Litl 12.1-Inch Webbook Announced, Little Netbook For a Big Price

Think there are too many portable machines out there? Make a room for one brand more – this time from Litl – a Boston-based company, recently unleashed the Webbook “web computer” netbook, that looks somehow different and priced above the average. It comes with a 12.1-inch 1280×800 display, uniquely featuring an upside down flipped patented-pending hinge comprised with an integrated scrolling wheel, right on top (the blue button). In addition, for a whopping $699, you get a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, paired with 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g WiFi connection, USB 2.0 ports and HDMI output, pumping 720p from your family video shots. Storage capacity ridiculously stands at 2GB(!) only, but the platform for itself  – specially designed by Litl – is exclusive, and mainly shaped to serve as a web-optimized OS, with Flickr, Facebook, and Weather Channel widgets, perfectly displayed on the front. A tiny remote control is also included, as long as you pay $19 more, which bring us to our price rates index, that eloquently gives the Webbook a one big EXPENSIVE score.

Update: We’ve added a nice hands-on video from CES 2010, featuring Litl 12.1-inch Webbook in action. It looks great and works pretty well as a secondary device, targeted for multimedia or Web content users, but it won;t make you coffee in the morning, although it might wake you up with this cool animated alarm clock inside. eviGroup's 10-Inch Pad Tablet Announced, Personal Assistant Included

We barely find these days portable media devices that get released with an artificial intelligence software, which can practically serve as your day by day personal assistant. However, we do see a lot of Internet and tablet machines, being launched on a daily bases, across the globe. One of those hybrid units that bravely combines all of the above, and stuffs them into a one tiny “piano-finish” frame, is eviGroup’s 10.2-inch Pad Tablet, that boasts (besides this 1024 x 600 display) a WiFi connectivity together with 3G WWAN, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, three USB ports, a 1.3MP webcam, a built-in microphone, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard-drive to keep your files inside. The system that operates this entire platform is Microsoft’s Windows 7, which comes preloaded with the optional Seline10 robotic creature that basically activates everything you do, either it’s text, handwriting, interface navigation and even voice controls. Seline seems to easily recognize your different moves, and technically transform them into actions. Regretfully, the company hasn’t yet unleashed any preview videos to demonstrate this ten years technology development working in practice. Nevertheless, collecting just under €500 ($745) out of your savings, will get you one, whenever it comes around.

Asus Debuts With 1005HE-WS And 1005HE-WS, New Windows 7 Starter Eee PC Netbooks

We knew it was just a matter of time until netbooks would eventually show up with Windows 7 bundled inside, and now that Microsoft’s superb operating system is officially up – looks like Redmond’s moment of truth has finally come. The new Seashell style models the Taiwanese actively plan for a mid-November launch are the 1005HR-WS and 1005HE-WS, which both include a 10.1-inch display, along with an Atom N280 processor, 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, a 0.3MP webcam and a 6-cell battery with up to 8.4 hours of working life. However, while the 1005HR-WS packs a WXGA platform (1366 x 768 resolution) and 250GB hard drive storage, its fellow, the 1005HE-WS, boasts a WSVGA flavor (whatever that means) and either 250GB HDD or 160GB HDD, to pick at your choice. Japan prices mention ¥49,800 ($545) for the “HR” edition, as “HE” buns will run for ¥46,800 ($510) or ¥44,800 ($490), depends on size.

Asus' Eee PC 1005HA "Business Edition" Netbook Is Live In Japan

For many, the 1005HA is probably considered as one of the best netbooks available around, but that as a fact didn’t seem to stop Asus from launching another. The latest, recently emerged in Japan, was tagged as a “business edition” flavor, which frankly, has nothing exceptional inside. In any case, for $700(!) you get yourself an Atom N280 processor, tucked with a 10.1-inch display, 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Windows XP Professional edition (no Windows 7?) and a 10.5 hours battery, for every single charge. Well, not exactly the best deal out there, is it?

Sony Vaio X Series Officially Announced, 11.1-Inch Display And 2GHz Intel Atom Processor Are In

It’s not a secret that Intel’s latest 2GHz Atom Processor is looking for new lavish netbooks to sit in, while making its way out to the market in the coming weeks. Now we’ve been told that Intel’s speedy CPU has finally found a fancy ultra-portable device to be accommodated, as Sony officially announces the Vaio X, an 11.1-inch netbook/notebook series that weighs only 1.6 pounds and made out of carbon-fiber materials. True, it ain’t going to be cheap, in fact you’ll have to pay a whopping $1499 – yes you’ve heard that right – one thousand four hundred and ninety nine dollars, that’s what you’ll be asked to shell out in order to get a slim Vaio X machine, including an Atom Z550 processor, tucked with an SSD drive, Windows 7  Home Premium edition, an integrated Verizon 3G slot and a 3.5-hour battery that is claimed to deliver up to 14 hours of work, in case you’re using the “super-extended” battery. Oh, and those of you who are crazy enough to buy one, will also receive a multitouch trackpad to flick and tap around – Duh.

In this video, you can see how thin the X series is and why Sony keeps hitting us with top notch machines. Truth to be told, price tag isn’t so friendly in this case, but that’d probably apply to many other products with such a lucrative design. Kohjinsha Dual-screen Netbook Concept Is For Real (Update: Now On sale)

Well, we didn’t expect this one, but it seems you can find whatever you want at the CEATEC show, that takes place in Japan these days. The object you’re looking at was recently spotted at the Kohjinsha tech booth by Akihabaranews team and seems to boast the “prototype” status at the moment. Besides that, Kohjinsha’s futuristic model packs two 10.1-inch TFT LCD screens at either 1024 x 600 or 1366 x 768 resolution, and can be used jointly and severally. Other than that, you get inside a cool swiveling base, along with some strong specs that include an AMD Athlon MV-40 processor, paired with a 160GB hard drive, up to 4GB of RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium onboard. Regretfully, at this point, we have no price or release dates to share, but be sure we’ll be there to bring them on whenever they get shown.

