While most of us have already forgotten about netbooks, Asus is said to launch a new line of ultra-mini laptops a few moments ahead of CES 2012. Now, whether it will be at hit is another question, but in the meantime, we’re talking about the next generation of netbook devices, dubbed Eee PC Flare, which boasts some nice and vivid seashell covers that hide underneath the new N2600 and N2800 Atom CPUs, 12-inch displays, powered by AMD’s Fusion APU lineup and those fancy chiclet keyboards. For now, the Taiwanese corp is planning to launch two models in that size: The 1225B AMD Fusion and 1225C with Cedar Trail, but if rumors are correct, we should expect some 10-incher flavors in the long term, as well (with the 1025C and 1025CE versions). Stay tuned for much more to come.

Update: As promised, we have some more details about the new collection of netbooks from Asus, called Eee PC Flare. Basically, there are four major models included: At 10-inch, there’s the 1025C that comes with a 1.6GHz Atom N2600 dual-core GPU, 1GB of DDR3-1333 memory, an integrated Intel UMA graphics, built-in Altec Lansing stereo speakers, three USB 2.0 ports,  802.11b/g/n WiFi connectivity, 2-in-1 media card reader, VGA / HDMI outputs, a six-cell battery, and 0.3 megapixel webcam up front. It will be offered for $299 with one of the following flavors: Red, Blue, Gray, Pink, and last but not least, there’s a Windows 7 for the OS running on board. The Eee Pc Flare 1025CE is pretty much the same, only with a 1.86GHz Atom N2800 dual-core processor and a few more bucks ($319) to cover the cost.

On to the 12.1-inch models, the 1225B includes a 1.6GHz AMD E-450 dual-core CPU, a a 1,366 x 768 screen resolution, 2GB of DDR3-1333 memory, integrated Intel graphics, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a 2-in-1 media card reader, a six-cell battery, and a  a 0.3 megapixel webcam on top. It comes with a Windows 7 Home Premium and ships next month in black, red and white colors. The last one in that group is the Eee PC X101CH version that is aimed at entry-level users, with a 10.1-inch 1,024 x 600 display, 1GB of RAM, integrated graphics, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB and VGA ports. It’ll only set you back $269 and not a penny more.

CES 2011 is just around the corner, and companies are starting to throw some chum in the proverbial waters. In a new one-and-a-half-minute video that recently showed up across the pond, Asus is teasing us with its most anticipated 12-inch Windows 7-based tablet, which according to officials, is set to take off  in exactly eleven days, at the most famous electronic show around the world. We’re still not sure whether this is the EP121 tablet we’ve already seen earlier this year, or something completely new that the Taiwanese have been working on, behind the scenes, for a couple of months or even more. One way or another, the pictures below clearly indicate that Asus’ next ”Eee Slate” device will be packing a Core i5 Intel processor, along with an HDMI output, usb port, an integrated webcam, SD card reader and a Microsoft office package that the laptops-giant is planning to preload on board. Update1: Asus has launched a new teaser for their upcoming Android tablets, the Eee Pad and Eee Slate, with what appears to be a USB 3.0 port, etched into the chassis, along with some sort of a portrait oriented slide-out keyboard panel, accompanied by a batch of Android buttons, stamped onto its top. Update2: And…we have another teaser from Asus. This time we’re talking about time couple of images featuring the company’s upcoming tablets lineup, pictured in all its glory. The first device in that series appears to be the EP121 that presumably boasts some sort of a stylus pen along with a wireless keyboard support. Up next, is the EP102 with that fancy keyboard, attached into a sliding touchscreen, and then we have the EP101 which looks quite similar, only as a netbook form factor. Oh what a hottie we have in here…A brand new Eee PC netbooks lineup with Intel’s dual-core, mobile Atom N550 processor included? Apparently yes, that’s exactly what Taiwanese corp Asus is planning for us in the coming months. The first version in that group is the 1015PEM, which boasts the new 1.5GHz N550 CPU, paired with a 10.1-inch (1024×600) LED display, 0.3MP webcam, up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 160/250/320 GB HDD at your choice, Intel’s GMA X3150 for the graphics and Windows 7 Starter edition for the OS platform – all priced competitively at €349 (about $440). The second group member is the 1015PN, which is rumored to make a US debut next month with NVIDIA’s Ion 2 module and some other cool goodies inside. Stay tuned for a lot more to come.

