Panasonic HC-V520 Video Camera Features a Massive Intelligent 80x Zoom, With Wi-fi and NFC Capabilities

Videos have already become a vital part of our everyday life, as taking a footage is now a whole lot easier thanks to the popularity and innovation of intelligence mobile devices, like the iPhone for example. While shooting a video with your smartphone is comfortable, the quality is not as good as it is with a dedicated HD camcorder. And if you really don’t want to spend a ton of money on a camera but still like to get excellent results, the Panasonic HC-V520 has plenty of amenities and very cool things to offer.

This small and powerful Full-HD device, has a 1/5.8in CMOS under the hood, and a 2.51 megapixels sensor based on a backside illuminated technology. There’s also a sharp and bright 3-inch screen that enables intuitive fingertip touch-operation, and the optical zoom is supplemented by an 80x Intelligent Zoom. Pretty amazing, isn’t it?

As mentioned, there are plenty of features in this camera which is best suited for video, at which it works great (1080/50p AVCHD 2.0 format), but also as a very high quality 10 megapixels still camera. In addition to that, there’s the ability to add filter effects to your vids (such as Miniature Effect, 8mm Movie, Silent Movie and Time Lapse Recording) to further enhance your creativity, and the camera includes a 2D to 3D conversion function as well.

Want more? Not a problem! The HC-V520 is also equipped with WiFi and NFC connectivity that allows users to transfer pictures and videos wirelessly to mobile devices or computers. Moreover, the camera can be controlled remotely and can stream video to your smartphone or tablet via mobile networks and wireless internet connections.

Apple iPad 2 Officially Announced, Claimed To Be Thinner, Lighter and Faster

Apple has ended months of speculation by officially unveiling the iPad 2, company’s most anticipated second-gen tablet that will start shipping Stateside on March 11th and March 25th in other countries, with prices as follows: $499 (16GB), $599 (32GB), $699 (64GB), add $130 for 3G. The formal announcement which took place this morning at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California was super exciting, with Apple CEO Steve Jobs surprisingly taking the stage himself.

The iPad2 is only 8.8mm thick, 33% thinner than the original one (and thinner than iPhone 4), weighs 1.35 pounds, and has that same 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS display (Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating) that offers a full capacitive touch screen, supported by 1024-by-768-pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch. Apple promising a “nine times faster on graphics” 1GHz custom built A5 (dual-core) chip (twice faster on cpu), while tablet capacities are claimed to be the same traditional ones, at 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of flash storage.

The iPad2 comes either in black or White hues, with 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 plus EDR technology, as well as a large speaker on its back, microphone, 512MB or RAM, and a 30-pin dock connector, downstairs. The new iPad will also be available in a 3G flavor with speeds up to 7.2Mbps, while battery life is estimated at 10 hours or so. In addition, the industry giant and innovator says “…that 2011 will be the year of iPad 2” with 65,000 apps compared to 100 only on Google’s Honeycomb.

So, what else is new in iPad 2, you ask? Well, there are two built-in cameras inside, one on rear, capable recording a 720p video at 30fps, and a front-facing one, supporting 5x digital zoom. Some cool accessories that Apple is tossing, such as the HDMI video out which will run for $39, and a stunning smart cover case, made of materials like micro-fiber and “magnet” elements – that’s $39 for the plastic version or $69 for the leather.

Software wise, iOS 4.3 being announced (available for download on March 11, free of charge) with new iTunes Home Sharing features, Airplay updates, and Nitro Javscript Safari improvements, delivering much faster surfing results. Other than that, we’re looking at the new ability to “share your 3G connection via wifi” which is best known as Mifi personal hotspot, a lovely revamped Photo Booth edition, supporting nine live video streams at once, Apple’s FaceTime feature for video conferencing purposes , a whole new version of iMovie, that takes advantage of the iPad’s big screen (about $4.99) and the most famous “touch instruments” OS X app, GarageBand  that will join the lineup with 8track recording, 250+ loops, effects, amps and plenty stuff more for a very small price tag ($4.99).

Onda VX560 Touchscreen PMP Introduced, Bares Noble Aspirations To Be a Tablet

It’s been a while since we’ve last heard from Onda, but it seems like the Chinese brand has now managed to return to business, this time on a new shape and form embodied in a 7-inch slate/PMP device, known as the VX560, and might (just might) remind you of quite another tablet machine on another world entirely. But it’s not. In fact, it’s just a natural evolution of the product, that now boasts a 800 x 480 touchscreen display, stuffed with an ebook reader (supporting PDF, PDB, and CHM files), and outputs 1080p videos via HDMI, along some other common formats such as H.264-MKV, AVI, MOV, MPG, and FLV. Still no word about price or availability for our Western audience across the globe, but looks like Eastern chaps will get their chance to add one to the cart in the not too distant future.

