Although it’s not the most responsive one we’ve ever seen, the guys at Netbook Mag were generous to share a cool step-by-step tutorial that explains how to install a touchscreen kit inside a Samsung NC10 netbook. The results are pretty neat and useful, but you can notice some minor problem within the clicking actions. Asus Eee PC 1000HE Netbook Will Support Longer Working Hours

It’s been a while since we were last hearing from Asus about any new netbook release, but no worries the Taiwanese are here, live and kicking with the Eee PC 1000HE, which is part of the 1000H lineup, only capable of providing up to 9.5 working hours (!), thanks to the high-density battery and Super Hybrid Engine technology that the company has developed. Surprisingly, the official announcement first popped up on ASUS Eee PC Facebook group, suggesting a 10-inch LED backlit display, together with a 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor, 160GB hard-drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi connection and Bluetooth 2.0. Price wise, the new 1000HE model will set you back for $399 in pre-order, but FB group members get an additional $25 discount, which makes the entire deal very affordable. Intel Officially Releases The Moblin 2 OS For Your Netbooks

We keep getting lots of news about independent systems, designed for your personal netbooks, but this new Fedora-based OS from Intel looks very interesting and already confirmed to be working with Acer Aspire One, Dell Mini and even some Asus Eee versions (without wireless support). Although it’s still in Alpha mode and plenty of water will flow in the river until perfection is achieved, this open-source system which carries the name Moblin 2, might be a good solution for early adopters who crave for a cheap and stable platform to replace their Windows XP. Those who wish to install it might find a good internet connection manager, fast booting performance, nice transparent  design and other Linux goodies inside. However, if you’re not a computer literate, you might find yourself in troubles, fighting pesky bugs that have a special affection for preliminary software stages.

Update: April 3, 2009 – Intel hands over this very promising OS to the Linux Foundation, to keep it as a neutral body, although Intel itself stays in charge of this project behind the scenes. Yes, tech world has its own small politics, you know.

Archos 10 Netbook Gets a Closer Look

Only days after launching the Archos 10 netbook, the guys at ArchosLounge have taken it for a closer roundup. From their impression, it’s just another version of MJ125 Hase, featuring specs like 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 3 cells battery, and 160GB hard drive, along with the usual 10/100 M Ethernet controller, 802.11b/g WiFi, 1.3MP webcam, or a 4-in-one card reader. Nevertheless, the potential is there, specially if you load inside a 6-cells battery and Ubuntu Satanic instead of the dull Windows XP system. Hit the link below for more images.

Olevia X10A-3GPB Is a Hello Kitty Netbook With 3G Capabilities

Remember this cool Hello Kitty C1 netbook we’ve recently introduced? Turns out it is a branded version of Olevia X10A, designated for Hong Kong markets and priced 30% cheaper than the Japanese model. Now Olevia rolls out the X10A-3GPB netbook, which boasts the same specs, including a 10.1-inch 1024×600 display, an Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 120GB of HDD and other usual stuff, only with an integrated HSDPA 3G module, allowing you to surf the internet without the need for hotspots. Regretfully, there’s no word on pricing, but this release proves again that built-in 3G modules are becoming more and more common among the netbooks world.

Acer's Aspire One 103 10-Inch Netbook Makes an Unofficial Appearance (Update: Now It's Official)

Aspire One is one of the top selling netbooks around the globe, thanks to the nice minuscule design and the impressive 8.9-inch display, coming with a reasonable keyboard, a fair 120/160GB hard drive and some other alluring specs which make it so likable. Having said that, it seems Acer won’t settle down until a 10-inch version will be released, and while speaking, the guys at jkkmobile have managed to put their hands on Acer’s next generation netbook, carrying the name 103 and packing a 10.1-inch display, Intel Atom 1.6 Ghz N280/N270 CPU, 1GB of Ram, 160 Gb HDD, Multitouch trackpad, Bluetooth/Wifi connectivity, SDHC card reader, 1.3MP webcam, Windows XP OS, and built-in 3G capabilities (Optional). Naturally, there’s no word on price or availability, but I guess everyone expects this version to go out in the following months, so stay tuned for further developments.