Update1: It seems to happen faster than expected – as we now hear that Kohjinsha’s 10-inch dual-screen netbook goes on sale these days with a 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo processor and RS780MN chipset onboard, both sitting next to an ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics, a 3-in-1 card reader, 1.3MP webcam, 3 X USB hubs, WiFi, 1GB of RAM and same capacity drive, standing at 160GB of storage. Battery suppose to deliver up to 4.5 hours of work, while weight is surprisingly light for the overall package, 4.09 pounds (1.84 kg) only. Shipping is set to start 3 weeks from now, worldwide, as prices start with a ¥95,800 ($1,110) package that includes a Linux version, and climb up to ¥100,800 for the Windows 7 Home Premium flavor. Get it now if you need a portable multiple action in your hands.

Swordfish Net 102 Dual Netbook Released, Packs Two Atom Processors Inside

We’re not sure what it means in terms of performance, but Swordfish Net 102 Dual netbook device is claimed to have dual 1.6GHz Atom N270 processors inside (instead of a single one), seating under a 10.2-inch 1,024 x 600 display and hanging around a 160GB hard drive, 2GB of RAM, a 1.3MP camera, optional WWAN and a weak, generic 3-cell battery which operates under a Windows XP OS. The entire system is now being offered either in black, yellow, red or silver flavors, while price tag stands at $449. RAmos' Android-based W7 MID Officially Goes Live

RAmos are best known for their PMP devices, but the Chinese company seems to be reaching these days some more mainstream machines, with the official Android-based W7 MID announcement, which unveils a 4.8-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, powered by a strong ARM9 chipset platform and a 600MHz Rockchip RK2808 architecture that technically decodes any common 720p videos in a swift. Besides that, you get a full fledged Android OS to handle RAmos’ system smoothly, while specs wise, you also receive a built-in wifi antenna paired with 3G WWAN connectivity and 8GB or 16GB storage capacities to choose from. Availability is yet to be determined, but prices have already been set to $190 and $234, respectively. Stay tuned.

Microsoft’s Multi-Touch Courier Tablet Pops Up In The Wild, Brings WOW effect Into The Room

So the guys at Gizmodo were lucky and generous at the same time, to share with us the future of touchscreen tablet PCs, the way it looks through Redmond’s eyes. The “top-secret” model that was surprisingly exposed out of the labs called the Courier, and seems to portray a sort of a futuristic booklet prototype that presumably packs dual 7-inch displays that can be used either with a stylus pen or multitouch gestures. A built-in 3MP camera seems to be included as well at the back cover, while “home” button is  placed at the middle, sending users back to default page whenever they want. Charging mode is believed to be inductive (like Palm Pre’s Touchstone), while both external design and UI platform are said to be made in collaboration with outsourced agencies. The rest unfortunately is still considered enigmatic, but to get a sense of feeling just hit the jump, watch the video and start dreaming.

Update1: ZDNet guys are saying the entire Courier platform is hovering a Windows 7 OS (although you can’t install Windows 7 apps on it) , and that the mission is being defined as “an incubation project” which aims to go live somewhere on mid-2010.

Update2: Engadget says the Courier will function as a “digital journal”, based on that gorgeous Windows Zune HD platform we’ve seen before, powered by Tegra 2 chipset (no official confirmation yet). We’ve added two  HD videos of that revolutionary interface. check them out, after the break.

Viliv S10 Tablet Netbook Shows Up, Swivel Touchscreen, Windows 7 and 10 Hours Battery Included (Update: Now Official)

We already know Viliv and the highly rated MIDs and UMPCs it makes, but even though, the Koreans won’t settle with scarce line of products and apparently these days, are showing off at IDF 2009, their new portable series which seems to include the S10, which looks like a new 10-inches tablet netbook device that technically packs 1,366 x 768 resistive swivel touchscreen, but also Intel’s Atom 1.33GHz or 2.0GHz processors (the 2.0GHz CPU isn’t available yet) and Windows 7 OS, the premium version. Besides that, Viliv lets you choose between 32 or 64GB SSDs (at 70MBps read rates), together with an optional 3G WWAN, 1GB of RAM, a 10 hours battery that runs at one single charge and a built-in webcam, probably a 1.3 megapixels one. Still no word when or where this White/Black hues unit suppose to go live (more likely around Q4 09), but starting price is claimed to stand at $500. Update1: Apparently, Viliv’s S10 tablet netbook just turned official. The 10.1 inch multitouch swivel screen, known as the Blade, integrates 4G mobile WiMAX and 3G HSPA connectivity inside. In addition, viliv has also launched the 4.8-inch clamshell MID, N5 which packs 3G and WiFi as well. PR after the break.

TabletKiosk's 12.1-inch Sahara NetSlate a230T Tablet PC Introduced, a Non-friendly Price Tag Attached

TabletKiosk storms into the tablets market with a new 12.1-inch tablet pc device which apparently boasts the desert-like name, Sahara NetSlate a230T, and seems to have Intel’s Atom N270 processor along with some other cool specs that include either a mandatory 120GB hard drive or the optional SSD flavor, 1GB of RAM (upgradable to 2.0 GB), Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Dual-Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, an optional 3G/3.G WWAN Module, and design wise, a sleeky rounded-edges frame, housing two stereo speakers on both sides. Display, as mentioned, sized at 12.1-inch and sports a multi-touch screen experience, in case you’re using the embedded Windows XP OS, although the company will also provide some other alternatives on top of that, like openSUSE Linux version or Microsoft’s Windows Vista OS, which practically grants users a free copy of Windows 7, the moment the platform comes out . At that end, the a230T tablet machine is now listed on TableKiosk’s online shop, ready to be shipped right away – but before getting one, talk with your banker, it’s $1395 for the entry level model.