ICD is no stranger to the growing interest in modern tablets technology at all. In fact, the company has already shown us some of its most unique and attractive Android-powered nifty slates, it has launched over the past three months, and boy they look good, aren’t they? Back then, no one seemed to care that much. Today, on the other hand, when multiple players (especially the big ones) such as Apple and HP, have taken the wraps off their own handy-dandy tablet machines, it’s a whole new world out there, and ICD seems to understand that pretty well, otherwise it wouldn’t have thought of launching yet another one, would it? And its latest revelation, also known as the Gemini, is definitely a game changer in this boiling sphere, with 11.2-inch 1366 x 768 capacitive touchscreen on top and some very impressive line of components seating under the lid – amongst you’ll find a 2 mp front-facing webcam along a 5 mp autofocusing slit on the back, FM radio, SD card reader, GPS, 802.11 b/g/ n WiFi connection, Bluetooth, HDMI, MicroUSB port, dual stereo speakers, a 40Wh removable battery and last but not least, Nvidia Tegra 2 SOC  – here that iPad, JooJoo, HP Slate et all? Pasen MID5 Android Machine Makes It Out

Pasen has been known for years for its average line of PMP products, but now, as it looks, the company has finally managed to somehow move on the  right direction with its latest and hopefully greatest MID5 android tablet – is that a tablet? Anyway, this 5-inch MID/Slate Android device boasts a 800 x 480 LTPS LCD display, along WiFi, micro SDHC slot, USB hub, Rockchip RK2808 processor, a built-in speaker and HDMI output, supporting 720p H.264 video files, as well as other common formats like AVI, MOV, DIVX, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, VCD, DVD, RM, or RMVB and audio codecs such as MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, or OGG. Battery wise, you get to play up to 10 hours of music tracks or about 4.5 hours of video playback, so wouldn’t you want one, after all?

ASUS Eee PC 1201PN Gets Nvidia’s ION 2 and Atom N450 Treatment

Asus has already proved it can go hand-to-hand with tech pace and bring up-to-date laptops that match the latest criteria one by one. And that is probably the reason the company has just released the Eee PC 1201PN, a Pine Trail netbook powered by Nvidia’s ION 2 graphics that suppose to replace the 6 months old 1201N which had the same looks, only with ION’s first chipset edition and a previous Atom N330 CPU version. The new one, which was spotted at the Taiwanese booth in CeBIT, packs a 12.1-inch 1366×768 LED display, along that Atom N450 Pine Trail processor, and NVIDIA’s Ion 2 for the graphics tone. Other than that, the 1201PN offers basic specs like 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi connection, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and 6 cell battery with working hours “TBD”. Update: And looks like the 12.1-inch ASUS Eee PC 1201PN, powered by ION 2 chipset, is now available on Amazon for a starting price of $484, which seems pretty impressive if we take into consideration that really amazing lineup, which includes a Intel Atom N450 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and NVIDIA GeForce 201M for the graphics.

Mio Moov V780 MID Breaks Cover Ahead Of CeBIT

Top-notch navigating systems with 3D maps and live traffic reports are probably some of the things that come to your minds when hearing the name Mio. And while GPS systems have turned to be part of our day-to-day usage, one can argue it would just be enough to satisfy today’s self indulgent clients. I mean, lets be series for a moment, don’t you want the all-in-one package instead of carrying so many gadgets around? Well, someone in MIO has already figured that out, otherwise we’d probably seen yet another nav box hitting our headlines, no? And getting into details, we speak about the company’s latest Moov V780 MID – Entertaining machine that has recently popped out with a 7-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen and should officially see first lights at CeBIT 2010. It has a strong 600MHz processor tucked with an HDMI output, DVB-T digital TV support, a built-in WiFi and optional WiMAX connection. Furthermore, it’s claimed to include the new Mio Spirit navigation software, but OS wise, you won’t be seeing anything but Windows CE running inside, not to mention an Android 2.0. Price and availability are still to be unveiled, hopefully this coming week, at the Hannover show.

Update: The good guys at jkkmobile have managed to put their hands on MIO’s new V780 MID while at CeBIT, and we’re lucky to have their video up and ready to be watched, right after the break. As you can see, the V780 will presumably offer an optional cradle where users will be able to place the V780 in and do their stuff with a real QUERTY keyboard attached – something we have seen in Lenovo’s U1 Hybrid machine, remember?