Update1: Acer has confirmed the new 10-inch version. 3 models are expected to be released within Acer’s Aspire One D150 series – The first, which suppose to hit Europe on February, is the D150-0B that includes a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 display, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB memory, 160GB hard drive, and a 3-cell battery, all for about €329 ($425). The second, which suppose to hit Europe on March, is the D150-1B, boasting  the same specs as the previous model, only with a 6 cell battery inside, will set you back for €349 ($450). The third, which will be scheduled for March as well, is the D150-2BG, coming with an Intel Atom 1.66GHz N280 processor, a built-in 3G quadband HSDPA/UMTS broadband and a 6-cell battery, all priced at €449 ($575).

Update2: It is now available in Amazon and J&R for pre-order with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU and a 6-cell battery, but no word on N280 processor at all. Meanwhile, you can check the video preview from Netbooknews.de after the break.

Samsung Rolls Out Pink NC10 Netbook For Valentine Lovers

Samsung’s NC10 is one of the best netbooks out there, boasting a fantastic anti-bacterial keyboard and a great 10.2-inch display, together with the usual stuff, including 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, a 1.3M webcam, a 3-in-1 card reader, Bluetooth/WiFi connectivity and a 6-cell battery that provides long working hours. However, while regular versions offering white, blue or brown casing flavors to choose from, Samsung has decided to add a pinky model for Valentine gifting, priced at £316 ($434) and scheduled to land on UK shelves on February 9. Therefor, in case you haven’t indulged your lady with an up-to-date tech present, this new NC10 might be a good excuse.

Gateway LT1004U Netbook Appears On Office Depot Shelves

It was just a matter of time until Gateway would join the netbooks pile, and today we’re glad to get a confirmation it already did, as a blackish 8.9-inch netbook, carrying the industrial name of LT1004U, was spotted on Office Depot in Redmond, WA with a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, Windows XP onboard and an Aspire One rebadge design. Speaking factually, it’s just another usual netbook, the kind we’ve already seen around, but there is something alluring about Gateway’s new toy after all, knowing it cost only $379.99, which clearly stretch the lower pricing borders of these devices. In any case, you can always jump to your local branch to get first-hand impression.

Archos 10 Netbook Pops Out In The Wild (Update: Now Official)

For many of us, the name Archos relates to advanced multimedia players with quality video display and robust frame. But the French brand has already realized that the trends shift to some other directions, binding them to move forward and to be straightened with global tendencies. As a result, the company has joined the overcrowded market, introducing the Archos 10, a 10.2-inch netbook with ordinary specs like 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 3 cells (6 optional) battery, 160 GB hard drive and Windows XP onboard. Nothing special in terms of design, but you also get a 1.3MP webcam, a card reader (4 in 1), 3 USB 2.0 ports, and the usual internet connectivity stuff. Still no word on price or availability, but we sure hope to hear more from this direction.

Update1: Archos 10 is now official and ready to go. The specs remain similar to those we’ve already noted up . In addition, you get 10/100 M Ethernet controller, 802.11b/g WiFi, PCI-E interface, 2 stereo speakers, VGA output, and a mic. Archos also loaded up various software, including Lotus Symphony Working Suite, XnView photo editor, Vtuner Web Radio & TV Player, BitDefender Antivirus 2009 and Parental Filter. As for the numbers, the Archos 10 is priced at $399 for the 3-cell battery version, or $449 in case you’re a 6-cell avid.

Update2: The Archos 10 is now available to order, starting at $399 for the basic package.

Update3: In case you’re keen of Barbie style, the French company has just released a Pink Archos 10 edition, to be available across Europe with the same specs and prices we’ve already mentioned earlier.

Update4: Now you can get even more, as Archos 10 Ubuntu Edition is up and available for 375 Euros (around $525), including the same specs, only with Ubuntu Linux OS inside, paired with 2GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive.

LG X120 Netbook Looks exactly Like The X110 Version But Features a Designated Bootable Splashtop OS

LG’s new X120 netbook is almost identical to the previous X110 version, featuring a 1.6GHz Inte Atom processor, along with a 10-inch WSVGA display, 1GB of RAM, WiFi connectivity and 160GB storage capacity, but the new edition comes with a designated Splashtop LG-Smart-On OS, which allows you to boot up the netbook in just couple of seconds and work on your basic tasks, like internet, mail, music, Skype, etc. outside the installed WIndows XP system (like Asus Express Gate). Unfortunately, there are no other details, regarding price or availability.