UMID's M2 Mini Netbook Device Sprouts Out Loud With Windows 7 Inside

Korean company UMID didn’t have much of a success when first launched its 4.8-inches M1 mini netbook version, a few months ago. But now, after finally fixing up some of the main issues that turned its first round somehow repelled, a new edition, which carries the name “M2” has risen up from the dark, and is now ready to be rolled out somewhere towards the end of the year, for a much cheaper price of $499 (instead of $765). First thing you’ll notice is the screen, that apparently flips out and turns widely open on the M2 (thanks to the new hinge), compared to its very angle-limited predecessor. This fact will help new M2 users hold the unit comfortably in their hands and type the keyboard in a more convenient way than previously done. Other thing you might be noticing, is the real USB port that was hooked to UMID’s M2 revamped chassis, which doesn’t necessarily require any dongles to connect. Besides that, the company has also integrated an optical mouse, that seats on front of the M2 bezel frame, while both left-right buttons were placed to the left. As for internal specs, you get to choose between 1.2 or 1.6GHz Intel Atom processors, which will presumably operate under the much expected Windows 7 OS and a larger 1GB of RAM. Other than that, UMID will probably stick to most of the parts, included in M1, but that’s for us to find out in the coming months. Update: Turns out UMID M2 is now known as Onkyo BX, but besides the re-branding process nothing substantial has really changed. It still has that Intel 1.2GHz Atom Z515 processor, along a 4.8-inch 1024 x 600 LCD, a 32GB SSD and 512MB of memory. Design remains the same as well, so does the price – ¥64,800, or $730. Asus ION-based Eee PC 1201N Netbook Surprisingly Makes Its Way Out In Asia (Update: Now Official Worldwide)

It’s only been three weeks, since our wondering eyes first came across Asus’ 120N Nvidia Ion-based netbook machine, hiding out in a much speculated Eee PC road map slide that popped out in the wild. And here we are, not so long after, talking about it as a certain thing, scheduled for release somewhere this Autumn with a $500 price tag range and a high resolution 12-inch panel (1,366 x 768). And if we’d all be speaking Chinese well, the 250GB hard drive that Asus has stuffed inside, sitting along with 2GB of RAM, Intel Atom N270 processor, 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11n WiFi connectivity, probably wouldn’t make us surprised – well, maybe this N270 CPU, which seems to be too slow for such an input. Stay tuned, it should be hitting Western shores, packed with a Windows 7 OS, in a month or so.

Update1: Look, the guys from Eee PC Italia just got their hands on Asus 1201N and 1201HA full specs list and shared them online. Basically, both netbook machines will presumably pack a 12-inch 1366 x 768 displays, while the 1201N, which suppose to be the strongest among the two, will include a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N330 dual core processor, 3GB RAM, NVIDIA ION (GeForce 9400M) graphics chipset and 320GB hard drive, as its entry level sibling, the 1201HA suppose to have a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 CPU, along with Intel US15W / GMA 500 graphics, 2GB RAM and 250GB hard drive. Update2: Apparently, Asus Eee PC 1201N is scheduled to be released in Europe somewhere towards the end of the year (AKA: December), with this Atom Dual Core 330 CPU, Nvidia ION graphics chipset and a 12.1 1,366 x 768 display  – all compiled with a Windows 7 OS. Prices are yet to be determined.

Update3: Looks like the 1201N is up in Italy earlier than expected, offered on sale for 500 Euros – huzzah!

Update4: Now it’s official, as Asus has finally released its ION-based Eee PC 1201N machine, with all those nifty specs and cool features we’ve managed to see earlier, which include that 12.1-inch 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display, together with a 1.6GHz dual-core Atom 330 processor, either 2 or 3GB of RAM and storage capacity at 250 or 320GB HDD at your choice. Furthermore, you get a six-cell battery and Windows 7 Premium edition, already loaded aboard and running on your shelves somewhere around December for only $499. Update5: It seems the Eee PC 1201HA’s debut has finally arrived to the US, as Asus’ second 12.1-inch netbook, which sports a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520, together with 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, WiFi, and 6 hours battery, is up on sale on Best Buy, this time for the lower price of $329.99 but with an XP flavor pre-loaded inside. Seven fanboys should be skipping to the 1201N versionto catch up with Redmond’s latest version.

Update6: And, looks like Amazon has the Asus Eee PC 120N listed for pre-order, starting at $499 which will buy you a 12.1-inch display with Intel’s 1.6GHz N330 dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM (up to 8GB), 250GB HDD, WiFi, Bluetooth and last but not least, Microsoft’s Windows 7 Premium edition, already loaded into it. For the UK readers out there, this same version, only with an ION-based chipset will show up on your local Amazon somewhere around January 2010, priced at £399 (about $660). Stay tuned.

Vivienne Tam’s HP Butterfly Netbook Collection Starts Taking The Walk

Remember Vivienne Tam’s HP 1000 netbook edition? Turns out it now has a new “digital clutch” chic sequel, which recently showed up at New York’s Fashion Week catwalk show and said to be inspired by Chinese love story “Butterfly Lovers”. Thus, it’s all covered with light brown flavor and three beautiful butterflies, that according to Tam, “symbolize love, freedom, independence and transformation”, which are all suppose to be targeting modern women who admire the creation of “fashionable technology”. Regretfully HP hasn’t released any details about specs or pricing, until now, but with the clothing collection set to take off on Spring 2010, we seems to have plenty of time to bring’em on.

Epson's Atom N280 Endeavor Na02 Mini-V Netbook Unveiled

In case you’re one of those people who look for one of those netbooks to set you up with the usual and non-pretentious specs, Epson just might be the firm that has the right solution. And with the company’s Endeavor Na01 mini, already well established around the unfamiliar netbook machines in town, it looks like another outlandish fellow is yet to join the batch. But hey, don’t you start developing highly expectations this time, since Epson’s Endeavor Na02 Mini-V is not much of a difference. In fact, it has just about the same things its ten-months-old predecessor boasts, only this new one also packs a 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor (instead of Atom N270), that seats right next to a 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, 10.1-inch 1,024 x 600 display, a multi-card reader, WiFi connectivity and all the usual ingredients you probably know. Price tag is already set for ¥39,800 (about $427), with a shipping date, scheduled for November.