Philips’ GoGear Muse PMP Sprouts Out With Touchscreen and HDMI Output

It looks like the good guys at Philips have finally decided to invigorate their relatively known GoGear lineup with contemporary specs and a chic design. For this matter, the company has just rolled out the Muse, a 3.2-inch touchscreen PMP which boasts either 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB sizes at your choice, covered by a slim metal brushed chassis, etched with a single rocker button, down the lane. The player, that will hopefully go out somewhere this year, priced within the range of $155 – $185, is claimed to include a built-in FM tuner, a microSD slot (supporting up to 32GB cards), and a 720p HDMI output. It suppose to support most common audio formats through the open sourced Songbird player, instead of Windows Media Player (interesting!), and said to be capable of importing song lists from services like iTunes, Last.fm and 7digital. RAmos’ New T13FHD And T17FHD Touchscreen PMPs To Support Full HD Content

Chinese company RAMos has launch a new PMP lineup which includes the T17FHD and T13FHD models, both to handle 1080p videos adequately. Make no mistake, these are not MIDs or tablets, just media players with a built-in HDMI port and touchscreen display on top. Starting with the T13FHD, made of zinc alloy magnesium, you get  a 4.3-inch display along a USB host, TV output and a headphone jack, positioned to the left, while the second, T17FHD, literally sports the same screen size with 800 × 480 resolution, but also packs 16GB of flash storage, a microSD card slot, ebook reader compatibility and wide range of formats support, including H.264, MPEG1/2/4 decoding, MKV, RMVB, AVI, MOV, MPG, MPEG, DAT, MOV, MP4, MP3、WMA、WAV、RM、OGG、and JPG、BMP、PNG、GIF image files. No word about price or availability at this point.

Aluratek's 8.9-inch Cinepal PMP Is Too Big To Be True

We’re not used to such big players, the kind that recently announced by Aluratek at the CES show in Vegas, but that’s probably the fun part of discovering new gadgets, isn’t it? Well, maybe, depends who you’re asking and how portable it is. This one, the 8.9-inch Cinepal media player, doesn’t look so handy, especially when it’s hard to determine whether it’s a digiframe, a tablet, a PMP or just an e-reader. The answer probably falls somewhere in between. Anyway, you can get it next month for $179, that will grant you 4GB of internal storage, together with an SD / SDHC expansion slot, a 6 hours of battery time and wide range of codecs compatibility, including DivX DRM, AVI, VOB, DAT, MPEG, H.264, MKV, MP3, WMA and JPEG files support. It would also run your 720p video files wherever you go, but frankly, we can’t imagine ourselves taking it for a journey or a quick short walk. PR stuff after the jump.

HP Blasts With Mini 5102 Netbook, Cramming Atom N450 And Optional Capacitive Touchscreen Under The Lid

Remember the Mini 5101 that HP released 6 months ago to target high-end customers with business related aspirations? Turns out it’s not alone – as a matter of fact it has a new twin brother that carries the title Mini 5102. The latest, which belongs to the growing Pine Trail family, packs inside an Atom N450 processor along a 10-inch display, offered with a WSVGA or WXGA panels. But as a premium portable device, one can guess it boasts a lot more than usual. What else is new? We’re talking about a Broadcom HD video accelerator, added to the pile, while keyboard is at 95% from the regular one. Besides that you can toss inside any possible operating system available, either it’s FreeDOS, SUSE Linux, Windows XP or Windows 7 Starter/Premium editions. Battery wise, you can choose between 4-cell and 6-cell flavors, but the most attractive alternative, marked as optional, is that super cool capacitive (multitouch) touchscreen which turns that netbook into a tablet (well, not exactly, but you know what I mean). It ain’t going to be cheap, boys and girls, but we still can;t tell how much and when. PR words added after the break.

Update1: Apparently, the Mini 5102 cover is made out of a stunning brushed aluminum plate and the chassis hides an optional handle for ‘A-grades’ students. Checkout the hands-on video the good people at engadget just shared.