Asus EEE PC T91 And T101H Tablet Netbooks Introduced, Boast a Swiveling Touchscreen

Asus keeps showing us it has a lot of stuff to be proud of, as the company unveils the T91 and the T101H tablet netbooks at the CES 2009 show in Vegas. Both devices come with a swiveling touchscreen, allowing them to be used as tablet computers, as the T91 packs an 8.9-inch display while the T101H has a 10-inch screen. Both feature Z520 Intel atom processors, together with a built-in GPS navigation system and even a TV tuner, which is a little suprising and preliminary withing netbooks. Regretfully, there are no further details, concerning other specs, availability or pricing.

Update2: Looks like Asus’ Eee PC T91 has been officially confirmed to have a first UK debut somewhere around early June, priced at £450 ($685). Still no word about a US release, but we’re following the announcements very carefully.

Sony Vaio P 8" Netbook Officially Introduced

It’s CES time and plenty of announcements are making their way out, as the companies try their best to catch our eyes with new technoligies and lavish shapes. One of those products, which made us drooling all over the place is the new Sony Vaio P, an 8-inch netbook with an astounding LED-backlit 1,600 x 768 XBRITE-ECO LCD display, only 1.4 pounds weight and plenty of top-notch features, including Windows Vista onboard, Intel Processor (1.33GHz, 512kB L2 Cache), an integrated 3G WWAN capabilities, a GPS module, built-in webcam, track pointer inside the keyboard, 802.11n WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity and a battery that can provide up to 4 hours of use or 8 hours in case you’re equipped with the optional high-capacity cell. The Vaio P design is breath taking and you’ll be able to choose between onyx black, crystal white, garnet red, emerald green, or classic black flavors, somewhere around February, starting at $900 for the basic package, which houses 2GB RAM and 60GB HDD – Definitely not cheap, but absolutely worthy. Update1: while US residents can only get the 1.33GHz CPU version, Japanese VAIO P models also offer the 1.86GHz Intel Atom processor, which is significantly stronger. Having said that, you should know that a 1.86GHz processor, along with a 64GB SSDis priced at $1,549, or even $1,899 in case you want the 128GB SSD option – Too Pricey !

HP Mini-Note 2140 Netbook Has the Same Design But a Better CPU

It seems like HP will never abandon the promising Mini-Note 2133 design, with its adequate look and wide keyboard, that turn it into your ultimate travel-mate netbook. However, while the previous model had a sluggish VIA C7-M processor, the new Mini 2140 comes with an updated 1.6GHz Atom processor version, together with 80GB/160GB hard drive at your choice, USB ports, WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity and even ExpressCard / 54 slot. Screen size is bigger as well, offering a 10-inch display, available in 1366 x 768 and 1024 x 567 resolutions, which provide a better proportion for those who play games. Base package will be offered at $499, as you’ll be able to choose between XP Home / Pro, SuSe Linux, or Vista Home / Premium OS.

Update1 – 20/1/09 – the Mini 2140 is now available with the same specs we’ve noted up. Mind you, the Vista version is more expensive and priced at up to $799.

Update2- 31/3/09 – the Mini 2140 will finally be released on April 1, with an HD display, supporting 1,366 x 768 resolution.

Exper Style Netbook Looks Reddish Than ever

More and more brands pop out in the wild, offering pretty much the same specs and the same designs, but Exper style netbook has managed to distinguish itself from the others with this lavish All-In-Red design that might bring a lot of attention to your table. The rest is as usual, with an 8.9-inch widescreen, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM and an 8GB SSD to house your stuff. Naturally, it packs a Windows XP inside and priced at $470, in case you are travelling to Turkey. We have no indication for availability in other places but you might get it with All-in Blue, All-in-Black, or all-in-White flavors.

Lenovo S10 Netbook Gets Multi-Touch Capabilities

We’ve already seen “Multi-Touch” capabilities in Asus 1000H, but it’s always nice to learn that you’ll be able to find them in Lenovo S10 netbooks as well, as the company announced it will add a multi-touch trackpad in addition to a bigger screen size, turning the ideapad S10 from a 10-inch netbook into a 10.2-inch device. They should be available in black, white, red, blue, or pink colors somewhere around March, however, the price will top the regular $349 version, so be patient Lenovo avids. Point Of View Introduces the Mobii PC Netbook To The European Market

The netbook march continues, as Netherlands-based manufacturer Point of View unveils the Mobii PC, a 10.2-inch display with the usual 1.6GHz Atom processor, a 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, Windows XP or LInpus Linux onboard and even an ExpressCard slot in case you plan to use 3G connectivity. Still no word on availability but European citizens will be able to get it for around €280.

