Vizio Introduces a 10-inch Tegra 4 Tablet and a Skinny 7-inch Android Slate

Vizio-Tegra-4-Android-tablet

Vizio is all over the place at CES 2013, whether it’s their smartphone, TV, laptop or tablet. Earlier this week the company announced its first entry into the Windows 8 tablet market. Today, however, the US-based company is back on track to launch a new pair of  Android Jelly Bean devices. The first, and certainly the most interesting of Vizio’s latest tablets is a 10.1-inch slab, powered by Nvidia’s Tegra 4 chip – the world’s fastest mobile processor, to date. But it’s not only the super fast and powerful CPU that makes us so curious about it, but also the 2560 x 1600 high-pixel resolution screen, which is quite remarkable, to say the least. Some of the other specs of the product include a stock Android Jelly Bean OS, running smoothly under the shell, 32GB of internal storage, WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, an NFC antenna and 5-megapixels rear camera alongside a 1.3-megapixels snapper on the front.

The 7-inch frame, which is quite impressive as well, will come pre-loaded with a lower resolution of 1280 x 800, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for the OS, 16GB of in-house repository, and a “rather weak” Tegra 3 processor. No NFC capabilities in this forthcoming tablet form.

No prices were given, but both machines are due out in the first half of 2013.

Asus Updates VivoTab Windows 8 Series With a New VivoTab Smart Tablet

asus-vivo-smart-windows-8-tablet

Las Vegas — Asus has just added a new tablet to its latest and greatest Windows 8 VivoTab series, the ASUS VivoTab Smart. So what is so different about it that merited the “Smart” in its name? The 10.1-inch, 1366 x 768, screen display looks pretty much the same, and so does the camera pack (8-megapixel on the back plus 2-megapixel on the front) and the NFC technology support. The chip inside, however, is an Intel Atom Z2760 dual-core processor, and you’re also getting a brand new “TransSleeve” keyboard dock, that will serve you well in protecting your slate, as well as a comfortable and quiet typing surface, thanks to the low-profile physical keys, and as a solid case that doubles as a stand. Pricing and availability are still unknown at the moment.

Update1: More info is coming from the CES show floor. Apparently, the ASUS VivoTab Smart will be priced at $499 in the US market, while the case-keyboard-stand sleeve will most likely run you an extra 129 bucks. Take a look after the break.

Update2: The 10-inch Vivo Tab Smart is now set to hit British shores on January 31st, under the ME400 moniker, with prices to start at £399 for the basic Windows 8 tablet with a dual-core 1.8GHz Atom processor behind the lid. Besides that, the cover add-on will run at £39.99, while the cover plus keyboard extension will set you back £89.99. Full PR after the break.