Intel’s Pine Trail platform is live, kicking and ready to go. The latest introduction of that series comes from Dell and its Inspiron Mini 10 which is now reported to include the Atom N450 processor, which suppose to give a little boost to that Windows 7 Starter the netbook runs. Besides that, for a starting price of $299 you should see basic specs like 10.1-inch 1024×600 display,160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM and 3-cell battery, all packed under that same slick and squarish hood. However, for extra charge you’re being offered – and whether or not you want to accept it’s up to you – to enhance your experience with a 1366 x 768 display, a six-cell battery, producing 9.5 hours work time in one single charge, four shiny colors, Bluetooth, WWAN, GPS, TV tuner and a strong Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator for flawless high-def chime – that would probably cost you few hundreds dollar more, but should be worth a try. RAmos' 5-inch T11TE Joins The Growing HD PMP Lineup, But Makes No Difference

Chinese corp RAmos seems to be releasing HD players on a monthly bases – our feeling only – and those of you who’ve been thinking it would slow down a bit, should think again, as the company rolls out yet another one, the T11TE, priced at $177.45 and houses a 5-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, paired with microSD slot expansion, 16GB of flash storage, dual 3.5mm jacks(?) and of course, a 1080P HDMI output, to pump high-def videos on your tele – although it runs other common formats such as DAT, MPG, MPEG,VOB, MP4, MOV, AVI, DVD Video, ASF, WMV, MKV, TS, RM,and RMVB. Other than that, this half-inch thick PMP will record voices, thanks to its built-in mic or help you share your music around, with those integrated stereo speakers it boasts. No word whether it would make its way Stateside or not, surely it won’t keep that “new player” title for long.

MSI MT-V887 PMP Introduced, Got HD Video Support To Brag About

MSI is about to enlarge its growing HD PMPs lineup, proudly releasing the MT-V887, which apparently follows the company’s high-def trend, packing a Rockchip RK2728B chipset that can broadcast H.264 and 720p videos, once get pumped on a tele, via composite/component outputs, already built into the chassis. However, those who prefer watching through the integrated 4.3 inch display, will have to settle with merely 480 x 272 screen resolution, which practically downgrades their view quality to usual standards and make it look less sharp, less crisp than they really are. Besides that, for an undetermined price/availability, this Chinese media player will also offer either 4GB or 8GB capacities at your choice, together with a text reader, a multi-language interface, a built-in mic, and slick robust frame, crammed with silver or black colors. Western arrival is doubtful, our desires are mute. Stay tuned for further updates.

Newman A36HD PMP Announced, Tech World Hasn't Changed

Here we are, standing again with Chinese corp Newman, that recently announced its latest A36HD device, which apparently boasts a regular 3-inch display (no touchscreen), along a microSD card slot, 4GB or 8GB capacities to choose from, the regular audio-video lineup and a nice slick silver frame, covering it all from every possible direction. As probably figured from those “HD” initials, marked in its name, this 8mm thick PMP supports 720p videos when pumping them out on your LCD TV, through the integrated TV-output, already been included. Other than that, it packs a usual built in mono speaker, to let you share your music loud, and a 3.5mm Jack in case you want to have some privacy. No price or availability details to be mentioned yet, but be sure they will probably stay relevant for Eastern residents only.

Viewsonic's VPD400 MovieBook Media Player Officially Sprouts Out (Update: Along VPD500)

Viewsonic officially gets into the portable HD-compatible world, announcing the VPD400 MovieBook, a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 media player, supporting 720p video files along other common media formats, including AVI, RM/RMVB, FLV, MP4, MOV, PMP, MPG, VOD, DAT, H.264, H.263 and MP3, WMA, WAV, FLAC, APE, OGG for audio. Other than that, this stylish all-in-one device – sized only 113mm x 74.5mm x 13.8mm – sports 8GB of internal memory, together with a micro SD slot expansion and AV Output for full sized TV entertainment. Battery is set to work 12 hours of audio playback and six if you’re watching a video. that, as a fact, would give you the benefit of watching HD movies, view photos and read any digital book whenever on the go. Too bad it lacks a WiFi connection, but color wise you get to choose out of Black, White or Pink. No price or availability details available at this point.

Zune HD Firmware Update v4.3 Goes Live, Wider Keyboard and 3D Games support Included

Check this out guys, Microsoft has just rolled out firmware version 4.3 for its fabulous Zune HD players. The update, originally released in order to solve pesky playcount syncing issues, surprisingly adds/upgrades some neat UI features – amongst you can find the long awaited 3d games and applications support, together with a wider touchscreen keyboard and autofill text suggestion bot. Other improvements offer a faster browser and better webpages rendering engine, while apps and loading time have turned slightly snappier than before. The v4.3 release is now available when clicking “Player Update” in your Zune, so hurry up and make it vibrant.

