iOS 7 Finally Gets an Untethered Jailbreak

ios7-evasi0n7-jailbreak

According to a chart posted on Apple’s developer website in early December, iOS 7 adoption is already at 74 percent. This means that three quarters of Apple iDevices are closely familiar with the new operating system, and that’s A LOT. What else happened since then? Glad that you asked, because the iOS 7 officially has an untethered jailbreak, courtesy of the great Evasi0n7. The tool, which many of you may have expected to see, is now available for both Windows and Mac users and can snappily help you unlock any iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models running iOS 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.0.2, 7.0.3 and 7.0.4, including the new ones (e.g iPad Air and iPhone 5s). As usual you should proceed with caution and happy jailbreaking!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. A “Dream Team” of iOS experts have just rolled out an untethered jailbreak for Apple’s dual-core A5 iDevices, dubbed Absinthe A5, and designed to target iPhone 4S and iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1 on board. So either click the source link below, or get the real thing right over here. Once again, you should plan carefully every step.

Untethered iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak Officially Out

Ladies and gentlemen, the real untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak y’all been waiting for is finally out and ready to open a wide range of your personal Apple iDevices (including iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod Touch 3G and iPod Touch 4G), except the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, which carry inside an upgraded A5 chipset. No sign as to when these two might get their own jailbreaking release, but be sure we’ll have this one sooner rather than later. Those with the pre-A5 machines can use a combination of tools to approach their hack, such as Pwnage Tool,  redsn0w 0.9.10, and Chronic Devteam’s Cydia package (look for “Corona”). Greenpois0n Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 Officially Released (Update: Verizon iPhone Jailbreak Included)

Looks like the wait is over, fellow readers, now that the Chronic Dev Team Greenpoison hack is finally out and about, to help you jailbreaking iOS 4.2.1 firmware. Now, as some of you may or may not have noticed, this most recent update (RC5 build) is an untethered jailbreak, which of course means you do not need to re-jailbreak if you restart your iDevice. Cool, isn’t it? Well, the good news is that the new software works for both Mac and Windows users. The bad, if you’re willing to take our advice, is that you still need to proceed with caution – and if that’s ok with you then go for it.

Update: If you happen to own a Verizon iPhone and are willing to give it the jailbreak treatment using Greenpois0n’s latest and greatest RC5.4 hacking software, mind you it’s here  – live and kickin’, ready to rock your iOS 4.2.6 devices with some cool Cydia apps, whether you’re a Mac or a PC user.

iPhone 3G, 3GS Finally Get iOS 4.2.1 Carrier Unlock

Well guys, the day that iPhone 3G, 3GS users have been waiting for has finally come – Dev Team has just released their latest and greatest PwnageTool 4.1.3 and redsn0w 0.9.6beta5, which provide the first iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak that seamlessly works with carrier unlock support. Regretfully, it will only be useful with a baseband later than 05.13.04, but not to worry, fellow gadgeters, because the hack, that uses the 6.15.00 baseband from iPad firmware 3.2.2, will upgrade your modem during the quick and risky process, and hopefully turn it unlocked. Of course, it is not recommended to do this, only if you’re stuck on 05.14 or 05.15, and you’re willing to accept the risks it entails: no way back, you won’t be able to update again in the 05.xx sequence, warranty problems and inability to make a full stock firmware restore (You’ll need to only restore to custom IPSWs, which is what you’re probably doing right now).  If you’re still into it, after all, please proceed to the Dev-Team link below.

Apple Officially Releases iOS 4.2 For The iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch

Apple is finally pushing out its latest and most anticipated iOS 4.2.1, which technically can be downloaded right away via your iTunes dashboard app. The new version which weights about 624.3MB and supports miriad of cupertino devices, including iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch, is notable for being THE most important OS software update the iPad tablet has ever had. For those of you who are still trying to figure out what all the commotion is about, imagine having in one magical slate multitasking capabilities, along with folders, Airplay, AirPrint usability, Game Center arena, and unified inbox accounts. Want even more? From now on you can use the Find My iPhone feature, free of any charge (previously priced at $99 a year). Generaly speaking, it’s a GPS-based application that lets you remotely locate your missing Apple handhelds (iPhone 4, the iPad, and fourth-gen iPod touch), by using a web interface platform and online set of maps. You can also wipe important data, lock your device from far, display a messsage on it, or sound an alarm from any place you are – and it’s free, remember? Hit the jump for full PR.

