iiView’s Vpad Makes It Out To a Growing Tablets Market

If any of you happens to have spare $500 in his pocket, iPad is not the only slab you can get – look, it’s not that we’re trying to pull you off the idea of buying Apple’s new star, it’s just there are other tablets in the market that want to conquer your hearts. One of them, is iiView’s 10.2-inch Vpad that boasts familiar specs such as Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive and Windows 7 Starter Edition onboard. And while this version costs only $499, a 3G-compatible device with 2GB of RAM and 320GB hard drive will run for $200 more. Still no info about availability.

Update: Looks like iiView has wisely decided to upgrade specs inside its coming slate (AKA: M1Touch) which suppose to run for $500, starting this June, with a 1.66GHz Atom N450 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, one USB hub, 4-in-1 card reader and integrated webcam, stuffed on top of a 10.1 inch capacitive multitouch display. Basically, we’re not fond of desktop OS platforms running on portable tablets, even though the M1Touch do have one  – Windows 7 Home Premium.

iTablet Gets Released In The UK, Packs Everything The iPad Doesn’t Have

Now that Apple’s iPad has finally turned official and gone into mass production, it seems just a matter of time until new tablet machines would rise and shine in geeks world and closely watched in months to come. And one UK company that didn’t wait long (’till Apple’s newcomer goes live)  and recently taken wraps off its latest greatest pride, the iTablet, is X2 Computing that offers a 10.2-inch widescreen TFT or 12.1-inch widescreen XGA – both touchscreens at 1024 x 768 resolution – due to start shipping with Windows or Linux OS in April 2010, for an undetermined price. Basically, these iTablets pack most things we wanted to see in Cupertino’s iPad but couldn’t find, like three USB ports, optional HDMI output, 1.3-megapixel webcam, multi-tasking and out-of-the-box integrated flash support. Besides that you suppose to see other included specs like Intel’s 1.6GHz processor, paired with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G connection, white, grey, pink, blue, red, yellow or black flavors and up to 250GB of storage onboard. Stay tuned for more.

Update: Word on the street says that both versions are sized at 35mm thick, which explains the big storage capacity offered, but sounds bulky, in our opinion. This way or another we’ll have to wait and see.

DigitalRise's New X9 Tablet Joins The Hot And Trendy Slate Parade

Looks like we have a new joiner at the soon-to-be-crowded tablets arena. This time, it’s the X9 from DigitalRise China, which offers a 10.2-inch multitouch display (tablet,you know) along a decent lineup within, that includes an Atom N270 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 1.3mp webcam, a 160GB hard drive, 3G connectivity, WiFi, GPS and the latest-greatest Windows 7 OS. It’s already up for pre-orders, in case you have an import or distribution company, but be sure you’ll be the first to know when it gets available for individuals. This way or another, it would cost you a whopping $780 at the moment, so hold your breath for couple weeks more.

Smartbook AG To Launch Zenid GC Crystal, a Crystals-coated Netbook Priced Out Of Your Range

When we say the word “netbook”, we tend to think about a chip portable laptop, weighs around 1.4 kilos and packs some basic specs that suppose to handle most of our day-to-day tasks and even some more. But as you know, for every such edge there is an exceptional, and today it’s a very expensive one, coming from Smartbook AG, called Zenid GC, and completely covered in Swarovski crystals, top to bottom. In general, it’s just a regular Chinese ODM S40 netbook, which boasts a 10.2-inch WXGA LED screen, along 1.6GHz Intel Atom N280 processor, 2GB of RAM, built-in WiFi connection, a standard  Li-ion 2200mAh battery, and the rest of the stuff we already know – nothing that 299 Euros can’t buy you these days. But that model, in specific, is probably out of your shopping range, and its whopping price, which stands at 2,001 Euros (about $3000), sounds and feels bombastic thanks to its prestige cover, made out of those shiny Swarovski encrusted crystals, spread on the back. Think you’d buy this thing if you got yourself a huge bank account? Maybe. Only as a piece of furniture.