Update: Looks like Amazon is finally stepping up and offering the 10.1-inch Asus 1015PN netbook with both Intel’s dual-core 1.5GHz Atom N550 processor and Nvidia ION 2 graphics for $429.99 only. Shipping dates, however, are yet to be determined.

Remember ASUS’s next generation Eee PC netbooks lineup which we first saw on CeBIT back in February? Well, turns out they’re already out of “prep” mode and finally ready to make it out to the market. These three models we speak about are the Eee PC 1015, 1016 and 1018, as the first one, the 1015 model – that doesn’t have any price or availability details yet – is said to go live later this year, while the other two, 1016 and 1018 – both coated with a nice sort of a metal brush cover – are rumored to arrive the US market somewhere around August, as the 1018P is going to cost you $429.99, and in exchange will offer a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, along 1GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and three USB 3.0 ports. The third in the group is the 1016P, which will set you back for $499.99 that will buy you that same Atom N455 processor, this time tucked with 2GB of memory and 320GB of storage. Is that a trend or what? A second Asus AMD-powered netbook announced in a matter of one single week. The latest, called Eee PC 1201K, is said to run an AMD Geode NX 1750 processor paired with a SiS 741GX/966L chipset. Basically it’s a 12.1-inch mini laptop device, housing a 1GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, multi-card reader, an integrated 0.3mp webcam and surprise-surprise – a Windows XP inside, really? anyway, price or availability are yet to be determined.

Oh, what do we have here? Another 10.1-inch netbook? Well, it’s not just another one, because this boy, Asus Eee PC 1015T, apparently packs an AMD V105 processor inside and a relatively strong ATI Radeon HD 4200 GPU for the graphics. And whether it looks similar to the Eee PC 1015P/PE or not, it sports a really impressive specs lineup, including up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 250/320/500GB storage capacities to choose from, 802.11b/n WiFi plus Bluetooth 3.0,  Windows 7 Started edition, a 6-cell battery and even a pair of  USB 3.0 ports. The Eee PC 1201PN is a relatively new netbook from Asus sporting the new Intel Atom N450 processor, paired with a 12.1-inch 1366×768 display and Nvidia’s Ion 2 graphics platform onboard. However, while this specific model lacked the discrete Optimus switching gear that enables users to easily jump between Intel and Nvidia cards, and by doing so, save some precious battery life on the go, a newer version – the Eee PC 1215 – that does everything the former one did, and even more, is said to support Nvidia’s Optimus feature and let you choose between those two graphics modes. Still with no price or availability dates to share at this point, the latest 1215 netbook also packs a dual-core Atom D510 processor, tucked with a pair of audio jacks, Ethernet, SD card slot, HDMI output, a bigger trackpad surface to flip around, and a nice matte cover lid that will hopefully reject any fingerprints, smudges and other kind of nasty spots. And if that wasn’t enough, check this out – the Taiwanese giant has also added a couple of blue speedy USB 3.0 ports, placed on the right side of the box – Huzzah! Update1: Looks like the Eee PC 1215N has just turned official with all the good and powerful things inside. Apparently, it would run a 1.8GHz dual-core Intel Atom D525 processor that has no troubles handling NVIDIA’s Ion discrete graphics on that 12-inch 1,366 x 768 display the netbook boasts. Update2: US debut is scheduled for mid-end of August, with both NVIDIA’s Optimus and Ion 2 graphics components already included and a very competitive “under $500″ price tag to make you want it even more.

Still out of public reach, Asus design team has unofficially revealed its latest metal-inspired creation, the Eee PC 1218, which apparently won the 2010 Red Dot design award for the slim and light clamshell shape that covers this netbook from bottom to top. From the limited info available at this point, it suppose to have a chiclet keyboard, integrated with a built-in webcam right on front. There’s a VGA connection at the back of Asus next mini laptop, paired with dual 3.5mm audio jacks, HDMI out, Ethernet, SD card reader and three USB slots. Price or availability are yet to be determined, but it sure gives hope when you read that the Eee PC 1218 will also include a one-piece aluminum palm rest to let your arms comfortably lean forward when you type your unconventional post.