Sinchun UMPC-501 Atom-based Tablet Shows Up In Asia With All Its Charm

Care for yet another tablet pc to run your stuff? Looks like Sinchun Electronics might have something for you, as the Chinese company has just released the 5-inch UMPC-501 A tablet, which apparently boasts a Z510 Intel Atom processor, with a cool removable battery inside and 800 x 480 touchscreen display, placed beneath a 6.3 x 3.75 x .87 inches frame which practically weighs around 350g. Next, we have the SiRF Star III GPS navigation antenna, that seats right next to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections (3G HSPA is optional), with 1G of RAM on the board and storage capacity which gets up to 32GB SSD at your choice. Windows XP Home is expected to operate the entire system when this MID comes up this month for 3000 Yuan ($440).

Toshiba's 7-inch JournE Multimedia Tablet Unveiled

While Apple’s rumored tablet Mac is still on the prep and Arrington’s Crunchpad PC tablet doesn’t take off yet, it’s the Japanese giant Toshiba which steps up these days and catches the big tech headlines, around its latest impressive 7-inch tablet unit, that was first introduced at the IFA trading show in Berlin, yesterday morning. Naturally, like all tablet devices, Toshiba’s JournE multimedia machine is no different, with its sharp and wide touchscreen display, that packs underneath an SD slot expansion that seats right next to 1GB of internal storage (poor), an ARM4 processor, a 802.11b/g WiFi antenna, a 3.5mm headphone jack and even an HDMI connecting port which up-scales 1080p high-def movies with the  bundled dock station you get. Still in a prototype stage, the 14mm thick frame can easily handle all common codecs files available in the market, such as H.264, DivX, and WMV, but will also run some of the most popular online multimedia services like Flickr, Youtube, Picasa, Facebook and others. However, if that’s not enough, Microsoft’s Windows CE 6.0 Pro that runs the entire operation inside, is also provided with many of the OS goodies, including Explorer browser, MSN Messenger, internal video player and many more. Additionally, for those who prefer the non-finger usage, a stylus pen will be added as well, when this thing goes out to the market, somewhere in Q4 this year. Update: Apparently Toshiba’s JournE Multimedia tablet is claimed to include VoIP and ebook apps that will be available for downloading via a future app store, which the company planes to open. Assuming these two following roadmap slides, that recently surfaced up on Eeeuser.com, are real, one should expect seeing a lot of intensive activity from Asus direction, in the coming months, as the Taiwanese corp apparently planning to retake over the jammed US netbooks market, by tossing inside some new and advanced mini-laptop devices, hoping to convince all those tech junkie spendthrifts open their empty wallets wide and buy themselves a piece or two. However, with so many cheap and reasonably “specs balanced” alternatives available around, Asus journey, getting to early adopters’ geeky hearts is probably longer and much harder than it may look on the ground. Nevertheless,  according to these latest treasure troves, found in the wild, In Q3 and Q4 of 2009, we’re going to be seeing a brand new 1005HA-P unit, packing a 250GB HDD, paired with Atom N280 processor and offered with optional Windows 7 OS that will set you back for $399, with shipping arrangements, expected to get started somewhere in October. Another “Seashell” like, upgraded version, is the 1005HA-M Atom N270 unit, that runs a Windows 7  Starter Edition flavor and has 250GB HDD storage – all priced at $349. More on that, is the all new 12-inch 1201N Eee PC netbook which will likely include NVIDIA’s latest Ion platform, sitting next to Intel’s Atom N270 processor, 250GB HDD, 2GB RAM, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11n WiFi connectivity, set and ready to transfer your relays for $499, sharp when it’s up for release in mid-October. And last but not least are these two models, the 1008HA netbooks that somehow dropped out from the list, and the T91 multi-touch tablet that runs a copy of Windows 7 OS as well, while storage capacity features 32GB SSD and price tag stands at $549. Coby's New Netbooks Lineup Surfaces Up On Amazon With No Glamor

The moment you were thinking you’ve seen them all, another company has joined the netbooks pond. This time it’s Comby that officially unveils two mini-laptop models which recently showed up on Amazon for pre-order, as the first version, Coby NMPC1220XPBLK, comes with a 12.1-inch display, together with traditional specs, including Intel’s 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 160GB hard drive, while second device, Coby NBPC1022XPBLK, is a 10-inch machine that literally packs the same traits like its elder brother, only for less the price. And speaking about prices, Coby’s new netbook devices will set you back for $423 and $318, respectively. Too bad they’re only being offered in this fugly Gray hues.

Nokia's First 3G Booklet Netbook Introduced, Comes With GPS, HDMI And SIM Slot Expansion

We’re already used to names like Asus, Toshiba, LG, Lenovo, Samsung and MSI when speaking about netbooks, but hey, look who’s here – it’s Nokia – who tries to make its first steps within this arena, by distinguishing itself from others with a brand new booklet device that packs some very cool specs, including the usual Atom processor, paired with an SD card reader and integrated Bluetooth connection, but also with some unique and advanced features like built-in A-GPS (works with OVI Maps), 3G/HSPA broadband, SIM card slot, an HDMI output, n module WiFi connectivity and 10.1-inch high-def resolution display, to run your entire video depository, sharply. Surprisingly, the 2.75 pounds (1.25 kg) ultra-portable aluminum chassis is claimed to deliver up to 12 hours of battery usage (impressive!), while colors wise, it has Black, White and Turquoise flavors to offer. Unfortunately, there’s no word on price or availability at this early stage, but we promise to update as soon as any relevant info pops out. Until then, hit the break and watch the videos.

Update1: Looks like Nokia’s new Booklet machine will boast a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530, paired with a 120GB hard drive and integrated 3G connectivity. Price wise, it will set you back for somewhere around $799, but these are just rumors.