Asus S121 Netbook Looks Like The S101, Only With a 12" Display

When AsusTek first introduced the slim S101 netbook, we were very impressed from the lavish design but not from the expensive price tag. Now the Taiwanese rolls out the S121 version, which keeps the thin high-end shape but adds more size to the screen, as the new model boasts a 12.1-inch 1024 x 600 display, together with a presumed Intel Atom N270, 1GB of RAM, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.0 and 1.3MP camera. The rest of the specs are practically vague, but we do hope for an integrated 3G conection and hybrid SSD/HDD storage combined inside. Price wise, it’s not going to be cheap if you were looking for a bargain.

Update1: Turns out the new Asus S121 comes with an Intel Atom Z520 CPU a giant 512GB SSD drive, which turns it into the world’s first netbook with 512GB capacity. Still no word on price or availability.

Update2: Apparently, the S121 with the 512GB SSD flavor will be yours for a staggering price of $1,649, while the 120GB HDD version will set you back for “just” $899.

MSI U115 Hybrid Netbook Goes Live With SSD and HDD Drives Inside

MSI keeps delivering the goods, as the company officially launched the U115 netbook that we’ve already been talking about recently. The U115 Hybrid packs both SSD and HDD drives in one place and can handle them simultaneously, when the initial use goes with the SSD mode while the HDD drive stands mainly for storage, in order to save more battery power and increase the OS speed. In addition, it has a 10-inch 1024 x 600 display, 1.60GHz Intel Atom processo, a 2MP webcam, 4-in-1 card reader, up to 2GB of RAM, WiFi/Bluetooth connection and various storage combinations, including 8GB SSD / 80GB HDD, 16GB SSD / 120GB HDD, or 32GB SSD / 160GB HDD. Still, no word on price or availability but be sure they will be here shortly.

HP Rolls Out The Compaq Mini 700 Netbook In Europe

If the Mini 1000 netbook wasn’t enough, HP has launched the Compaq Mini 700 to the European market, packing a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a pair of Altec Lansing speakers, GMA 950 graphics card, built-in webcam/microphone, HSPDA and the usual USB2.0 ports, Ethernet, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity. There are no differences between the two versions, although the “700? in the second model could easily imply for a 7? display, but it’s not, the Compaq Mini comes with a 10.2-inch (1204 x 600) screen size, not to mention a Windows XP onboard. Price wise, the 700 version is more expensive, as you will have to spend £399 ($594) in order to get one. Clearly, it won’t carry basic specs. Checkout the unboxing video after the break.

Fujitsu Japan Introduces The Loox U 5.6" UMPC

Japanese corporation Fujitsu has announced the release of two Loox U ultra portable laptops, carrying a WXVGA 5.6-inch 1280 × 800 display and XP Home Edition onboard. Both U/C40 and U/C30 models pack 1GB of RAM, 60GB/120GB HDD storage, a 1.3MP webcam, an SD slot, WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and even an FM tuner. The only difference between the two is within the processors, while the Loox C30 houses an Intel Atom Z520 (1.33GHz), its sibling, the Loox C40 is powered by an Atom Z530 (1.60GHZ). Despite the minuscule sizes (weight 565g), the battery will be able to provide up to 5 hours of work and the swiveling screen looks awesome. Unfortunately, our premature felicity turned down when the airy prices popped up, standing at 740€ ($1014) and 820€ ($1124), respectively.

Update: April 28 – Looks like Fujitsu has tossed in Intel’s Atom Z550 (2GHz) into the pack and called it FMV LU C50N UMPC, which is literally the Japanese version to the aforementioned UMPC. Besides the stronger processor, you also get a 5.6-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen and the usual stuff you’ve already seen before.

AT&T Officially Announces a 3G Acer Aspire One Package

Those of you, who haven’t got a trendy netbook on their laps yet, this is your moment, as AT&T has announced an attractive 3G package that includes an Acer Aspire One, equipped with an integrated 3G modem, for just $99.99, subjunctive to a two-years broadband contract from AT&T. Mind you, the minimum fee for this kind of package starts at $60 per month, which means additional $1,440 in two years. Therefor, comparing to the $390 Aspire One netbook price, it might sound like a very expensive deal, but for those who use 3G connection on a daily basis, it might be an attractive offer. MSI Wind U100 Netbook Gets a New Colors Collection

If you’ve been thinking on getting yourself a portable MSI Wind netbook, mind you there’s a new U100 colors series, coming out in Japan on December 13th, joining the black or white already existing versions. The latest 10.2-inch lineup features the same 1.6MHz Atom processor with 160GB hard drive, 6 cell battery, 1GB of RAM, 1.3MP camera, 4-in-1 card reader, WiFi/Bluetooth connections and Windows XP onboard, but also Romantic Pink, Black Empire or stylish White Angel hues to light up your working vicinity, instead of those regular tedious patterns. As usual, Japanese prices are overrated, so be prepared to spend 56,800 Yens ($610) for one of these.