At first glance, the latest Asus Eee PC 1001PX is just the typical Pine Trail netbook machine you all should be expecting, with this wide glossy 10.1-inch display, powered by Intel’s Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, 9 hours of  battery life and Windows 7 Starter edition to handle things around – this ain’t new, we’ve already seen it before, right?  That been said, a closer look at this thin-n-slim Seashell formed laptop  device would likely change your minds. Why, you’re asking? It’s that stunning carbon-fiber coat that tops the cover lid, all the way down, granting the 1001PX a nice premium look, rather than a fingerprints magnet hood that would ridiculously cost ‘ya only $299 (or $20 less in case you’re more into the old fashioned XP style).

Asus has already proved it can go hand-to-hand with tech pace and bring up-to-date laptops that match the latest criteria one by one. And that is probably the reason the company has just released the Eee PC 1201PN, a Pine Trail netbook powered by Nvidia’s ION 2 graphics that suppose to replace the 6 months old 1201N which had the same looks, only with ION’s first chipset edition and a previous Atom N330 CPU version. The new one, which was spotted at the Taiwanese booth in CeBIT, packs a 12.1-inch 1366×768 LED display, along that Atom N450 Pine Trail processor, and NVIDIA’s Ion 2 for the graphics tone. Other than that, the 1201PN offers basic specs like 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi connection, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and 6 cell battery with working hours “TBD”. Update: And looks like the 12.1-inch ASUS Eee PC 1201PN, powered by ION 2 chipset, is now available on Amazon for a starting price of $484, which seems pretty impressive if we take into consideration that really amazing lineup, which includes a Intel Atom N450 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and NVIDIA GeForce 201M for the graphics.

Haven’t heard from Asus lately? Fret not, because the Taiwanese giant is rumored to go out with a new netbooks lineup at the CeBIT show, next week in Hanover, Germany and we’re here to tell the plot. Apparently there are three 10.1-inch mini laptops included in Asus coming release, as two of them, 1016P and 1018P are aimed to target the highly competitive business world with a premium aluminum chassis and battery that works up to 14 hours long, while the latter, 1018p boasts a slim 0.7-inch body, an integrated fingerprint reader and the next-gen USB 3.0 slot (!). The third model, 1015p, that suppose to refresh Asus’ 1005pE version, is claimed to be inspired by Macbooks mode with a nice chiclet keyboard, a matte display and a bigger trackpad floor. We’ll find out more on that next week at the show.

Update: We’re told that the 1018p version will also offer Intel N455 and N475 processors inside and that Bluetooth 2.1+EDR is also included while Bluetooth 3.0 is optional. Checkout the quick video preview after the break.

It’s been a while since we’ve last seen a tablet netbook from Asus, but thanks to the FCC division we’re finally getting a chance to see their new and latest swivel-enabled ultra-portable mate, the Eee PC T101MT, which crams a 10.1-inch 1024 x 768 resistive multitouch display along with 160GB or 320GB capacities at your choice, 1.6GHz Atom N450 CPU, Windows 7, up to 2GB of RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 connection, 0.3 mp webcam and a battery that can deliver up to 6.5 hours of work time. Ports list includes a VGA output, SD/SDHC/SDXC card reader, three USB hubs and Ethernet jack, tucked into black or white body flavors. We’ve already seen that Eee PC 1008P, coated with alligator patterns upside down, back in December 2009. At that time, we were told it would be branded as a “Seashell 2″ edition, but now, when it’s officially out, we know for sure it’s a Pine Trail netbook, packing Atom N450 processor inside. Designed by Karim Rashid, the hot pink/coffee brown machine runs a Windows 7 Home Premium under a 10.1-inch hood, which also hides within 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, Intel’s GMA 3150 graphics, 1.3MP camera, and a cool swappable 3-cell battery, providing up to 6 hours life. It looks like Asus wants to make it harder and harder to decide which netbook should be better for us to buy. And after the company already announced the 1005P/1005PE Pine Trail netbooks which suppose to be released somewhere around mid-January, it now releases for pre-orders the Eee PC 1001P that boasts exactly the same 1.6GHz Intel Atom N450 CPU, but includes only Windows XP preloaded inside, instead of the popular newcomer, Windows 7 Starter. Besides that single core Atom processor, the new portable clamshell-style machine will also include a 10.1-inch 1024 × 600 display, along Intel’s GMA3150 graphics, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a 0.3-MP webcam, WiFi, Mic and a 4400 mAh battery. Amazon.de has it listed for your pre-orders at €249 (about $360) and shipping is set to the 3rd week of 2010. No signs for US appearance at this point.

Update: Looks like Amazon US finally adds the Asus 1001P to its netbook listing with that same specs mentioned up, for $339.99.