Update: Dev-Team has just launched a new redsn0w version 0.9.6b4 jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1.Regretfully it’s a “tethered” update, which means that iPhone 4, iPad, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch users will have to reattach their personal devices, either to a PC or a Mac, to boot into a jailbroken state whenever they need a reboot or lose the battery power – bummer. In any case, that won’t unlock your handheld machines, if that’s what you were expecting for. Unlock hack for 3G and 3GS is expected to be out somewhere this week, while the iphone 4 solution should probably take a little bit more.

Greenpois0n iOS 4.1 Jailbreak For Windows Users Released

It looks like jailbreaking season has finally started folks, with Apple’s iOS 4.1 most anticipated hack tool, “Greenpois0n”, officially been announced and released to the pond. And while still available just for Microsoft Windows users at the moment (Macs should wait or use VMware/VirtualBox apps to install), this latest update, courtesy of Chronic Dev Team labs, will shine only with Cupertino’s iPhone 4 / 3GS, iPod touch (3rd / 4th generations), and iPad 1st gen devices, already preloaded with iOS 4.1 firmware which turns to be vulnerable to George “geohot” Hotz recent limera1in USB boot ROM jailbreak exploit, that Steve Jobs is likely to block. On his next firmware roll out, that is, of course.

Update: Well…it didn’t take long for both Geohot and the guys at Chronic Dev Team to introduce their own proprietary Mac format into the market (limera1n and greenpois0n), each with varying degrees of advantages and disadvantages of its own. As always, proceed with caution and back up your stuff first, you just never know where troubles might come from.

Apple iOS 4.0.2 For iPhone and 3.2.2 For iPad Officially Out

Apple has just released iOS 4.0.2 for the iPhone and 3.2.2 for the iPad, both available for a download via iTunes, right away. So what’s the difference, you may ask?  Nothing much, besides the fact the new version will close the PDF exploit that JailbreakMe app was technically using to hack your phones. So don’t upgrade to this one if you’re using it, eh?

iPhone 4 Jailbreak Officially Out

We knew it was just a matter of time before the Dev-Team fellows would eventually catch up with iPhone 4 jailbreaking technology and make it widely open for everyone to use. While not perfect yet (probably due to servers overload), the iphone 4 jailbreaking process has been making some significant strides, and yesterday was a big step, as the team (Comex) has finally released a very handy tool for all iOS devices, including both iPad and iPhone 4 running iOS 4.0 and 4.01 platforms. To get it, just go to www.jailbreakme.modmyi.com (via Safari Mobile) and start the “JailBreakMe 2.0 star” process, at your own risk. One thing’s for sure, it’s already legal to be used, now that a new DMCA exception was approved by the Library of Congress, specifically allowing jailbreaking Stateside.

Update1: Looks like the good guys at 9 To 5 Mac has managed to pull it off, and guess whatit works! Check out the video after the break.

Update2: Already going through the iPhone 4 jailbreaking process? Mind you there might be some issues with FaceTime video calling and MMS messaging, at the end of the road. But fret not, boys and girls, because those cool and very useful features can be easily and quickly restored, thanks to this iPhoneDelivery app which you can find on Cydia, in your phone. According to RedmondPie, it would automatically fix those problems and make them run again in a matter of seconds or just a little bit more.

Update3: And to fulfill completely their commitments to the Apple fanboys community, Dev-Team has just released a new ultrasnow app version that would easily unlock your new magical iPhone 4 device (with 01.59 baseband) or any 3G/3GS mobile phones running 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 05.13.04 basebands. To learn more about how to jailbreak and unlock your handhelds (at your own risk) just hit the jump and watch the step-by-step video (the second one).

Apple iOS 4 Jailbreak Now Available For iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G Devices with RedSn0w

So now that Apple’s iOS 4 is officially out, it was just a matter of time until Dev Team guys will eventually jailbroken it and make this platform even more available for everyone out there, especially those with iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G devices, who generally seem to be left out in Cupertino’s cold (3GS phones are not compatible with this one). At your own risk, simply download redsn0w 0.9.5 beta and start the installation process right away. Once finished, you can finally begin unlocking your mobile handheld, for baseband between 04.26.08 and 05.13.04, using Ultrasn0w 0.9.3 from the Cydia store. Be careful there, eh? If you need more help, just follow these step-by-step instructions on twittown.com.

Update: PwnageTool 4.0 has just been released as well, so you can now jailbreak your iPhone 3GS devices, in case they have the old bootrom installed, along with previous models like iPhone 3G versions and 2nd gen iPod Touch players. Once again, careful there.