HP Mini 1000 Netbook Gets a Vivienne Tam Designing Edition

If black exterior design becomes too dull and boring for you, HP has the right solution, as the company has launched a special Vivienne Tam Mini 1000 Netbook edition, to be available in December for a starting price of $699.The new limited version packs a 10-inch display, together with a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB SSD or 60GB HDD and of course, a lavish flowery reddish decoration that covers the ultra portable computer, from top to toe. Bottom line, looks interesting but cost a fortune.

Update: meanwhile, in a perfect holidays timing, HP has announced a $40 price cut, on all regular Mini 1000 models, starting at $359.99 for the basic 10-inch version with Atom N270 processor, 8GB SSD and a 3-cell battery. Do the math which one is preferable.

Frontier To Launch The "Kouziro", a 10.2" Netbook With Basic Specs

Japanese company Frontier, announces the release of Kouziro, a 10.2-inch netbook that looks pretty ordinary and has the regular specs, including Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 802.11 b / g wifi connection and 120/160 HDD storage capacity. The company offers 3 versions to choose from, while the basic model comes with XP Home Edition ($533), the premium boasts the XP PRO ($694), and the third packs Windows Vista inside ($568). As mentioned, nothing special in this black Asian edition, but  the prices, which are expropriated, comparing to other available models with similar specifications.

Another sign for the accretion of the netbook trend, is the release announcement, from Sotec, of the Hello Kitty C1 netbook, which is expected to be sold in a limited number of units in Japan or online at GeekStuff4u.com. The new version packs a 10.1-inch 1024×600 display, an Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 120 GB of HDD, a 945 GSE Express chip, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, 802.11b/g WiFi conectivity and Windows XP onboard. The 2.6-pound mini whitish laptop can be yours, with two USB ports, Open Office, Firefox and Skype inside, for $890, which is ridiculously overpriced comparing to the other models in the market.

Dell Rolls Out a 32GB Inspiron Mini 9 Netbook In Japan

UMID To Introduce a New 4.8" Mini Netbook

Korean company UMID has introduced a new miniscule netbook, equipped with a 4.8-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreen, Intel Atom 1.1Ghz/1.33GHz processors, 512BMB/1GB of RAM, 1.3MP camera, and a microSDHC slot inside. As for connectivity, the new device packs all the latest technologies, including WiBro, WiMAX, HSDPA, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0, while storage is ranged between 8GB up to 32GB SSD. You get a chance to choose either Windows XP/Vista or Linux system and don’t forget the DMB / DVB-T tuner, also included within this 315g machine. Still, no word on price or availability, but Korean visitors will probably get it first.

Update1: Justek, an Australia-based reseller, has uploaded it for pre-order, priced at AU$1399 ($924). Delivery is scheduled to February 27th.

Update2: February 23rd – UMID M1 gets official, so you can check the Korean website for more details. Meanwhile, take a look at the video after the break.

ASUS Eee PC 1002HA Netbook Announced

Like you haven’t had enough, Asus has released another netbook model to the overcrowded market. This time, it’s the Eee PC 1002HA, which has the slim and stylish S101 flavor, only with a more reasonable price tag. It is equipped with a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display, the usual Intel Atom 1.6GHz CPU, 160GB hard-drive and 1GB of RAM. In addition, the Eee 1002HA has three USB 2.0 ports, ethernet, VGA output, and SD card slot, all packed in a 1.2kg, across 26.4 x 18.1 x 2.76cm box. As for the downside, the new netbook comes with a miniscule two-cell 4200mAh battery, but the good news are the slashed prices, that stand at $565 (compared to the S101 $700 pricing). Official shipping date remains unclear, although there’s a certitude it won’t be long.