Not that anyone was getting surprised reading it – but for those of you who were disconnected from RSS feeds lately, and deprived themselves of glancing at any tech news, mind you that a second set of  Intel Pine Trail platform is about to hit the netbooks scene, and should be out at any moment. And Taiwanese corp Asus, to be one of the first to unveil its latest state-of-the-art lineup, which apparently includes two Eee PC Seashell machines, both pack Intel’s 1.66GHz Atom N450 “Pineview” CPUs (45-nanometer), as the first one, Eee PC 1005P, houses a 160GB hard drive, basic 6-cell Li-ion battery and matte 10-inch 1024×768 LED backlit screen, while the second, Eee PC 1005PE, comes with a bigger, 250GB HDD, stronger 6-cell Li-ion battery, more powerful Intel GMA 3150 graphics and that same size 10-inch display, only with a glossy panel integrated inside. The two, will be offered either in Black or White flavors, at the time they will be released – January 11th – priced at £211 ($345) and £235 ($380), respectively. Asus, as you may have heard, has planned to introduce this cool Pinky-flavored Seashell 2 netbook (1008P), designed by Karim Rashid, next month at the CES show, but the guys at HardwareZone apparently managed to take some photos of this foursquare textured wonder a lot before its time. From what we know so far, it’s going to include Intel’s latest N450 processor, along a 10-inch display, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD and VGA output, stuffed into a mini-USB adapter. Other ports are closed behind small compartment doors and additional battery (if you have one at your disposal) now has a special room to hide, right at the back.  Besides that, we have no other details to share, so be patient until next month and meanwhile, enjoy the Taiwanese new Eee PC style.

So, Google has finally rolled out its highly expected Chrome OS, which was demoed live across the net by Mountain View’s engineers few hours ago, and practically suppose to go out somewhere towards next year’s holiday season. Regretfully, the system won’t be free and it seems you’ll have to buy it pre-installed on portable devices approved by Google, either it’s a netbook, tablet PCs, smartphones, MIDs, etc. The Chrome OS is said to include third-party applications, but won’t support, at this point, any Android materials. The system itself is based on Linux and the Chrome browser, both packed together to run on a web-based platform that will operate any outside content, coming from USB drives or other different sources. Basically, it’s a cloud system but that should not set you apart from it, unless you guys really afraid of taking new tech “adventures” and start new liabilities. Nevertheless, the operating system will run everything that was originally placed in the application panel – and we’re talking about features like Gmail, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Hulu, Google Talk and many more. Google Docs was also included in Google’s OS compatibility list, while drivers from other companies, such as Flash and Silverlight suppose to work as well (although Google wasn’t very clear about it and has chosen to say this: “We are working hard to integrate plugins closely”).

Hardware wise, details are scarce at the moment, and Google will not share those nitty gritty things until next year, but looking at the overall picture, Chrome OS will probably run in compatibility with both x86 and ARM processors, while regular hard-drives support seems to be excluded  – which means you’ll have to use SSDs instead. In general, booting time is set to load up in 7 seconds only, and login process will take 3 seconds more. That, in our opinion, should do best with any standard netbook available in the market, now and in the future (with SSD drives), and just in case you were wondering, Google itself was using an Eee PC machine to run the demo for the first time.

Update2: Looks like Google’s Chrome OS is now available free, in case you’re using a VMWare software on your desktop machine. The good part is that you don’t need to actually make it your primary bootable system at all, and by running any VirtualBox software, you can set any of your system folders to be used as a Chrome OS unit. If you think you’re qualified for using this pre Beta platform, you can download the image either from this torrent (we have no clue about this source background) or the build the guys at GDGT recently uploaded. TechCrunch team was all over it in passing hours as well, so you can read their step-by-step instructions in here, if you don’t feel safe to do it on your own.

