Dell’s 10-inch Tablets Lineup Gets Detailed

We’ve already seen the Dell tablets roadmap for 2011 – 2012, but the guys over at AndroidCentral seem to have a whole new slide, with more specs and release dates. Apparently, there are three new tablets on stake, one, Latitude ST, running Windows 7 on board, along with Intel’s brand new Oak Trail processor, 1366 x 768 screen resolution, 2GB of RAM, up to a 128GB SSD, dual cameras, an accelerometer, HDMI-out and a removable battery pack which is capable to switch on for up to 8 hours of continuous work. While the other two, Streak Pro and Latitude XT-3, boast a 10-inch and a 13-inch displays, respectively, paired with dual cameras, and Android Honeycomb on top. Regretfully, there is no word on price, but the latest slide indicates the Latitude ST will go live this October, while the Android-powered tablets are claimed to start rolling a bit earlier – The Streak Pro in June and the Latitude XT3, one month later.

Considering the fact that we’ve already seen a couple of leaked Dell roadmap slides in 2010, doesn’t mean we’re not interested to see a few slides more; on the contrary, we’d love to get ’em if you have any, in particular those planned for 2013, 2014, and on and on. As for 2011/2012, the Androidcentral guys have somehow managed to obtain Dell’s tablets forecast, and it’s here presented to you with much enthusiasm and galore. According to the roadmap we’re seeing, Dell’s Streak 10 is only few days away from launching, as far as the Q1 “storyline” goes, while in Q2 we should expect the Dell Gallo tablet, with a Honeycomb flavor attached, and a Streak 7 update somewhere in the late July. Staying in that Q2 framework for a moment, we’re also looking at Dell’s 10-inch Windows 7 slate, planned under the codename Rosemount and scheduled for June, with a 1366 x 768 pixels resolution display that supports HD 720p video transmission. Jumping forward to Q4 and Q1 of 2012, there’s a number of entries worthy of a mention, including the Honeycomb-powered Dell Sterling device (due out in late October), the Dell Opus One and Dell Silver Oak, both are due to go on sale in 2012 running Android Honeycomb platform within, and last but not least, the Dell Peju that makes a grand entrance with Windows 8 on board.

So there you have it, fellow readers; It’s definitely going to be an interesting year for the tablets form factor, at least as far as Dell is concerned.

LG Pad Spotted On a Roadmap Slide, Claimed To Run Android Honeycomb and Dual-Core Tegra 2 Chipset

While it is still elusive and might be harder to track down compared to any other tablet on the prep these days, LG’s Optimus Pad is now widely reported to go live in the first quarter of 2011, running a dual-core Tegra 2 chipset inside, along with Android’s next-gen version, Honeycomb, for the OS. According to the company’s roadmap slide, this 8.9-inch device, described by a senior official as a “tablet PC-version”, is likely to be a “superior” machine (whatever that means) with what they call “thinner and lighter” measures. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until next year to see if this “whole thing” is for real or just another PR blurbs.

Dell’s Leaked Roadmap Photo Reveals More Netbooks/Tablets Coming This Summer

Looks like known Android-powered slabs such as the 5-inch Streak and 7-inch Looking Glass tablet, are not the only ones that Dell is planning to launch at full scale this very busy summer. In fact, according to a roadmap image acquired by Android Central guys exclusively, the Texan corp appears to have plenty more goodies, safely kept and well hidden under its dark out-of-range garner. And this ain’t a Dell fanboy talking trash, you know, this is something real, something concrete, that most geek audience should lend an ear to. This time, we have two Moblin devices ready to break cover and go under the spotlight in early and late Autumn. The first, known as the Sparta netbook tablet, packs an 11-inch 1024 x 768 display, paired with ARM Cortex processor, along with a special swivel base and a batch of optional connections, including WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G WWAN. The second in this session is the 0.9kg Athens “true” netbook, boasting that same similar ingredients its Sparta sibling has, like the aforementioned ARM processor and those several optional connectivity modules. This one however tucked with a non-swivel 11-inch platform. The third in that page, is the 7-inch Looking Glass Pro Android tablet which appears to be exactly like Dell’s neat Looking Glass Android tablet, spotted by engadget folks, couple days before. And then, there’s another one in this class, the LG Pro, which features premium components like advanced “HD screen” and digital TV tuner on top of the very basic fare. Finally, and most exciting for us on a personal level, is the 5-inch Streak, which according to this document suppose to come out in three different lanes: the US T-Mobile and European Vodafone versions, slated for this summer as well, while Chinese flavors are set for a Q4 release under all major carriers. Apple iPhone SDK Event: Keynote Summary

Apple’s iPhone roadmap SDK event at “Town Hall” in Cupertino has answered our expectations with 7 major announcements from El Stivo. The keynote has introduced us as follows:

  • Apple announces iPhone SDK package.
  • iPhone gets multi-touch games.
  • iPhone receives AIM services.
  • Apple enables VOIP over WiFi.
  • iPhone gets native Exchange support, including push E-mail, calendars, and ActiveSync.
  • iPhone SDK available for free from today, requires $99 developers membership.
  • iPhone firmware update version 2.0 hits in June.

It’s not that we were strangers to most of today’s new announcements, on the contrary, we’ve been craving for them since the day the iPhone was launched, and finally they are here. Lets view some of them in a nutshell:

Apple’s iPhone SDK

For months we’ve been hearing tons of speculations about it, but today, we finally get a chance to look at Apple’s long-awaited iPhone SDK pack and stand on this exciting developer kit essence. Based on OS X Xcode source code, Cupertino will provide iPhone developers the same API and developing tools, used by Apple, including Cocoa Touch app framework, 3-axis accelerometer, access to an interface builder – providing drag n’ drop structuring of the GUI and automated power management, location enabled app, 3D graphics accelerators, full access to media capabilities and to the iPhone simulator, in order to experiment and run the developing application on OS X.
