Greenpois0n iOS 4.1 Jailbreak For Windows Users Released

It looks like jailbreaking season has finally started folks, with Apple’s iOS 4.1 most anticipated hack tool, “Greenpois0n”, officially been announced and released to the pond. And while still available just for Microsoft Windows users at the moment (Macs should wait or use VMware/VirtualBox apps to install), this latest update, courtesy of Chronic Dev Team labs, will shine only with Cupertino’s iPhone 4 / 3GS, iPod touch (3rd / 4th generations), and iPad 1st gen devices, already preloaded with iOS 4.1 firmware which turns to be vulnerable to George “geohot” Hotz recent limera1in USB boot ROM jailbreak exploit, that Steve Jobs is likely to block. On his next firmware roll out, that is, of course.

Update: Well…it didn’t take long for both Geohot and the guys at Chronic Dev Team to introduce their own proprietary Mac format into the market (limera1n and greenpois0n), each with varying degrees of advantages and disadvantages of its own. As always, proceed with caution and back up your stuff first, you just never know where troubles might come from.

New iPod nano MP3 Player Announced, Comes With a Revolutionary Multitouch Display

One of the most interesting products that Apple has just rolled out at the Music event yesterday morning is the new iPod nano device which the company has completely revamped and transformed it into a nice squarish touchscreen player. Yes, the 6th generation iPod nano is actually equipped with a neat multi-touch user interface, while the body itself is now 46 percent smaller and 42 percent lighter than previous models. In addition to that, the Cupertino guys have also added couple of hard volume buttons on top and a tiny clip on the back (no more armbands needed). And despite the fact that Apple has officially ditched cool features like the integrated camera or video playback support, It would be still reasonable to shell out $149 for 8 gigs or $179  for double the storage in order to get yourself one, especially now when the new nanos boast a 24 hours battery pack, along with a pedometer, FM radio tuner and even Nike+ support. Full PR and a quick hands-on video (courtesy of Engadget) after the break.

New iPod Touch Players Get iPhone 4 Features Without The Phone

Apple has just updated its iPod Touch PMPs lineup with a new slick model which apparently includes iPhone 4 stunning Retina Display screen, together with a 3-axis gyroscope and that strong Apple A4 chip that will easily support all those brand new features inside such as the great Game Center and the Face-time capabilities which can now be used on iPod Touch players thanks to the latest rear and front-facing camera additions. Cupertino will start taking your pre-orders today as prices start at $229 for 8GB and climbs to $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB. Full PR after the break.

Update1: We’ve just added a quick hands on video, courtesy of Engadget, so check it out after the jump.

Update2: And looks like the iFixit team has done it again and managed to nab one of Apple’s latest and greatest 2010 Apple iPod Touch player in order to tear it apart and eventually expose its inner parts to the world. First results indicate that the new 640 x 960 LCD touchscreen is actually fused to the external glass, while the area between the front end and the battery is protected by an 11-gram EMI shield. Other than that, you’ll find a 3.44Whr Li-Pol cell, firmly soldered to the board, but the headphone jack isn’t. There’s plenty more info at the iFixit website and one image that says it all right after the break.

But fret not, boys and girls, because those cool and very useful features can be easily and quickly restored, thanks to this iPhoneDelivery app which you can find on Cydia, in your phone. According to RedmondPie, it would automatically fix those problems and make them run again in a matter of seconds or just a little bit more.

Update3: And to fulfill completely their commitments to the Apple fanboys community, Dev-Team has just released a new ultrasnow app version that would easily unlock your new magical iPhone 4 device (with 01.59 baseband) or any 3G/3GS mobile phones running 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 05.13.04 basebands. Apple's New iPod Shuffle Announced, More Colors And a Special Edition Version Join The Lineup

With Apple’s fifth-gen nano camera player catching today’s most attention, no one had really thought a new iPod Shuffle series could actually get into Steve Jobs’ busy schedule lineup and be released  – But it did – as Cupertino surprisingly announces a refreshing batch of new colorful shuffle players, spiced with a much welcomed price cut execution that sets the numbers on $59 for the 2GB version and only $79 for the 4GB one. Flavors wise, it seems the shuffle is now being offered in blue, green or pink hues, joining the already exist black and silver tints, as well as a new stainless steel “Special Edition” model, marked as premium and priced higher than others, at $99. Other than that, it pretty much remains the same with that voice over technology reading out your songs list, and battery life that plays your stuff for 10 hours long. Stay tuned.

