Over 10000 iPhones Snatched In Germany On 1st Day

Good news for Apple. The iPhone selling in Germany turned to be a huge success. Apple, via T-Mobile, managed to sell over 10,000 units, just after 24 hours (!). It seems the Germans are excited with the new shiny phone that has landed in the European continental and already makes huge waves.

In addition, we are hearing that Apple upgraded the European iPhones, and installed a new firmware version in the bundle. Version 1.1.2 supports multi-language system and multi virtual keyboards. Also, there are hints for an optional voice recording in the latest firmware. As for the open/closed saga, you have guessed right, the phone is locked and unjailbreak, so the cat and mouse game is still on…

Google Announces The Android OS

Android Finally, after recurrent rumors about a new G-Phone, coming out, Google announced� on a new OS for mobile phones – The Android.� The new OS is a rendezvous of Google with the group of Open Handset Alliance. The OMH, is a group of more than 30 technology and mobile companies who have come together to accelerate innovation in mobile and offer consumers a richer, less expensive, and better mobile experience. The major mobile companies in this group includes companies like LG, HTC, Motorola and Samsung. This mobile gigantic companies joining companies like Ebay, Google and some of the biggest cellular providers like Sprint, T-Mobile, China Mobile, KDDI and more. Not impressed yet? you can also add to this massive coalition,� hardware manufacturers mammoth like Intel, Nvidia, SiRF, Qualcomm, Marvel, and more (Nokia and Apple are excluded).
The new OS will be based on open source and Android’s Platform will provide a development Kit for developers, which will be available on November 12th.

The New Sansa View Player

sansaview Sandisk released its new and updated portable player – The Sansa View. The player comes with a new shiny look, with 2 storage sizes – 8GB and 16GB. Prices are 149.99$ and 199.99$ respectively.

The new Sansa View’s screen size has been increased to 2.4?, and It is much thinner (around 8.8 mm). Sandisk also upgraded the resolution to 320 x 240 pixels, and added support in WMV, MPEG4 and h.264 video formats.

In addition, the previous control buttons have been replaced with a new scroll wheel, and a MicroSD memory card slot was added, along side the good old FM tuner. Battery life is set to 30 hours of audio and 6 hours of video (impressive).

To conclude this, rumors coming from Sandisk directions, implies for even a bigger Sansa View storage capacity – 32GB(!) unit, expected to be retailed for 330$.

SanDisk Sansa TakeTV Video Player

TakeTV Sandisk finally announced on its new USB TV video player. The new Sansa presents an easy way to take your video from your PC to your TV, as simple as using a USB flash drive – just drag files to your TakeTV player, slip it into the TV cradle, and press play on the included remote.

The TakeTV player comes with 2 sizes configuration: 4GB (100$) & 8GB (150$). The player supports DivX, xVid, MPEG-4 formats, with Resolution of up to 720×576, in 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios and a range of viewing modes.


The New Zune 80 Interface

Microsoft announced on the second generation of its Zune players, this week. The players present a very nice interface (reminds me the iRiver Clix 2 interface) and improved usability, compared to the first generation .

The New Zunes From Microsoft

A year after releasing the new Zune player to the market, and a month after Apple released its new iPod players, Microsoft is announcing on the second generation of the Zune.

The new Zunes have two main configurations – Hard Drive and Flash Drive players.

Hard drive Zunes – The Zune 80 – comes with 80GB of storage. Screen size has increased to 3.2″, thats 2 inch more than the first generation. It is much thinner than the first one, and it will be available in black color.

Flash Zunes – Zune 4 and Zune 8 – comes with 2 capacity storage: 4GB and 8GB respectively. This flash players, remind Apple’s first nano players, come with 1.8″ and will be available in red, black, pink and green colors.

Apple Vs. Consumers – The Next Battle

AppleOn recent weeks, Apple managed to get into direct conflicts with its consumers, worldwide. The last trigger was the innovative iPhone that created a huge buzz all over the world. Apple, in some typical corporation decisions, managed to piss off many iPhone buyers and millions of technology fans.

What Happened?

The first strategic decision from Apple was to diminish simfree, lock the iPhone exclusively to AT&T, and prevent other networks users from using it.

The second strategic decision was to slash the 4GB iPhone and to cut the 8GB iPhone price from 599$ to 399$, thats 200$ after only 2 months, since launch day.

Following furious reactions from iPhone owners who felt they have been screwed for been loyal to Apple by purchasing it first, Apple decided, in a precedent way, to compensate the first buyers by refunding them with 100$ store credit.
