HTC Flyer 7-inch Android 2.4 Tablet With 1.5GHz CPU Debuts

Today at MWC in Barcelona, HTC officially announced the Flyer, an Android-based tablet with a 7-inch 1024 x 600 pixel resolution capacitive touchscreen display and a 1.5GHz single-core processor on board. Titles aside, the Flyer will reportedly ship in Q2 2011 with an Android 2.4 platform (AKA: Gingerbread), alongside a 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and another one, at 5 megapixels, attached to the back. Moreover, the good looking aluminum unibody tablet offers inbuilt Wifi connectivity, paired with a 4000mAh battery pack, Bluetooth 3.0, a microSD card reader, HDMI out, a micro USB hub and DLNA support. No prices available at the moment, but the Full PR is somewhere down the road.

Update2: Not sure I like this all “pressure sensitive” thing, It feels a bit dubious. That said, the Flyer does seem to include a stylus pen for taking onscreen notes, or playing back audio recordings from the time a note was written.

Update3: What’s this? Looks like Amazon.de has just listed HTC’s latest and greatest Flyer tablet at €669, which means a little more than 700 US Dollars. Expensive, isn’t it?

Update4: And just in case you were wondering, HTC’s WiFi-only Flyer tablet is set to be released Stateside somewhere “this spring”. And while prices remain vague at the moment, the 7-incher is said to run exclusively via Best Buy’s nationwide retail stores, while others may join the selling later on.

Update5: HTC has just posted a Flyer demo video that seems to demonstrate the level of qualities the tablet has to offer. Check it out after the break (3rd video).

Update6: HTC confirms Flyer tablet will get Honeycomb sometime this year or so. Hopefully. According to the company’s Twitter account it “will be offering a Honeycomb upgrade when it’s made available.” A bit vague, especially when it comes to launching dates, but still good enough to give us all a ray of hope.

Update7: And looks like the HTC Flyer has finally made it into the UK market with pre-order prices starting at a whopping £600 (about $985) at Carphone Warehouse. This amount will grant you a 7-inch tablet device, powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm CPU, 32GB of storage, 3G connectivity and Android Gingerbread running on top. Did someone say expensive?

Update8: And if you’re looking for more reasonable prices, US retailer Best Buy is said to begin selling the Flyer on April 24th with a $499 starting price and all the good things we’ve already talked about, running on board. Regretfully, It’ll ship with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), but we’re told an Honeycomb upgrade is something we should all look for.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Turns Official

Samsung has finally gone official with its latest and greatest 7-inch Galaxy Tab tablet. The super hyped Android 2.2 device which Sami has pledged to release across the European continent this month, stores a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor, paired with wide range of radio frequencies, including  HSUPA 5.76 Mbps / HSDPA 7.2 Mbps (900, 1900, 2100 MHz), and quad-band GSM, while connectivity wise you get the most updated Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 support. Further more, you will be offered to choose either 16GB or 32GB capacities at your choice, joined by a microSD card slot that can add up to a 32GB more. Under the lid there’s a 4,000mAh battery pack and down the bottom you’ll find a 30-pin dock connector that lets you connect HDMI, USB, and other docking accessory stocks. The white slick tablet comes equipped with a rear 3 megapixel camera with flash and a 1.3 megapixel webcam up front. It’s capable of running Adobe Flash 10.1 platforms and can easily handle Full HD video playback on board. Pricing details and US availability are still missing at the moment, but full specs chart, PR announcement and the official video commercial are just around the jumping spot.

Update1: Pricing speculations start floating across the European continent, as more and more local retailers start reporting about their Galaxy Tab set of prices. Nothing has been officially announced yet, so please take it with a grain of salt unless you know something we don’t. And getting into the details, we’re now hearing of ginormous prices as high as €699 ($890) in France and €799 ($1,020) in Germany – considering there are 16GB and 32GB flavors to choose from. As for UK residents, Expansys will sell you the 16GB Galaxy Tab at £680 ($1,050), with shipping dated for 11th October.

Update3: According to the Wall Street Journal Samsung’s Galaxy Tab will probably cost US residents somewhere between $200 to $300 with a 2 years contract. No details about free-from-obligations pricing, yet.

Toshiba Libretto W100 Dual-Touchscreen Netbook Introduced, Still a Prototype

Still a concept, so please withhold all excitement until it gets live (hopefully in couple of months), and try not to be hard on yourself, will you? After all, we’ve already seen some cool dual-screen tablets/netbooks/laptops showing up in the past, – so the idea, in general, is well known. But that, as a fact, apparently didn’t stop Toshiba from creating its own device, the Libretto W100, which boasts a dual 7-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreens, housing a 1.2GHz Intel Pentium U5400 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM, a 64GB SSD, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 port, MicroSD card slot and and of course, Windows 7 Home Premium for the OS. It’s small, very small, only 7.95” (W) x 4.84”(D) x 1.2”(H) of size and 1.8 lbs of weight. Battery wise, you get the 8-cell pack, that suppose to deliver great longevity, as you run Toshiba’s in-house software that includes  Bulletin Board, ReelTime™ and the PC Health Monitor. The suspense – It’s not going to be cheap at all, with prices rumored to start at $1,099 and climb up with the specs. Nevertheless, you can still read the PR and watch the quick video right after the break.

ASUS 10.1-Inch Eee PC 1015T Shows Up in Computex with AMD V105 Processor

Oh, what do we have here? Another 10.1-inch netbook? Well, it’s not just another one, because this boy, Asus Eee PC 1015T, apparently packs an AMD V105 processor inside and a relatively strong ATI Radeon HD 4200 GPU for the graphics. And whether it looks similar to the Eee PC 1015P/PE or not, it sports a really impressive specs lineup, including up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 250/320/500GB storage capacities to choose from, 802.11b/n WiFi plus Bluetooth 3.0,  Windows 7 Started edition, a 6-cell battery and even a pair of  USB 3.0 ports. LG UX10 tablet Makes First Appearance at Computex 2010

Details scarce at the moment, but this is definitely an exciting time to join the tablets parade, and LG is one of the many companies that currently seek to do so. Need a proof? Check out its latest LG UX10, which undoubtedly belong to this burgeoning category, with that 10.1-inch LED capacitive touchscreen (not very responsive at the moment), featuring an Intel Atom Z530 processor under the lid, tucked with 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, an SD card slot, a micro-HDMI output, 1.3mp camera and Windows 7 Home Premium for the OS – yes, it runs a Microsoft platform inside. Price and availability are yet to be determined, but a short hands-on video is right after the break.