Have we mentioned that tablet PCs  become extremely popular these days? So popular that some of them, like QOOQ’s 10.2-inch tablet machine, have been specifically designed to sit in your kitchen and offer preloaded recipes, apart from your very own professional cuisine. And besides those French meal preparation videos, already tossed into the pile together with different recipes, ingredient information, adjustable shopping lists, and a cool magazine bulletin – all which can be updated for a monthly fee of €12.95 ($20) and a one time payment of €349 (around $515) – you  get yourself a glass touchscreen device packing an SD slot, along with a WiFi connection, Ethernet, USB hubs and a built in stand. And while internet browser unwisely dismissed from the overall platform that hooked to be cooked, other cool features , like photo viewer, internet radio and integrated weather app can definitely compensate for all of those missing parts. eviGroup's 10-Inch Pad Tablet Announced, Personal Assistant Included

We barely find these days portable media devices that get released with an artificial intelligence software, which can practically serve as your day by day personal assistant. However, we do see a lot of Internet and tablet machines, being launched on a daily bases, across the globe. One of those hybrid units that bravely combines all of the above, and stuffs them into a one tiny “piano-finish” frame, is eviGroup’s 10.2-inch Pad Tablet, that boasts (besides this 1024 x 600 display) a WiFi connectivity together with 3G WWAN, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, three USB ports, a 1.3MP webcam, a built-in microphone, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard-drive to keep your files inside. The system that operates this entire platform is Microsoft’s Windows 7, which comes preloaded with the optional Seline10 robotic creature that basically activates everything you do, either it’s text, handwriting, interface navigation and even voice controls. Seline seems to easily recognize your different moves, and technically transform them into actions. Regretfully, the company hasn’t yet unleashed any preview videos to demonstrate this ten years technology development working in practice. Nevertheless, collecting just under €500 ($745) out of your savings, will get you one, whenever it comes around.

ViewSonic's Atom N280 VNB101 Netbook Shows Up in Taiwan

Surprisingly, non of us has actually seen a lot of netbooks action from ViewSonic, but clearly it was just a matter of time until the company will take first steps into this crowded market, and it finally did, with recent announcement, indicating a new VNB101 machine that suppose to include Intel’s Atom N280 processor, along with a 10.2-inch 1024×600 display, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, a 3400mAh Lithium-Polymer battery, an optional 3G SIM card hub and either red, black or champagne colors to choose from – All priced around $485 in Taiwan. Not sure when this new device will make any appearance Stateside, but meanwhile, you can take a look at Netbooks News first video hands-on after the break.

Update: Viewsonic has also released an entry level netbook, the VNB100, which is an Atom-based device, paired with similar specs like its VNB101 sibling, with optional ExpressCard slot and built-in 3G modem. Albatron Debuts With a Slim 10.2-inch Atom-based Netbook

The netbooks festival keeps growing, as Taiwanese corp. Albatron joins the marsh with a thin 10.2-inch device that weighs around 1kg and packs (naturally) audio input/output ports. No other details to share at this point, but you can get a first impression by hitting the jump, there’s a short video to watch.

Lenovo S10 Netbook Gets Multi-Touch Capabilities

We’ve already seen “Multi-Touch” capabilities in Asus 1000H, but it’s always nice to learn that you’ll be able to find them in Lenovo S10 netbooks as well, as the company announced it will add a multi-touch trackpad in addition to a bigger screen size, turning the ideapad S10 from a 10-inch netbook into a 10.2-inch device. They should be available in black, white, red, blue, or pink colors somewhere around March, however, the price will top the regular $349 version, so be patient Lenovo avids. Point Of View Introduces the Mobii PC Netbook To The European Market

The netbook march continues, as Netherlands-based manufacturer Point of View unveils the Mobii PC, a 10.2-inch display with the usual 1.6GHz Atom processor, a 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, Windows XP or LInpus Linux onboard and even an ExpressCard slot in case you plan to use 3G connectivity. Still no word on availability but European citizens will be able to get it for around €280.

Frontier To Launch The "Kouziro", a 10.2" Netbook With Basic Specs

Japanese company Frontier, announces the release of Kouziro, a 10.2-inch netbook that looks pretty ordinary and has the regular specs, including Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 802.11 b / g wifi connection and 120/160 HDD storage capacity. The company offers 3 versions to choose from, while the basic model comes with XP Home Edition ($533), the premium boasts the XP PRO ($694), and the third packs Windows Vista inside ($568). As mentioned, nothing special in this black Asian edition, but  the prices, which are expropriated, comparing to other available models with similar specifications.