HP Unveils The New 10-Inch Mini 1000 Netbook

The guys at HP probably feel the saber, landing on their neck, with their HP 2133 Mini Note left behind, in the fierce netbook competition, having a relatively weak Via C7-M processor inside, instead of the mighty Intel Atom N270 CPU, placed in others. But the situation is about to change, as HP has just introduced the new 10-inch Mini 1000 netbook, equipped with an Intel Atom version, 2.25lbs weight and competitive $399 starting price. Unfortunately, there are no further details to tell, so stay tuned for more to come.

Update1: As mentioned, HP ditched the weak VIA C7-M processor in favor of the Atom N270 CPU, coming with a 10.2-inch 1024 x 769 display, instead of the great 1280 x 768 screen on the 2133. You will be able to choose either 512MB, 1GB or 2GB RAM, while the XP version gets only 1GB. Storage wise, HP offers a 60GB 4200 rpm HDD or 8GB/16GB SSD. Other specs include 2 USB ports, an SD slot, VGA webcam, eSATA port, 802.11b/g WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity (optional). The Mini 1000 XP Home edition version, will be available in mid-December, starting at $399, as the Linux MIE version, which is a special Ubuntu-based OS, designed by HP itself, will make a debut in January, for $379.

Dell To Rename The Mini 9 Netbook As Vostro A90 (Update: Now Available In The US)

After two sturdy months in the market, Dell decides to rebrand its own Inspiron Mini 9, as Vostro A90 business netbook, to be available in Japan only, for an expropriated price of ¥92,830 ($999). This awkward move doesn’t have any reason attached, and the price tag might hint the company tries to target premium markets, but despite the refreshing design, the specs remain the same, including the usual Intel Atom 1.6GHz N270 processor, an 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 display, 1GB of RAM and up to 8GB SSD storage drive. In short, it really doesn’t matter if Dell smells something we don’t or the Inspiron version wasn’t answering the expectations, bottom line is that people can do the math for themselves, either buying a Mini 9 for $449 or nabbing a Vostro A90 for almost $1000, at their next Asian trip.

Update: Dell’s Vostro A90 has finally reached US shores, offering a 4-cell battery, together with 802.11g connection, 0.3 megapixel webcam, 16GB SSD and the aforementioned Atom processor, for a starting price of $349, which is way more reasonable than last time we were checking.

NEC Joins The Party, Announces The New LaVie Light Netbook

Japanese company NEC introduces its first LaVie Light netbook version, trying to distinguish itself from traditional “all white” design, with a massive black case and a whitish keyboard, that create a constrained overlook, in my opinion. The rest of the specs, pretty much remain the same, including the usual 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 LCD screen, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 1.3MP webcam, VGA output, 3 USB ports, SD slot, 802.11b/g WiFi, 160GB HDD storage and Windows XP Home aboard. The LaVie Light should be available around November, priced almost similar to all other Netbooks, already available in the market.

MSI Wind U120 Netbook To Be Released On December With a 3.5G WWAN Inside

MSI can be very pleased with recent global recognition they gain, thanks to the 10-inch U100 netbook, that catches a lot of attention within the ultra-mini-portable category, together with Asus, Acer and Dell. But the fierce competition doesn’t let them rest on their laurels, and the company battles to stay up with technology, in order to preserve their reputation. Thereupon, we get a chance to see some early Wind U120 press shots, two months before the estimated launch date, on December, and all we can say is that we’re very pleased with the results. Truth to tell, the U120 has exactly the same looks that its U100 sibling demonstrates, but the real difference is from the inside, as the Wind 2 packs either 20GB / 40GB SSD or 120GB HDD, along with 802.11n WiFi and built-in 3.5G WWAN (HSDPA), that lets you use a SIM card to surf the internet from any place, without the need for a hotspot. To make you even more happy, this top-notch device will be offered under $600, so hold your breath until December comes.

Update1: DigiTimes says the U120 should be available in November for $552, with that 3.5G WWAN.

Update2: It is up for sale with a reasonable $469.99 price tag.

Asus keeps raining more and more Eee PC netbook versions, when this time, it’s the Eee PC 900HA, which is pretty similar to its 900A sibling, only with a 160GB hard drive, instead of the 30GB inside the previous model. The rest of the specs stay the same, including a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4-cell battery, Windows XP onboard and the usual 8.9-inch 1,024 x 600 display. Now, generally speaking, we welcome new additions, anytime, anywhere, but c’mon guys, don’t you think this is too confusing. I mean, why launching a new model when all you can do is announcing a new 900A edition. Seriously, the more you release, the more it gets frustrating, and don’t get me wrong, I truly like these netbooks, but it’s really hard to follow, when the same laptop keeps coming, only with a different name, isn’t it? Anyways, it is now available for $349, if you manage tracking them.

