccable HD video playback capabilities, along with the smooth and very responsive multy-touch UI and the fact that this powerful dual-core device will indeed support 4G connectivity. Already curious? Hit the jump to watch the video.

Update: Word on the street is that Motorola’s 10-inch Honeycomb tablet will presumably include a 1GHz Tegra 2 T20 chip, along with a 1280 x 800 multitouch screen, 512MB of RAM, an integrated gyroscope and 32GB of storage. Ports wise, there’s an HDMI out paired with a microSD card slot, a micro USB hub, a 3.5mm headphone jack and some sort of a proprietary output, for a possible future dock. Stay tuned, there’s plenty more to come.

Toshiba NB520 and NB500 Netbooks Officially Announced

Toshiba has recently announced two new additions to its most popular netbooks lineup: the NB500 and the NB520. Both models, slated for release during the first quarter of 2011, are said to include a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 LED-backlit display, along with up to 2GB of RAM, 250GB HDD, 3 x USB ports, Windows 7 Starter edition, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, and a 10 hours battery pack. The main difference between the two, and probably the one you’re wondering about, is a pair of built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers (2 watts each) that will help you take your NB520 sound experience to a whole new audio level. In addition to the physical differences, the NB520 also comes with an Atom N550 processor while its younger brother, the NB500, boasts a slightly slower CPU, an Atom N455. Unfortunately, there are no leaks of information about the prices of these netbooks, but color wise, both models are claimed to be available in a good selection of bright and vivid colors including Brown, Blue, Lime Green, Turquoise and Orange – coated with a soft rubber flavor. Full PR is right after the break together with Toshiba’s official NB520 video.

Acer To Launch a 10.1-inch Windows 7 Tablet

As if the big Android tablets announcement wasn’t enough, Acer also announced that it would be launching a 10.1-inch Windows 7 device. And while we are still awaiting further details on what this tablet should be packing inside, external outfit will measure 15mm thick and somewhere around the 2.2 pounds. Interestingly, it is said to have an AMD processor on board rather than an Intel Atom CPU or perhaps a Qualcomm Snapdragon one. Surely, it will offer some sort of a docking station to buy, along with dual 1.3MP cameras, WiFi connectivity and a 3G HSDPA WWAN. Stay tuned for plenty more to come.

Upate1: The guys over at DigiTimes are now reporting that Acer  plans to use AMD’s dual-core C-50 Ontario APU inside its next 10.1-inch Windows 7 tablet. The impact of these news on a day-to-day use is actually huge – This will not only improve performance (thanks to the built-in Radeon HD 6250 graohics chip), it will also lower the power consumption dramatically (9W only). That is, of course, if all these mind-changing rumors are true. Stay tuned.

Update2: And looks like Acer’s Windows-powered Iconia W500 tablet is finally up for pre-order for $549, with shipping starting Friday, April 15 and a line of specs that includes a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen display, a 1GHz Ontario (C-50) AMD Fusion processor, up to 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, HDMI out, three/six-cell battery at your choice, and an AMD Radeon HD 6250 card for the graphics. Interesting stuff happening within the Microsoft-tablets climate.

Dell’s 10.1-Inch Inspiron Duo Netbook / Tablet Hybrid Introduced

It’s day two at Intel’s IDF 2010 summit and it’s finally heating up, literally and metaphorically, as Dell officially announces a neat 10.1-inch swiveling netbook / tablet hybrid machine, running Windows 7 Premium for the OS and boasting Intel’s dual-core Atom N550 processor under the lid. Unfortunately, we’re still in the very early stages so nothing juicy to share – that means you’ll have to wait for a while in order to get price, availability details and other interesting specs – but hey, you can always hit the jump and check this fresh jkkmobile video that will give you a good sense of style, before you take or decide not to take any further steps.