Apple To Significantly Cut Prices Of iPod Touch, Nano And Classic PMPs (Update: iPod Touch 3G Included)

With one more hour to go before announcing some new players, Apple is now reported to quietly slash down iPod Touch, Nano and Classic iPod prices on Cupertino’s on-line store, as follows:  iPod Touch – Apparently, the 8GB model is now priced at $189 (instead of $229), while 16GB version now stands at $249 (instead of $299), and the 32GB flavor is merely $279 (was $399 before). iPod Nano – The 8GB model will now set you back for $129 (instead of $149), as the 16GB Nano is now offered for only $149 (instead of previous $199). iPod Classic - Gets the competitive price of $229 instead of $249.

Update1: Turns out a new whopping 64GB iPod Touch version is now up and available for $399.

Update2: Looks like the $249 iPod Classic player is now being offered in 160GB storage. That’s extra 40GB to its predecessor.

Update3: So it seems a new iPod Touch 3G is out after all, but regretfully without a camera inside. Prices remain the same but the UI looks a little snappier than previous gen. Surprisingly, the guys at iFixit have managed to find a potential spot for a video camera, that Apple has probably allocated in the top of the device. That said, Steve Jobs already made it clear that Apple won’t integrate any footage features at this point. Stay tuned.

Update4: The guys at engadget have thrown themselves all over the “new” iPod Touch 3G, moments before it goes live. Hit the jump to take a look.

Zune HD Officially Announced, Going Live This Fall

After so many rumors and speculations floating around, Microsoft has finally announced the Zune HD, which suppose to make its first appearance somewhere this fall, competing head-to-head with Apple’s popular iPod Touch player. Regretfully, there’s nothing much to share in terms of specs or features, but from the very few fragments we’ve managed to collect, you briefly can figure out it’ll probably pack a 3.3-inch 480 x 272 OLED capacitive touchscreen, together with a built-in HD Radio receiver, 720P HD output (via dock station), integrated WiFi connection and accelerometer sensors for landscape usability. Additionally, you might find a designated Explorer browser for internet surfing purposes and hopefully, a mashup interface with Xbox / Xbox Live gaming consoles. Still, no pricing or capacity details to write about, although one should expect either 16GB or 32GB flavors inside, but this way or another those rumored images earlier published, make no place for mistakes – Zune HD is live and kicking. Full press release after the break.

Update1: The guys at Gizmodo have managed to put their hands on the freakishly new Zune HD while hanging around D7′s conference hall. Update4: Both BestBuy and Amazon have just listed up the Zune HD on their inventory system , priced at $220 for the 16GB model, and $290 for the 32GB version, coming on September 8th. It’s less than a month to go, so stay tuned.

Sonix7 Media Pro PMP To Make a Debut In The UK

Barely, can you find PMP devices outside the Asian borders with different titles other than iPod, iRiver, Cowon, or Zune. It takes a plenty of guts to make a direct move against those giants, releasing your very own multimedia brand, while most people prefer having one of the noted players. But hands-up, walking against all odds is something we should admire, especially if the company has no clever PR to carry your name throughout the blogsphere. Such company, is S-Tech Digital that recently released the Sonix7 Media Pro PMP, which packs a 3.2-inch touchscreen, together with a built-in camera, a speaker, a neat accelerometer sensor, 30 hours of audio battery that also provides 20 hours of video playback and either 8GB or 16GB capacities to choose from, priced at £89.99 ($136) and £104.99 ($159), respectively. It’s a Britain made MP4 machine and you can checkout the comparison with the iPod Touch player after the break.

Microsoft Preps a New Zune HD For The Summer (Update:Probably September)

According to a tipster, Microsoft will presumably release a new Zune player with HD capabilities, somewhere this year. Naturally, we have no other details, nor any specs of the new device itself, but if this info is correct, and it sure looks reliable, the Zune 4th Generation should be available with a wide and sharp touchscreen, supporting high-def video and some other features, which you can find in the iPod Touch players. Stay tuned for more to come.