Update: looks like our desperate call wasn’t strong enough, since Asus has just released the Eee PC 904HA, with 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 6-cell battery and a 160GB hard drive, adorned with green or red glaring colors and priced at $399.99 (via eeepcnews). ASUS Eee PC 900 Series Gets Gold And Blue Flavors

So far, we’ve seen too many Eee PC versions, but only two colors to choose from, including black and white (N10 version not included). However, after squinting around, Asus has realised it needs some diversity, and added two more hues to the casing pool. For the moment, you will be able to snatch a golden 900A or a dark-blue 901A, which suprisingly, resembles the popular Acer Aspire one netbook. As for the other internal specifications, looks like they remain the same, although we can’t have similar confidentiality concerning the prices.

LG Xnote Mini Netbook To Be Released In Korea

LG Electronics rolls out the Xnote Mini netbook (AKA: X110), with all the usual specs, including a 10-inch 1024 x 600 display, Intel Atom N270 processor, 4-in-1 card reader, 1.3MP webcam, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11 b/g WiFi connectivity. It comes with a Windows XP onboard and houses a 3-cell battery, together with a huge 160GB hard drive, all in a light 1.19kg package. Still, no word on availability outside Korea, but if you happen to be there, you can get one for an expropriated price tag of 699,000 KRW ($600), which will be slashed down, as it hits Stateside.

Update: Official name is X110 Momo. In addition, you will get the option to buy it with 3G WWAN connectivity inside, for $586 to $733 (customizable specs).

Packard Bell To Launch "dot" Netbook Around November

They say, if you don’t have your own netbook brand you don’t exist, and for some reason I tend to believe this allegation, otherwise, how can you explain the joining of Packard Bell to the overcrowded market, with their latest “dot” netbook, which unsuprisingly looks similar to the other gang fellows (particularly the Acer Aspire One), packing an 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 display and the usual Intel Atom N270 processor. Well, don’t think too hard, you’ve guessed it right, it comes with 1GB of RAM, a 6-cell battery, 5-in-1 card reader, a built-in webcam and Windows XP on board. But wait, there’s something exceptional, the new “dot” has a 160GB hard-drive capacity, which is bigger than the average size. Anyway, if this is the lappy that makes it for you, it should be Available in Europe around November, priced at €399 ($580).

You can also find either Ubuntu or Windows XP onboard, together with 1GB of RAM, built-in WiFi, 120GB storage capacity and 3 covering colors to choose from, including Champagne Gold, Bright Silver or Cosmic Black. Samsung Officially Announces The New 10-Inch NC10 Netbook

It’s been already a week since we first encountered with Samsung’s namelessly netbook. Turns out it answers the name NC10 and packs the usual specs, including a 10.2-inch display, Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 1.3M webcam, and a 3-in-1 card reader. In addition, it runs Windows XP OS and houses a 6-cell battery, WiFi, Bluetooth and storage capacity, up to 160GB HDD. One special feature the NC10 has, is the anti-bacterial keyboard, to protect your netbook from all those animalcules, hanging around. Still, no word about official prices, so you’d have to wait until it hits the shelves next month.

Update: What Laptop says that Samsung goes all the way down, with a competitive price of £299 ($532). I guess it’s not the “too low” price you’d expected, but it’s a good start.

BenQ Rolls Out Joybook Lite U101 Netbook

Like we haven’t had enough, BenQ has just announced a new netbook, to join the overcrowded market, somewhere around the beginning of November. The new Joybook U101packs the usual specs, including a 10.1-inch 1024×600 display (an 8.9″ version is optional), a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, presumed 80GB storage capacity (still unofficial), built-in WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, 3G WWAN option and the obvious 3-cell battery. You will be able to choose between Windows XP or Linux, as we’re still waiting for prices to be published.