Update3: Dell Mini 10V owners can now install the Chrome OS as their primary operating system, thanks to a Dell employee who’s managed to hack the USB-bootable edition via WiFi and make it available on Dell’s popular mini laptop, despite fussy restrictions from Mountain View’s direction. Truth is it’s not the perfect OS and in fact, many things are yet to be solved, but for early adopters who are willing to give it a try – it should probably be a great experience that’s worth a shot. Update4: Mac and Linux users can finally use the Google Chrome Beta-version browser with their computing machines – as Mountain View’s searching giant officially announces in its blog. We knew it was just a matter of time until netbooks would eventually show up with Windows 7 bundled inside, and now that Microsoft’s superb operating system is officially up – looks like Redmond’s moment of truth has finally come. The new Seashell style models the Taiwanese actively plan for a mid-November launch are the 1005HR-WS and 1005HE-WS, which both include a 10.1-inch display, along with an Atom N280 processor, 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, a 0.3MP webcam and a 6-cell battery with up to 8.4 hours of working life. However, while the 1005HR-WS packs a WXGA platform (1366 x 768 resolution) and 250GB hard drive storage, its fellow, the 1005HE-WS, boasts a WSVGA flavor (whatever that means) and either 250GB HDD or 160GB HDD, to pick at your choice. Japan prices mention ¥49,800 ($545) for the “HR” edition, as “HE” buns will run for ¥46,800 ($510) or ¥44,800 ($490), depends on size.

For many, the 1005HA is probably considered as one of the best netbooks available around, but that as a fact didn’t seem to stop Asus from launching another. The latest, recently emerged in Japan, was tagged as a “business edition” flavor, which frankly, has nothing exceptional inside. In any case, for $700(!) you get yourself an Atom N280 processor, tucked with a 10.1-inch display, 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Windows XP Professional edition (no Windows 7?) and a 10.5 hours battery, for every single charge. Well, not exactly the best deal out there, is it?

It’s only been three weeks, since our wondering eyes first came across Asus’ 120N Nvidia Ion-based netbook machine, hiding out in a much speculated Eee PC road map slide that popped out in the wild. And here we are, not so long after, talking about it as a certain thing, scheduled for release somewhere this Autumn with a $500 price tag range and a high resolution 12-inch panel (1,366 x 768). And if we’d all be speaking Chinese well, the 250GB hard drive that Asus has stuffed inside, sitting along with 2GB of RAM, Intel Atom N270 processor, 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11n WiFi connectivity, probably wouldn’t make us surprised – well, maybe this N270 CPU, which seems to be too slow for such an input. Stay tuned, it should be hitting Western shores, packed with a Windows 7 OS, in a month or so.

Update1: Look, the guys from Eee PC Italia just got their hands on Asus 1201N and 1201HA full specs list and shared them online. Basically, both netbook machines will presumably pack a 12-inch 1366 x 768 displays, while the 1201N, which suppose to be the strongest among the two, will include a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N330 dual core processor, 3GB RAM, NVIDIA ION (GeForce 9400M) graphics chipset and 320GB hard drive, as its entry level sibling, the 1201HA suppose to have a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 CPU, along with Intel US15W / GMA 500 graphics, 2GB RAM and 250GB hard drive. Update2: Apparently, Asus Eee PC 1201N is scheduled to be released in Europe somewhere towards the end of the year (AKA: December), with this Atom Dual Core 330 CPU, Nvidia ION graphics chipset and a 12.1 1,366 x 768 display  – all compiled with a Windows 7 OS. Prices are yet to be determined.

Update3: Looks like the 1201N is up in Italy earlier than expected, offered on sale for 500 Euros – huzzah!

Update4: Now it’s official, as Asus has finally released its ION-based Eee PC 1201N machine, with all those nifty specs and cool features we’ve managed to see earlier, which include that 12.1-inch 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display, together with a 1.6GHz dual-core Atom 330 processor, either 2 or 3GB of RAM and storage capacity at 250 or 320GB HDD at your choice. Furthermore, you get a six-cell battery and Windows 7 Premium edition, already loaded aboard and running on your shelves somewhere around December for only $499. Update5: It seems the Eee PC 1201HA’s debut has finally arrived to the US, as Asus’ second 12.1-inch netbook, which sports a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520, together with 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, WiFi, and 6 hours battery, is up on sale on Best Buy, this time for the lower price of $329.99 but with an XP flavor pre-loaded inside. Seven fanboys should be skipping to the 1201N versionto catch up with Redmond’s latest version.

Update6: And, looks like Amazon has the Asus Eee PC 120N listed for pre-order, starting at $499 which will buy you a 12.1-inch display with Intel’s 1.6GHz N330 dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM (up to 8GB), 250GB HDD, WiFi, Bluetooth and last but not least, Microsoft’s Windows 7 Premium edition, already loaded into it. For the UK readers out there, this same version, only with an ION-based chipset will show up on your local Amazon somewhere around January 2010, priced at £399 (about $660). Stay tuned.