Update2: More details about Nokia’s Booklet 3G netbook device start surfacing up above the ground and shedding more light on this cool and expensive Finnish wonder. Apparently, Nokia’s new mini-laptop device is claimed to be shipped with that 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor we’ve been talking about earlier, while battery’s longevity was also confirmed – 12 hours working time, with Windows 7 running the entire operation and SIM card slot, added as well, to handle all 3G communication. Other than that, you get to choose from black, ice (white) and azure (blue) colors, all measured at 0.78-inches thick frame that includes 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 120GB hard drive, a 10.1-inch LCD (1,280 x 720 resolution), integrated GPS navigating system paired with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, an SD card reader, three USB 2.0 ports and even an HDMI connection. Release dates are yet to be determined, but with staggering price that stand at €570 ($810), seems like no one will actually be waiting for it outside.

Update3: Nokia’s Italian online store has it now, up for pre-order, but the price is even higher than expected, as the 3G Booklet netbook is listed there for €699 ($1,021 USD), which apparently includes VAT and some other increment. Too bad, and ridiculous if we may add.

Update4: We’re not sure either it’s Greece or some other languages, but the new unboxing video, which can be found right after the break, is definitely one of the first ones that shows Nokia’s new 3G Booklet machine live.

Update5: According to Nokia itself, the Booklet 3G is about to hit O2 Germany in two different flavors, as first one, O2 MyHandy package, is being offered with a one time fee of €249 and a monthly tariff of €20 over the next 24 months, while the second,  O2 wireless deal is €25 a month, including the service price, two years sharp. Not exactly the best bargain around.

Update6: We’re getting there. AT&T is one carrier that will offer Nokia’s highly-priced 3G Booklet for “just” $299 with a 2-year contract and a $60 monthly fee. Someone’s getting affordable, eh?

LG X-Note Mini X130 Netbook Announced, Sports Up To 12 Hours Battery

Korean giant LG announces another X-Note netbook edition, this time it’s the Mini X130, which apparently looks pretty much similar to previous versions, only with a 9-cell battery that can deliver up to 12 hours of working hours and up to 7 and a half hours of video playback – very cool, isn’t it? And while price tag stands on 789,000 Won ($639), you might consider getting one either in Black, White, or Pink colors, the company offers. Battery aside, the new X130 boasts the usual specs, including a 10-inch 1024 x 600 display, along with a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, 802.11 b / g / n WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR support, and the standard Windows XP OS onboard. Gigabyte Atom N280 T1028X TouchNote Goes Live In Europe

Apparently, Gigabyte wants even more when it comes to netbooks in general and tablet netbooks to be more specific. And while recent models like M1022, S1024 And T1028 are already available in the market, the company releases the new T1028X version in Europe, equipped with even better specs, that include a 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 swivel display, along with an Atom N280 processor (instead of N270 on previous models), up to 2GB of RAM, built-in microphone, 802.11b/g/n wifi connectivity, dual stereo speakers, a 6-cell 7650 mAh battery, 160GB HDD, 4-in-1 card reader, three USB 2.0 ports and a 1.3MP webcam. As mentioned, the T1028X machine is up and available to buy, offering some optional add-ons like embedded HSDPA and Wimax support, but bare in mind it will cost you, and a lot, as basic device will set you back for  €622 ($875), which is pretty expensive for this category, to say the least. Samsung's ION-based N510 Netbook Is Up For a Pre-Order In Europe

While anxiously waiting for ION-based netbooks to finally show up in the market, Korean giant, Samsung, has already made it available for a pre-order, with its latest N510 netbook machine, which is expected to go live in Europe somewhere around September, priced at €499 (about $718), packing  an 11.6-inch 1 366 x 768 display, along with Atom N280 processor, 6.5 hours battery NVIDIA’s ION chipset, paired with 9400M graphics, to handle 1080p high-def videos smoothly. Other specs include expandable 1GB of RAM, 1.3 megapixels webcam, 3 x USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI output, WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR,  3 in 1 card reader slot and  160GB SATA II HDD. Update1: Apparently, Samsung’s desirable N510 ION-based netbook  will make its way Stateside somewhere around September for a whopping price of $599. Sometimes, you have to pay to be one of the first, experiencing top-notch technologies, eh?

ViewSonic's Atom N280 VNB101 Netbook Shows Up in Taiwan

Surprisingly, non of us has actually seen a lot of netbooks action from ViewSonic, but clearly it was just a matter of time until the company will take first steps into this crowded market, and it finally did, with recent announcement, indicating a new VNB101 machine that suppose to include Intel’s Atom N280 processor, along with a 10.2-inch 1024×600 display, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, a 3400mAh Lithium-Polymer battery, an optional 3G SIM card hub and either red, black or champagne colors to choose from – All priced around $485 in Taiwan. Not sure when this new device will make any appearance Stateside, but meanwhile, you can take a look at Netbooks News first video hands-on after the break.

Update: Viewsonic has also released an entry level netbook, the VNB100, which is an Atom-based device, paired with similar specs like its VNB101 sibling, with optional ExpressCard slot and built-in 3G modem. NEC VersaPro VS-7 netbook Gets a Closer Look In Japan

NEC’s super slim Atom Z540 (1.84GHz) VersaPro VS-7  netbook has already made its Japanese debut somewhere in May, but only now gets a closer look, as Akihabara News has taken it for a first ride, coming back full of superlatives about “flawless” HD video the machine can deliver and “freaking light” design the device weights (725g). Other than that, it boasts 64GB of SSD, a 10.6-inch 1208 x 768 screen display, 1GB of RAM to smoothly handle everything that runs,  three USB slots, Ethernet port and of course, a whopping  price of ¥176,000 ($1,850), which pretty well suits price tags from the “Land of the Rising Sun”. Point Of View Sets To Release Mobii 230 Netbook With ION Chipset And Vivid Flavors

We all know how much you’ve been anxiously waiting for Nvidia ION to start showing up inside netbook machines, boosting your HD capabilities to maximum level. Now, add yourself some crazy colors on top of it and get a Point Of View Mobii 230 netbook, packed  with a surprising Atom N230 processor (that mostly appears on nettops), together with a 10.2-inch 1024X600 display, an HDMI output, 1GB of RAM and 160GB HDD – All given a European price tag of €349 ($495). And when the company states our 1080p videos will surely run without stuttering and that DirectX 10 plus Shader Model 4.0 support are both included, a few more weeks of anticipation looks like a nerve racking.