Samsung To Launch Its Netbook Version Around October

Not much of a surprise, but Samsung has just introduced a new netbook, to be released somewhere around October, and you’ve guessed it right – the looks and the specs are similar to the other fellows in the group, featuring a 10.2-inch display and the usual Intel Atom N270 processor, together with 1GB of RAM, a 1.3M webcam, and a 3-in-1 card reader. In addition, the new Samsung netbook (no official name at the moment) is expected to be shipped with a Windows XP OS, a 6-cell battery for longer workout, and storage capacity, ranged from 80GB up to 160GB HDD. As mentioned, this 2.9 lbs netbook should be available around October, in black, white or blue flavors, for an undisclosed price, though we have our assumptions that it will carry a $550 price tag.

As promised, the new Dell Inspiron Mini 9 makes an official debut right on time, with a $349 starting price, for basic Ubunutu specs, which climbs up to $449 for the XP Edition version, or dramatically drops down to an imperceptible $99 bargain if you buy a Studio 15, XPS M1530 or XPS M1330 machine from Dell, until 6AM September 9th (neat). Although there’s a minor change with the brand’s name, switching from the rumored “Dell Mini Inspiron 910” into the official Dell Inspiron Mini 9, the rest of the details pretty much stay the same, with an Intel Atom 1.6GHz N270 processor, an 8.9-inch WSVGA TL screen (1024 x 600), 3-in-1 card reader, 512MB/1024MB DDR2 internal memory, three USB2.0 ports, RJ-45 Ethernet connection, VGA output, a 1.3M built-in webcam, 802.11g Wi-Fi/Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity and a flash SSD drive with storage capacities, ranged from 4GB up to 8GB (at the moment). Asus Rolls Out The New High-End N10 Netbook

Following the great Eee PC success and the dominance within the netbooks market,  Asus keeps going forward, introducing a new lavish netbook, sans the Eee brand logo that has characterized their lineup. The new N10 was designed for the higher-end market, introducing a 10.2-inch LED backlight display (1024 x 768) and an Intel Atom-based N270 processor, together with a strong GeForce 9300GS graphics card. In addition, it packs Windows Vista Business, Altec Lansing speakers, a 250GB hard drive, a fingerprint reader and even an HDMI output, all for estimated prices, ranged from $450 up to $600. Korean launch is scheduled to mid-end September, so stay tuned for more to come.

Update: turns out Asus will offer 3 configurable netbooks, including the N10E-A1 that will have the basic specs without the HDMI connection, Nvidia 9300GS graphics, fingerprint reader, wireless connector N or Bluetooth. Instead, it will pack Windows XP, together with Intel Atom CPU, 10.2-inch display, a 160GB hard drive, 1GB RAM, 6-cell battery, 1.3M webcam and wireless 802.11 B/G connectivity, all for $649. N10J-A1that will house Windows Vista Premium, together with Intel Atom CPU, 10.2-inch display, a 160GB hard drive, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 9300GS graphics card, Bluetooth/WiFi 802.11B/G/N connectivity, 6-cell battery, 1.3M webcam and HDMI connector, all for $749. Msi To Introduce The New 8.9" Wind U90 Netbook

Truth to tell, the new 8.9-inch ( 1,024 x 600) netbook version, first showed up back in June at the Computex show, but after having an enormous success with the 10-inch U100 model, Msi has finally decided to officially release the Wind U90, to be shipped with an Intel Atom N270 processor, 512MB or 1GB of RAM and 80GB storage capacity. In addition, the U90 will have a windows XP system, a built-in 1.3M camera, a microphone, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity, 2 channels stereo speakers, VGA output and 3-cell battery (6-cell battery is optional). Still, no word on price or availability, but be sure this 2.2 lbs lappy will be here very soon.

Update1: turns out MSI has included the SUSE Linux OS within the new model, which will be available at the end of September for 339 Euro. The rest of the specs remain the same, including the keyboard size.

Update2: It seems like MSI is ready to deliver the Wind netbooks with a 6-cell battery onboard, offering longer battery life, for merely $550.

Remember the Amilo Mini netbook from Fujitsu? turns out it becomes official, as the company has finally confirmed it at the IFA 2008 in Berlin. Although it looks a bit different from the others, with its unique interchangeable colorful lids, the new Amilo mini has pretty much the same features, including a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 8.9-inch WSVGA Display (1024 x 600), 1.3M camera, 1GB of RAM, 60GB or 80GB HDD storage capacity, WLAN 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth connectivity, and Windows XP Home Edition, running inside the 1 kg UMPC. It runs Windows XP operating system and expected to be released in Europe at the end of September for €399 up to €499 ($590 up to $740), not so cheap prices, compared to the competitors, but with a top-notch technology.