Update1: More uncertain specs show up across the cyber world, revealing a 16:9 AMOLED display with multi-touch usability (capacitive), joining the mini-HDMI output and the HD Radio feature, both bundled inside, along with a full HTML browser, to wirelessly surf the web. And while we have no special ability to determine “details accuracy”, you should take our word when we say it’ll be offered either in 16GB or 32GB capacities. However, In case you look for even more speculative rumors, Zune fanboys will also tell you the new HD device might support 3D XBox games, thanks to the integrated NVidia chipset, which we really hope to see included. Other than that, a worldwide release is said to take place somewhere around September, so stay tuned for real things to come.

Update2: May 12th 2009 – According to ZDNet, the next Zune / Windows Mobile device (AKA: Chassis 1) will feature a whole bunch of top-notch specs, including a 3.5-inch multi-touch display along with ARM v6+ processor, 1GB of RAM, OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics hardware, 3 megapixel camera, GPS navigation system, WiFi / Bluetooth connections, built in accelerometer and even Nvidia’s Tegra platform, integrated with TI’s OMAP 3  and “Qualcomm 8k” chipsets, to handle those strong requirements. Of course, these are just rumors, and we can’t take them that serious, although we do hold an opinion that Chassis 1 will be strong enough to match market demands.

Apple Rolls Out a New 4GB iPod Shuffle With VoiceOver Technology

It’s here, the new iPod shuffle has just made his first appearance on Apple’s website, featuring a 4GB player instead of the previous 1/ 2GB capacities. Other than that, Apple has removed the control wheel from the device itself and the only remaining button was shifted to the attached earphones. Sized at 45.2 x 17.5 x 7.8mm, the new shuffle can easily get into the category of “the world’s smallest music player”, and without having an LCD screen, Apple has implemented the VoiceOver feature, which will read out the names of the playing song, artist/performer and even your playlists, at a touch of a button. Battery wise, you’ll be able to play up to 10hrs of continuous playback, either you choose buying the silver or black flavors, both priced at $79. Mind you, the VoiceOver supports English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish. Checkout the official announcement, together with some other images after the break.

Update1: The guys at iFixit already managed to dissect this little creature.  Check out the images after the break or visit their website for a full coverage.

Update2: This is bad, really bad. According to iLounge the new iPod Shuffle can only be controlled by special earbuds with a special authenticating chip from Apple. The meaning is that third party manufacturers who want to sell Shuffle headphones, will have to pay Apple a special fee, just for making them available – and you guessed it right – you’re the ones to pay the price. This all thing makes us wonder why in heaven Apple would like to lock down its own customers by limiting the number of accessories. First reason we can think about is the recession. If Apple will be the sole provider of Shuffle headphones then more money will make its way to Cupertino, but then again, who’d like to buy a player with proprietary headphoes. Second reason, relates to Apple’s policy and the endless story of frustrated fanboys who play mouse-and-cat chasing game, trying to unlock the iphone back and forth. Clearly, there’s nothing new in this latest decision and Apple has already locked down its users before – policy, remember? Bottom line, Apple might have long sleeves, hiding strong PR and marketing tricks, but consumers ain’t dumb anymore – you got that El Jobso?

Update3: Apple confirms there’s a proprietary chip inside the new Shuffle’s headphones, but the chip isn’t encrypted and third party manufacturers might be able to clone it.

Update4: Now, with the assistant of “Compuer Choppers” you can get yourself a customized Shuffle, plated with colorful designs, instead of those dull silver/black ones from Apple. To do so, just hit the link and choose your favorite hue for a starting price of $20.

Update5: If Apple’s new shuffle has been removed from your birthday “wish list” just because the VoiceOver feature could not pronounce your favorite band accurately, mind you that Cupertino has just released the VoiceOver Kit 1.0.1, which is already available via Mac OS X software update (17MB) and suppose to fix the pronunciation problem for most of the names, but not all of them. Clearly, Apple hasn’t said a word about which names were fixed but you can try them yourself to feagure out.

Korean company mobiBLU is about to launch a new media-players lineup and the first in the series is the T50 PMP, which packs a 2.6-inch 400 x 240 touchscreen, an FM tuner, a microphone and 4GB of internal memory storage. Although the new T50 is still unofficial, we couldn’t ignore the UI, which literally resembles another popular player – You’ve guessed it right – the iPod Touch. However, while Apple’s player sports a super fast multi-touch screen technology, the mobiBLU version comes with a haptic display, that makes it a bit sluggish, if you insist to compare between the two. Still no word on price or availability, but we do know the T50 will generously support MP3, WMA, Flac, AAC, APE audio formats.
