Cowon D3 Plenue Is The New Android PMP On The Block

Say hi to the new Cowon D3 Plenue: At first sight, it looks like a basic mobile phone, same size, same shape, same overall appearance. But beneath the 3.7-inch, 800 x 480 AMOLED face lies an Android 2.1 PMP with 32GB of storage, SD card expansion, a built-in accelerometer and a T-DMB tuner. And if it wasn’t already cool enough, it also comes with an HDMI output, WiFi connectivity and Bluetooth 3.0 support. Sadly, we’re still not sure whether it is going to include an Android Market access at this stage – though we’re surely going to see some sort of applications on board – but one thing’s for sure, you can definitely expect to hear more about it in the coming months, weeks or perhaps in early January, at the 2011 CES show. Stay tuned.

Update: Amazon has just now listed a pre-order page for Cowon’s latest and greatest Android D3 Plenue player, priced at $370 and set on an undetermined release date. Is it just us that think this is way too much for a player, at this point?

Velocity Micro’s 7-Inch Android Powered Cruz Tablet Announced

Velocity Micro has just announced a new tablets lineup, powered by Google’s all-mighty android OS platform. Coming this August, the first device planned to go live is called the Cruz Reader. Now, whether it’s just an eReader or a whole new tablet machine – it’s up to you guys to decide – the mother company (as you can watch in the video after the break)  is apparently taking the reader side, flavored by tablet features . This way or another, for prices range between $149 to $299, you should all expect getting yourself a real nice reader-tablet hybrid combination, packing a 16:9 7-inch capacitive touchscreen on top, and USB port, paired with SD card slot, 4GB of internal storage and 802.11b/g wifi support (with full browser capabilities) under the lid. Update: And looks like the Velocity’s Cruz tablet is finally up for your pre-orders at Borders, priced at $299. Shipping, on the other hand, should start taking place somewhere towards the end of October – Holidays baby, holidays.

Samsung’s Android-Powered Galaxy Tab Unveiled

In general, there is not much information available about Samsung’s future tablets lineup, which apparently includes the S-Pad and the Galaxy, both are said to run Android OS inside, as the 7-inch Galaxy Tab is believed to be featuring Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of the platform, while the S-Pad is said to have both WiFi and 3G data connectivity on board. Stay tuned!

Update1: Rumors keep floating around, suggesting Samsung is about to release three different Galaxy Tab flavors in three different sizes: the 7-inch model, planned for August of this year, while 8-inch and 10-inch version are slated for holidays season.

Update2: There’s even more, according to Tinh te, Samsung’s 7-inch Tab will probably include an Android 2.2 inside, while CPU, Cortex A8, is said to run at a 1.2GHz speed clock. Besides that, it will also have 16GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD, and powered by a 4,000 mAh battery. As for the name itself, rumors claim that Samsung will call it “Galaxy Tape”.

Update3: Of course, the existence of a viable Samsung Tab can only be proven by a video, and we’ve just added one, so check it out after the break. It has some sort of a dialer, a DIALER?

Update4: As more details start sprouting out, we now hear that Samsung’s 7-inch Tab is going to boast a 3.2 megapixels webcam, along WiFi and 3G data compatibility, with a standard SIM slot.

Update5: We now hear that Samsung’s Galaxy Tab should be out to the world somewhere in Q3 of 2010.

Viliv’s Prime P3 Media Player To Run Google’s Android 2.1 Inside

With the growing prosperity of netbook devices from one side, and rapid increase in tablet consuming from the other, one should be questioning himself/herself  if there’s enough room for any type of media player to fit today’s market. Korean company Viliv, still thinks positively regarding this matter, and rolls out its latest Prime P3 PMP, which packs a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen on top, and dual booting platform, running both Android 2.1 and Windows CE 6.0 for the OS. The new player also packs up to 32GB of internal storage, while CPU wise you get the 800 MHz ARM Cortex flavor, capable handling your entire 720p content, stutter free. Other than that, for a non-disclosure price or availability, you get a built-in accelerometer, paired with WiFi connectivity, TV out and microSD slot expansion – all offered in variant of colors to choose from. a quick video demo is right after the break.

Dell’s Leaked Roadmap Photo Reveals More Netbooks/Tablets Coming This Summer

Looks like known Android-powered slabs such as the 5-inch Streak and 7-inch Looking Glass tablet, are not the only ones that Dell is planning to launch at full scale this very busy summer. In fact, according to a roadmap image acquired by Android Central guys exclusively, the Texan corp appears to have plenty more goodies, safely kept and well hidden under its dark out-of-range garner. And this ain’t a Dell fanboy talking trash, you know, this is something real, something concrete, that most geek audience should lend an ear to. This time, we have two Moblin devices ready to break cover and go under the spotlight in early and late Autumn. The first, known as the Sparta netbook tablet, packs an 11-inch 1024 x 768 display, paired with ARM Cortex processor, along with a special swivel base and a batch of optional connections, including WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G WWAN. The second in this session is the 0.9kg Athens “true” netbook, boasting that same similar ingredients its Sparta sibling has, like the aforementioned ARM processor and those several optional connectivity modules. This one however tucked with a non-swivel 11-inch platform. The third in that page, is the 7-inch Looking Glass Pro Android tablet which appears to be exactly like Dell’s neat Looking Glass Android tablet, spotted by engadget folks, couple days before. And then, there’s another one in this class, the LG Pro, which features premium components like advanced “HD screen” and digital TV tuner on top of the very basic fare. Finally, and most exciting for us on a personal level, is the 5-inch Streak, which according to this document suppose to come out in three different lanes: the US T-Mobile and European Vodafone versions, slated for this summer as well, while Chinese flavors are set for a Q4 release under all major carriers. Onda VX560 Touchscreen PMP Introduced, Bares Noble Aspirations To Be a Tablet

It’s been a while since we’ve last heard from Onda, but it seems like the Chinese brand has now managed to return to business, this time on a new shape and form embodied in a 7-inch slate/PMP device, known as the VX560, and might (just might) remind you of quite another tablet machine on another world entirely. But it’s not. In fact, it’s just a natural evolution of the product, that now boasts a 800 x 480 touchscreen display, stuffed with an ebook reader (supporting PDF, PDB, and CHM files), and outputs 1080p videos via HDMI, along some other common formats such as H.264-MKV, AVI, MOV, MPG, and FLV. Still no word about price or availability for our Western audience across the globe, but looks like Eastern chaps will get their chance to add one to the cart in the not too distant future.

Viliv V3 PMP Introduced, Tries To Find a New Identity

It’s really hard to figure out what exactly are you holding in your hand these days, whether it’s a media player or maybe a phone, smartphone, “superphone”, etc. And Viliv wasn’t making it easy on us either, in that matter. Therefor we were a bit in the dark when first read about the company’s P3 PMP device. Now we know, it’s a multimedia player, back then we weren’t sure, but that’s why you have the CES show to straight things up, isn’t it?  And although we still can’t tell when this thing goes upon sale and how much will it cost, we do know it sports a 3.7-inch 800 x 480 AMOLED display, paired with a strong 800MHz Cortex A8 processor and storage up to 32GB. The 1.7mm thin device also offers a microSD slot expansion at the bottom, next to a 720p TV-output, and optional T-DMB and DAB tuners within. The model that was spotted in Viliv’s booth included an Android platform but it would run a Windows CE dual-boot OS as well. Until then, stay tuned. Hands-on video right after the break.