Google Chrome OS Announced, Will Be available In 2010

Google has just thrown a bomb to the IT world, announcing a new Chrom OS platform that suppose to give an open-source solution mainly for netbooks but also for full-size desktop systems, and is expected to go live somewhere on the second half of 2010. Additionally, the new OS from Mountain View, CA is claimed to smoothly run any x86 and ARM chips, while the company firmly says it already teamed up with manufacturers like Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments to bring you all the best and comprehensive UI you’d get, so stay tuned for a lot more to come. Here’s what Google’s blog had to say, in a nutshell:

“Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we’re already talking to partners about the project, and we’ll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. Sony To Announce The VAIO W Atom N280 Netbooks In Japan

Think you’ve seen them all? Try again, as Sony FINALLY joins the netbook world, officially announcing the VAIO W series, which suppose to get a Japanese release somewhere this August for a pricey tag of ¥60,000 or about $629. Other than that, Sony’s new VAIO W machine, or in its industrial name the VPCW119XJ, boasts pretty much the same specs we’re all familiar with, including a 10.1-inch display running at 1366 x 768 pixels, along with Intel’s Atom N280 (1.66 GHz) processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard-drive, GMA 950 Graphics accelerator, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi connection, Bluetooth, Ethernet, built-in camera, 3-cell battery support supporting 3.5h of work (6-cell optional), Windows XP onboard, a trendy VAIO chiclet keyboard (86% the size of regular one) and myriad of colors to choose from, such as Black, Sugar White, Berry Pink and Cocoa Brown, all stuffed inside a 267.8mm x 27.5mm x 179.6mm device. Medion's 11.6-Inch Akoya Mini E1312 Netbook Introduced, Has AMD Processor Inside

Not sure if Intel has any reason to be worried, but looks like more and more companies start ditching the Atom-based processor and jump on AMD’s trendy CPU wagon, with Gateway, only recently implementing the Athlon 64 L110 inside its LT3100 11.6-inch netbook and now Medion, housing the Sempron 210U processor inside its latest Akoya Mini E1312 machine. But processors aside, Medion’s new netbook, has a lot more to offer with a nice 16:9 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 display inside, paired with ATI Radeon Xpress 1250 graphics accelerator and an HDMI output to boost your high-def videos. Other than that, you should expect getting 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive 3-in-1 card reader, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, 6-cell battery (9-cell optional), and Windows XP aboard – all priced at £339.99 (around $550) – from July 12th, exclusively at Aldi UK. With its LT2000 netbook edition, already available for over a month, Gateway is re-storming the market with a new  upgraded version, which carries the title LT3100 and houses a trendy 11.6-inch 1364 x 768 WXGA display, along with what appears to be AMD’s 1.2GHz Athlon 64 L110 CPU, instead of those regular Atom N270/280 processors, we all know pretty well. Pagatron's Vivid Netbook Bluntly Shows Up With Tegra Acceleration And Internet Friendly Shortcut Keys

Apparently, more Tegra machines start showing up across the pond, equipped with strong accelerating chips and ultra high-def video support, fluently running 1080p media files through HDMI ports, built inside . One of those honored guests that recently spotted in Computex is Pegatron’s ARM-based Vivid netbook, which sports NVIDIA’s desirable Tegra chipset, along with integrated stereo speakers, matte-finish display, an  HDMI port, SD card reader and two USB slots to match the list. Asus To Announce The Release Of Netpal Netbook In Collaboration With Disney

Apparently, Asus wants your kids to get into the portable netbook world from early stages of their life, otherwise how can you explain the new project the company is launching in collaboration with Disney, which suppose to go live, for $350, somewhere this year under codename Netpal. In terms of specs, the netbook itself packs an 8.9-inch display, along with 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive (16GB SSD optional), 802.11 WiFi connection and “Princess Pink” or “Magic Blue” external colors at your choice. Additionally, the kids will get a friendly Disney interface, customizable Disney character themes, and other Disney widget apps to play around, with their parents fully in charge. Archos To Introduce The Archos 9 Windows 7 Powered Tablet PC

While technology world is at its first steps getting into the portable touchscreen era, French corporation Archos was always there first to come out with the most advanced and sophisticated media devices around, and as of now, it seems the company had done it again with yesterday’s interesting announcement of the Archos 9 Windows 7 tablet PC, which is literally a 16mm thick / 800gm of portable netbook device, made in the form of tablet unit that boasts an 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreen, along with Intel’s Atom Z515 processor, up to 120GB of storage capacity, 802.11b/g WiFi connection, built-in Bluetooth 2.1 antenna, integrated 1.3MP webcam, 10/100 Ethernet port, two stereo speakers, a microphone and even an optional 3.5G HSUPA WWAN support. Official release is scheduled for somewhere around September this year, while prices start at 450 Euros ($630) for basic version and up to 500 Euros ($705) for the premium models. One of the cool things about tech shows, is that you get a chance to find products and companies you wouldn’t hear about on a daily bases, and speaking of which, a company named Lengda has recently introduced the first stainless steel netbook ever made, with the usual 10.2-inch display and other regular specs, you already know, but also with additional extended 3G / TV-tuner antenna and a hefty 1.37 kg of weight, resulted from that stainless steel alloy, the chassis is made of. Still no word on price or availability, but apparently the company is prepping an aluminum version as well, in case that steel is too heavy to carry (Not!) . Taiwan's ARM-Based Mtube II Crams Both Android Tablet and XP Netbook In One Device

The idea of having both Android tablet and XP netbook, packed in one small portable device is lighting our imagination for quite some time, and when Taiwan’s Institute for Information Industry was recently introducing the Mtube II netbook / tablet hybrid machine at the Computex show, we knew we’re on the right direction with this one. The interesting combination of HP Mini 1000, coming with Windows XP flavor, and an Android tablet platform that can easily pulled out of the main body and serve as an independent touch unit, will probably reach the markets in a year or two, but at the meantime, having the ability to watch this wonder in action right here, right now, directly from our armchair is truly exciting, despite the poor processors that were integrated inside – VIA C7-M for the netbook and unspecified ARM processor with the Android tablet – and the screen, which is connected by VNC, providing a medicore video quality at most. Nonetheless, the technology for itself is pretty fascinating, so if you’d like to see this enlightening video for yourself hit the break and start dreaming.