Hannspree Rolls Out a 10.1-Inch Android 2.2 Tablet With Tegra 2 Chipset

Hannspree is no stranger for us at this website, but frankly it’s not as popular as other established companies you may well know. Nevertheless, you might still find it interesting, especially with that new 10.1-inch multi-touch tablet which the company has recently shown. Basically, for the €399 (about $505) that Hannspree is asking for, you’ll buy yourself a nice and lavish Android 2.2 device, packing a 1,024 x 600 capacitive display with 16GB of internal storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, a built-in accelerometer, HDMI output and one USB host. Oh what a hottie we have in here…A brand new Eee PC netbooks lineup with Intel’s dual-core, mobile Atom N550 processor included? Apparently yes, that’s exactly what Taiwanese corp Asus is planning for us in the coming months. The first version in that group is the 1015PEM, which boasts the new 1.5GHz N550 CPU, paired with a 10.1-inch (1024×600) LED display, 0.3MP webcam, up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 160/250/320 GB HDD at your choice, Intel’s GMA X3150 for the graphics and Windows 7 Starter edition for the OS platform – all priced competitively at €349 (about $440). Toshiba’s Rumored Smart Pad Device Makes The Unofficial Apperance

We have known for quite some time now that Japanese electronics giant Toshiba is working towards a brand new tablet device – And now, it seems like the good guys at Notebook Italia have apparently managed somehow to get some detailed footage of the company’s alleged technology wonder. Basically, there’s nothing much to report at this point besides the fact it packs both USB and HDMI ports, paired with a memory card reader slot to their right, and a 3.5mm headphone jack to their left. In addition, there are four touch buttons up front the black slick display, implying the whole thing will probably run a Google Android platform inside. More about that at this year’s IFA event which takes place a week and a half from now.

Update1: Rumor has it that Toshiba’s brand new Smart Pad tablet is going to officially be called Folio 100. Other than that, the 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) Android2.2 device is said to include 16GB of internal memory along SD and MMC card readers, 3G WWAN, Bluetooth, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi connections, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 7 hours battery pack, HDMI / USB 2.0 connectors and last but not least, NVIDIA Tegra 2 to smoothly handle  your 1080p graphics. Look under the hood and you are likely to find an Opera mobile browser, paired with variant office apps, e-book reader capabilities and Flash 10.1 support. Stay tuned for more updates next week, when IFA kicks off.

Update2: Rumors has been officially confirmed, Toshiba’s new tablet device is now called Folio 100. The 10.1-incher does run an Android 2.1 OS and comes with 16GB of storage along with a front-facing a 1.3 megapixel camera, capacitive multitouch display and a bunch of etched touch buttons placed on the right side of the bezel on top.

Axon Logic’s 10.1-Inch Haptic Tablet Goes Live With Full Desktop OS Support

It’s not everyday that we stumble upon a 10.1-inch tablet machine that can actually live with a large variety of systems onboard. At first we weren’t even sure it was possible (dual boot aside), but with Axon Logic’s latest and greatest Haptic device, we may well find ourselves proven wrong. Generally speaking, it’s one of those ordinary tablets running Intel’s Atom processor inside with 2GB of RAM, 320GB of storage, one resistive 10.1-inch touchscreen and three speedy USB 2.0 ports. But with all due respect to those basic netbook-like inner parts this bad boy boasts, the big story here is the (unlicensed) Linux, Windows and Mac OS platforms that the company has apparently managed to make the Haptic work with and provided full compatibility and support. Of course, this privilege does not come cheap (about $750) so be sure to have your check book at the ready if you find yourself shopping Axon Logic’s tablet instead of other attractive alternatives, available across the pond.

Remember ASUS’s next generation Eee PC netbooks lineup which we first saw on CeBIT back in February? Well, turns out they’re already out of “prep” mode and finally ready to make it out to the market. These three models we speak about are the Eee PC 1015, 1016 and 1018, as the first one, the 1015 model – that doesn’t have any price or availability details yet – is said to go live later this year, while the other two, 1016 and 1018 – both coated with a nice sort of a metal brush cover – are rumored to arrive the US market somewhere around August, as the 1018P is going to cost you $429.99, and in exchange will offer a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, along 1GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and three USB 3.0 ports. The third in the group is the 1016P, which will set you back for $499.99 that will buy you that same Atom N455 processor, this time tucked with 2GB of memory and 320GB of storage. Stay tuned for a lot more to come.

Update: And looks like the 1018p and 1015p models are already up on on Best Buy’s online store and ready for your orders.