Spirit Jailbreak For iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch Officially Out

Looks like it didn’t take long to turn Apple’s  i – devices jailbreak from a nice video demo into a real tangible hack which can be downloaded right away, no matter if you’re a PC user or a Mac. The untethered jailbreak works pretty well on iPhone, iPad WiFi, iPad 3G + WiFi, and iPod touch devices while jailbreak process is very quick (takes few seconds only), and should apply to activated iPhone/iPad OS devices running 3.1.2, 3.1.3, and 3.2 versions, without including the carrier unlock. Mind you, it’s still in beta mode, so make sure you have everything you need as a backup, before getting it installed. Download is available in here, but regretfully, not all Cydia apps will eventually work.

Apple iPad Gets a Jailbreak

Well, well, what do we have in here…Looks like another episode of “It didn’t take long to jailbreak it” has been unofficially demoed by Apple’s fearless nemesis Geohot ans his counterpart fellows from @comex. See that Cydia app on that iPad device, implying a blackra1n jailbreak? No doubt, it happened, but still no downloadable version to ratify that (rest assure it won’t take long, though). Until then, please checkout the iPad-N64 console video after the break.

The iPad Has Been Jailbroken One Day After Debut

Well, what do you know guys, it’s been like what – one day since Apple has officially launched the iPad in the US? And while many tech users already complained this new Apple tablet comes too closed, too restricted for them to buy, someone called MuscleNerd, who apparently belongs to the almighty freedom defenders, iPhone Dev-Team, decided to prove different – in other words, he’s managed to hack  Steve Jobs’ dearest toy and film the entire process on a video. How did he do that? By creating a root-access on the iPad, thanks to a port of Comex’s ‘Spirit’ iPhone OS 3.1.3 jailbreak that exploits a bug which will hopefully allow us to install on Cupertino’s slate anything we’d literally like. Checkout the video after the break.

Untethered Jailbreak For iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch and iPad Devices Is Possible

Word on the street is that Geohot, the guy that makes Apple challenges look like kids game, has finally managed to jailbreak Cupertino’s latest iPhone and iPod Touch versions. In other words, new machines such as iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G/3G and even iPad slates, are now said to be available for a jailbreaked, based on a software hack he’s about to release, and without the need of tethering. In his blog, Geohot says:

“The jailbreak is all software based, and is as simple to use as blackra1n. It is completely untethered, works on all current tethered models(ipt2, 3gs, ipt3), and will probably work on iPad too.”

And considering his record, it would be hard not to believe. See the video for yourselves, after the break

Apple's iPhone OS 3.1.2 Now Available

Apple just issued iPhone OS 3.1.2, available on your iTunes app right now, offering some bug fixes to few of the problems you may have seen, including pesky sleep mode bugs that kept your iPhone device from waking up, network connection interruptions many has suffered from, or this video streaming crash, occasionally happened. Just click the update and make it work.

Update1: And just in case you were looking for a jailbreak app that will help you hack your iPhone 3GS 3.1.2 OS or iPod Touch 3G without activation, Geohot’s Blackra1n key just turned official, and will let you in right away, as long as you run a Windows platform. No unlock, only break. Proceed with caution.

Pwnage Tool 3.13 For iPhone 3GS/iPod Touch 2 Jailbreaking Has Been Released

Dev Team has done it again. iPhone 3.1 OS has been jailbroken for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 2 machines, in case you’re Mac users. Mind you, this new Pwnage 3.13 tool, the team has released, will not work with Phone/iPod Touch devices that came out-of-the-box with OS 3.1 or were upgraded via iTunes. In other words, you have to Pwnd them at 3.0 or 3.0.1 versions, before jumping to the latest one.

iPhone 3.1 Jailbreak for MAC users has been released

Dev Team has just released a Pwnage jailbreaking tool for iPhone 3.1 OS, used with Mac systems. Mind you, this new JB version can only work with Apple’s older machines and won’t support new ones, such as iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch second-gen. To get it down and start the process, move with cautious over the link below.