Asus Eee PC T91 Will Support Multi-Touch Capabilities With Windows 7 Onboard

Remember the Eee PC T91 tablet netbook from Asus? Turns out it will support multi-touch handling with Windows 7 inside, as the Taiwanies officially unveiled full specs details of this cool swiveling machine, which includes an 8.9-inch touchscreen, together with Intel Atom Z520 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD. The cool thing about this one (as noted above) is that Asus will now have a capacitive touchscreen that will comply with multi-touch gestures, once installing Windows 7 inside, and if that’s not enough, the entire system will go for £449 ($684). NEC Brings Out To The Pond a Newer Hybrid Storage "LaVie Light" Netbook

NEC is about to update its netbooks lineup with a new LaVie Light hybrid storage edition, which is literally the 10.1-inch version in the series. But screen size aside, the latest LaVie Light netbook (AKA: BL350/TA6) also adds a more-classic design, along with a LED-backlit display, Atom N280 processor, 1GB of RAM, 802.11n WiFi, and the dual 16GB SSD and 160GB hard drives, sitting next to each other. Availability isn’t determined yet, but in terms of money, you’ll be able to get this one for an expropriated price of ¥70,000 (around $730), either in Black or White flavors. There are better options for this amount of money, don’t you think?

Acer To Implement Moblin Linux OS In Its Netbooks Lineup

Great news from Moblin Linux direction, as Intel’s free open-sourced platform will apparently receive a significant corroboration from Taiwanese corp Acer, who recently pledged on a computex conference to widely implement this phenomenal OS inside its desktop computers, laptop devices and Aspire One netbook machines, starting this year. And while anxiously waiting for self interaction, various editions of Moblin 2.0, including Suse, Xandros, Linpus, Red Flag, and Ubuntu were flauntingly demoed in that same press gathering, running on different portable netbook brands from HP, Asustek, MSI, and Hasee Computer, impressively raising our impatiemt feelings. But needless to say we’re constantly following, so just stay in touch for future updatings.

Looks like GPS navigation giant, Mio is making its first steps at the overcrowded netbooks market with the new 8.9-inch N890, which packs Intel’s Atom N270 processor, along with a 3.5G module, integrated GPS system, Mio navigation software, an accelerometer for landscape mode (on a netbook?) and a revolutionary MagSafe power connector – all to be available in Q3 of this year for an undetermined price. BenQ's 11.6-Inch Joybook Lite U121 Eco Netbook Announced

BenQ is out with a new netbook machine that suppose to give “a lot more for a lot less”, and you have to admit that’s exactly what you’ve been looking for on recession time. But without a given price, the only data you’ll have to settle with at this point is the specs themselves, which are quite impresive, to say the least. And getting into the core details, BenQ’s Joybook Lite U121 Eco is one of those extra sized netbook devices, having an 11.6-inch WXGA (1366×768) display and 100% full sized keyboard on top. Other that that, the Joybook unit will also include up to 500GB of HDD or 32GB SSD, along with Intel’s Atom Z520 / Z530 processors, 1GB of RAM, three USB2.0 sockets, 3-cell battery (with 6-cell optional), Built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, WiFi 802.11 b/g and optional 3.75G HSUPA connectivity. Mobinnova Elan Netbook Machine Introduced, Comes With Nvidia Tegra Inside

So the new generation of netbook devices starts floating up at the Computex show in Taipei, with powerful HD video accelerators, the kind that easily can push 1080P movie files without choking around. And getting down to the details, one of the first alluring machines to show up in this category is the 8.9-inch Mobinnova élan, which houses the NVIDIA Tegra platform, along with WiFi / 3G connectivity and strong battery, providing up to 10 hours of use. Regretfully, we’re short of any further info regarding pricing or availability, but you can hit the jump, there’s a PR announcement, together with a Windows CE UI video, smoothly running on this unit. And with that kind of capabilities, imagine how Windows 7 will look like.

Asus' 11.6-Inch Eee PC 1101HA Netbook Shows Up At Computex (Update: Now Available Stateside)

Well…well…well…What do we have in here? Apparently, Asus is finally having its own 11.6-inch netbook edition, also known as the Eee PC 1101HA – Not to be confused with the Mini 1101 version from HP. And while first day of the show is about to start tomorrow, looks like the guys at Engadget China “suspiciously” managed to spot a booth with this fency jewl, which presumably packs a battery that is claimed to deliver up to 11 hours of work, together with Intel’s Atom Z520 / Z530 processors, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, multi-card reader, three USB2.0 sockets and impressive screen resolution, exceeding the usual numbers and standing at 1,366 x 768.  Design wise, the new 1101HA Eee PC netbook clearly fits the Seashell lineup, but we’ll probably be smarter tomorrow morning, so stay tuned for more details to come.

Update1: And as we speak, Asus already released the Eee PC 1101HGO, which is pretty much the same as the 1101HA version, only with a 3G built in. Check out the image after the break.

Update2: Asus has finally got official with the 11.6-inch Eee PC 1101HA netbook, in Europe, with prices start at €399 ($555) and “end of June” scheduled shipment. Stay tuned for more details to come.