Because of changes with Apple’s update techniques this will be a multipart release, starting with the initial release of PwnageTool for Mac OS X – this application supports the iPhone 1st Generation (2G), The iPhone 3G and the iPod touch 1G. NB: THIS DOES NOT SUPPORT THE 3GS OR 2ND or 3RD GEN IPOD TOUCH. redsn0w for Mac OS X and Windows will follow sometime in the near future, please don’t bug us about it – we’ll release when we have something ready.

iPhone OS 3.0 Gets The Pwnage Jailbreaking Tool Up And Ready

In case you were wondering if Dev-Team will ever be able to pull it out together and bring  a jailbreaking solution for OS 3.0, pat your shoulders guys, as a new Pwnage tool was officially released – currently for Mac users only – with some precautions at stake, to be taken into consideration while handling this thing. There’s absolutely no compatibility with 3G S devices, and frankly we don’t think those lucky people who already got them should really jump on the wagon and jailbreak their machines, with so many free applications available for downloading from Apple’s App Store. To get this thing done, you’ll need a Mac OS X platform, running your computer with either Pwnage or QuickPwn tools already jailbreaking your 2.2.1 version. Otherwise, it just won’t work for you. Jump after the break to read the complete instructions as earlier displayed  by Dev-Team themselves. You can also download the Pwnage tool directly from here.

Update: Looks like iPhone 3G owners can finally unlock OS 3.0 interface, as Dev-Team officially releases their latest Ultrasn0w version, allowing 3G machines get Apple’s recent platform work inside. Apple's iPhone OS 3.0 To Have MMS Messaging, Copy And Paste, P2P Connectivity And a Lot More (Now: Jailbreak)

Apple’s OS 3.0 preview event in Cupertino, California was just ended with some interesting announcements concerning hardware accessories, firmware tweaks, App Store business model improvements and some new games/software developments – answering most of our long lasting expectations. Although it was more of a conference, targeting third party developers, some of the news are all about iPhone’s consumers usability. That includes:

  • Copy & Paste capabilities.
  • MMS messaging support.
  • Forward and delete for multiple messages.
  • Peer-to-peer connectivity over Bluetooth for gaming and info exchange.
  • A2DP stereo Bluetooth add-on
  • Voice Memos.
  • A new home screen page with Spotlight feature, allowing universal search on the phone (like Palm’s Pre).
  • Shake To Shuffle function.
  • Landscape keyboard, available in Mail, Notes and SMS.

First event without Steve Jobs around, and everyone in Apple talks about a complete return to CEO position somewhere around June 2009. But illness matters aside, we’ve learned that the company craves for extra revenues, specially from third-party applications. That is why developers will be able to include subscription fee inside paid apps, together with optional paid content that can be purchased directly from the app itself (like T-shirts and other stuff). Developers will also be able to build apps combined with Google Maps or connect with hardware accessories, such as computer speakers, keyboard and even a blood pressure monitor, through their applications. The new package will include 1,000 new APIs, allowing push notifications (at last), in-game voice use and built-in tethering functionality, that will hopefully work in the future. Other than that, users will get auto WiFi login around hotspots, full parental controls over TV shows/App Store apps and even Bluetooth functionality, in case you’re a 2G iPod touch owners.

OS 3.0 Beta version for developers is now available in here. The other 3.0 firmware update for consumers will be launched in the summer, free of charge. Those who hold iPod Touch devices in their hands will have to pay the usual annoying fee (which stands at $9.95), to get the new version.

Update1: checkout the video after the break.

Update2: iPhone OS 3.0 beta 2 was just released (for developers) and looks like we’re about to get the opportunity to use up to 11 home screens instead of the 9 screens limit on the current one. Additionally, Apple will finally add the push notifications feature in the upcoming version, so here’s a good reason to look forward for something.

Update3: You’ve guessed it right, the guys at QuickPwn have just kicked in with their latest release, which jailbreaks Apple’s OS 3.0 for free use. As always – at your risk – just to the following link, as download is available in here.

Update4: Looks like you’ll also get Voice Control (which stands for voice dialing), together with some other goodies like video recording, auto-focus camera, a compass and a digital battery indicator.

iPhone 3G Gets Unlocked With a Special Sim Card

Well, it’s not a software unlock, but it looks pretty much the same as the first generation unlock SIM card, as it misleads the handset to think it is actually using your local carrier. Still, no word on price or availability but there’s a video to prove it actually works. Stay tuned for more info to come.

iPhone 1.1.3 Gets Jailbreak Version

A team of hackers has just revealed a jailbreak for the latest iPhone edition 1.1.3. The jailbreak is available for Mac or PC users with previous 1.1.2 or 1.1.1 jailbroken versions. We’re not sure this one is working with the iPod Touch, but it does work with the iPhone. More instructions here.

Update: please pay attention to the Statement Of Risk, as it says: “As all upgrades are risky, this one is doubly so. You may have to restore your phone using iTunes and start again if it fails. Make sure to back up first”.