HP To Introduce The Mini 1101, 110 XP and 110 Mi Netbooks Lineup

HP reinforces its Mini netbooks lineup with brand new models, including the Mini 1101, 110XP and 110 Mi, armed from top to bottom with basic specs like 10.1-inch LED-backlit display, GMA 950 graphics set, VGA output, 802.11b/g WiFi connection, 3-cell battery (6 optional) and either 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 or 1.66GHz N280 processors at your choice. But If that’s not enough, each one of the three hides even more goodies, as the 110XP boasts 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD or 32GB SSD, along with a WWAN 3G hardware and a Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video Accelerator for 1080P video handling, while the 110 Mi carries HP’s Linux-based OS, together with 2GB of RAM and up to 250GB HDD. The third, out of the three, is the Mini 1101, which looks like a basic 110XP version, dropping the Broadcom graphics chipset and adding a Vista OS inside. In terms of price and availability, the 1101 is scheduled to arrive on June 1st, priced at $329, while the 110 alternatives will be joining a week and a half later in black swirl, white swirl or pink chic flavors, priced at $279 for the Linux version and $329 for the XP style. Update1: The guys at Tech65.org were lucky enough to get their hands on the Mini 110 netbook version and generously shared their first experience in a short video preview you can all watch after the break. New add-ons  aside, it seems like HP has made some delicate changes within the external design, ditching the “toggle-off” button around the trackpad and removing the speakers position right under the screen, while adding a matte flavor to the bezel frame in order to prevent mirror reflections. Hardware wise, you now get a 2.5-inch hard-drive (instead of 1.8″), which vigorously  supports 5400 RPMs, making your portable device even faster. Hit the jump to read more.

Update2: Looks like the HP’s Mini 1101 netbook version is finally up for sale at the basic form, priced at $329. Just click in here to get your first impression or wait for its sibling to make their appearance.

Update3: Both Mini 110 Mi and Mini 110 XP are up and available for ordering on HP’s website, priced at at $279.99 or $329.99 respectively, with an optional Intel Atom N280 processor for extra $25 or 6-cell battery for additional $40 to the base price.

Update4: Looks like the Mini 110 netbooks are getting additional colors to the lineup, as HP just added white swirl and pink chic versions to the product page, that will cost you an extra $20over the base price. Furthermore, the company is now offering an HD video boost  option, by adding Broadcom’s Crystal HD Enhanced Video accelerator to your machine for only $30 more.

Great news from Lenovo, as the company officially announces the new IdeaPad S12, which is considered to be world’s first Nvidia Ion-powered netbook device and one of the only to join this category with an impressive 12-inch display, that easily can handle HD content and high-end gaming maneuvers , thanks to the staggering 1280×800 screen resolution, we barely can find among Atom-based machines, nowadays. With a next month scheduled release, our true excitement goes to the Ion chipset platform, that crams both Intel’s Atom 1.6 GHz processor and Nvidia 9400m graphics set in one tiny mote that flawlessly accelerates 1080p video decoding tasks and smoothly plays Blu-Ray high-def technology scenes without statering reactions. Update5: Save the date,  Nvidia ION-based Lenovo S12 is finally out. The day is Thursday October 22nd, the place is Japan. The specs include a 12-inch 1280 x 800 display, 2GB of RAM, 250GB HDD, an HDMI port and multicard slot expansion. The price, ¥68,800 (about $755). What do we think? Too expensive at this point, but things will change on Western shores.

Update6: Now it’s official, the IdeaPad S12 is finally up on Lenovo’s online shop, listed in different configurations, as the Windows 7 edition runs for $599 and packs a 12.1-inch 1,280 x 800 display, along with a 1.6GHz N270 processor, a 250GB hard drive, a 256MB Nvidia Ion chipset, WiFi, Bluetooth, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 6-cell battery, and that Windows 7 Home Premium edition, pre-installed inside.

Microsoft To Release Recommended Windows 7 Specs For Netbooks

Already got yourself a new portable netbook device? Having  some thoughts about installing Windows 7 on it? Maybe you should hear  Redmond’s supportive opinion first, before replacing your already-existing XP version. According to Microsoft,  “small notebook” owners (netbook s) should be able to maximize their Windows 7 usability, once having a 10.2-inch display, together with 1GB of RAM, 250GB hard drive or 64GB SSD configuration inside their netbooks. Additionally, max specs should also include a single-core processor under 2GHz clock with no limitation at the “Touch” and “Graphics” spectrum . Mind you, these are maximum stats , so no one should really bother too much,  as most machines support those requirements out-of-the -box.  Nevertheless, working with Windows 7 for quite some time has brought us into the conclusion it’d be best getting at least 64GB hard drive before begining this new adventure.

Asus Eee PC 1000HV Netbook To Include Radeon HD3450 Graphics Card

Are you fed up with those endless netbook machines around? Make sure you have enough room for one more version to digest, as Asus recently announced the new Eee PC 1000HV Atom N280 edition, which allegedly includes the ordinary specs we’re all familiar with, but also a strong ATI Radeon HD 3450 graphics set, to take care your hefty video duties, such as HD content and gaming treats. Other than AMD’s powerful card (which isn’t that common among this laptop category) this sleeky portable device houses a 10.1-inch 1,024 x 600 display, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive and a VGA output to hook your new toy into a larger screen. Still no word on price or availability, but we’ll feed you in with the details as soon as they arrive.

Update: First benchmark results of the Radeon HD 3450 graphics set just came in, showing an impressive score of 37,430 points, compared to the 28,923 you’d get with the Asus 1000HE.� Make sure you hit the jump to see the complete comparison table.

Remember Moblin’s independent system, designed to run on your personal netbook? Well, here it is – Again! – This time even more impressive, with the 2.0 beta version going live, introducing a fascinating interface, visually rich and impeccably designed, housing tons of apps (divided into Zones), features and one taskbar manager to handle navigation between elements. Naturally, you get some widgets to play with, like calender, browser thumbnails, email client and the new kid on the block, Twitter.