Update: In addition to that new Zune HD firmware update, Microsoft has released a slew of pretty cool (and free) 3D games – already available through the Marketplace slot – amongst you can find titles like PGR: Ferrari Edition, Lucky Lane Bowling, Vans Sk8: Pool Service, Piano, Checkers, and Audiosurf. Creative Zii EGG Prototype Finally Gets The Android Treatment

Still in development, the Zii EGG prototype – which hopefully will go live somewhere next year – is one desirable media device we’d like to see floating around. With a 3.5-inch multi-touch display, WiFi, GPS, and 1080p HD support – it just can’t go wrong. In fact, it seems to be walking the right directions, with its mother company, Creative, choosing the Android 1.6 path, and making it look pretty promising on this new nifty portable bud. Too bad the entire UI is a bit sluggish and the integrated webcam is not exactly functional (not to mention the inaccurate signal marks at the top). Yet, it’d surely improve in the next build, we’re positive, very very positive. But ’till then, hit the jump and watch the video.

Asus ION-based Eee PC 1201N Netbook Surprisingly Makes Its Way Out In Asia (Update: Now Official Worldwide)

It’s only been three weeks, since our wondering eyes first came across Asus’ 120N Nvidia Ion-based netbook machine, hiding out in a much speculated Eee PC road map slide that popped out in the wild. And here we are, not so long after, talking about it as a certain thing, scheduled for release somewhere this Autumn with a $500 price tag range and a high resolution 12-inch panel (1,366 x 768). And if we’d all be speaking Chinese well, the 250GB hard drive that Asus has stuffed inside, sitting along with 2GB of RAM, Intel Atom N270 processor, 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11n WiFi connectivity, probably wouldn’t make us surprised – well, maybe this N270 CPU, which seems to be too slow for such an input. Stay tuned, it should be hitting Western shores, packed with a Windows 7 OS, in a month or so.

Update1: Look, the guys from Eee PC Italia just got their hands on Asus 1201N and 1201HA full specs list and shared them online. Basically, both netbook machines will presumably pack a 12-inch 1366 x 768 displays, while the 1201N, which suppose to be the strongest among the two, will include a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N330 dual core processor, 3GB RAM, NVIDIA ION (GeForce 9400M) graphics chipset and 320GB hard drive, as its entry level sibling, the 1201HA suppose to have a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 CPU, along with Intel US15W / GMA 500 graphics, 2GB RAM and 250GB hard drive. Update2: Apparently, Asus Eee PC 1201N is scheduled to be released in Europe somewhere towards the end of the year (AKA: December), with this Atom Dual Core 330 CPU, Nvidia ION graphics chipset and a 12.1 1,366 x 768 display  – all compiled with a Windows 7 OS. Prices are yet to be determined.

Update3: Looks like the 1201N is up in Italy earlier than expected, offered on sale for 500 Euros – huzzah!

Update4: Now it’s official, as Asus has finally released its ION-based Eee PC 1201N machine, with all those nifty specs and cool features we’ve managed to see earlier, which include that 12.1-inch 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display, together with a 1.6GHz dual-core Atom 330 processor, either 2 or 3GB of RAM and storage capacity at 250 or 320GB HDD at your choice. Furthermore, you get a six-cell battery and Windows 7 Premium edition, already loaded aboard and running on your shelves somewhere around December for only $499. Update5: It seems the Eee PC 1201HA’s debut has finally arrived to the US, as Asus’ second 12.1-inch netbook, which sports a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520, together with 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, WiFi, and 6 hours battery, is up on sale on Best Buy, this time for the lower price of $329.99 but with an XP flavor pre-loaded inside. Seven fanboys should be skipping to the 1201N versionto catch up with Redmond’s latest version.

Update6: And, looks like Amazon has the Asus Eee PC 120N listed for pre-order, starting at $499 which will buy you a 12.1-inch display with Intel’s 1.6GHz N330 dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM (up to 8GB), 250GB HDD, WiFi, Bluetooth and last but not least, Microsoft’s Windows 7 Premium edition, already loaded into it. For the UK readers out there, this same version, only with an ION-based chipset will show up on your local Amazon somewhere around January 2010, priced at £399 (about $660). Stay tuned.

Creative Zii Egg Prototype Spotted In The Wild, Excitement Was Noticed Around

Turns out a staff member named DaHarder, at DAP Review website, was lucky enough to get his hands on one of the few Creative Zii EGG multimedia prototypes available in the market, and kindly shared his recent experience on two short preview videos, that can be found after the break. From his impressions, one can learn the Zii EGG machine (that Creative was just beginning to ship), boasts a 3.5-inch screen display which “compares very favorably” to Sony’s S series OLED, with “shockingly” bright and vibrant colors, while sound quality is described as “the best sounding Creative player” ever heard “and that’s without any EQ/Z-F”. Pretty exciting, isn’t it? Hit the jump to take a look.

Update1: And, in case you were looking for one more evidence that will make you believe Creative’s new prototype machine is rockin’, the good guys at AnythingButiPod have managed to put their hands, as well, on one of those Zii EGG developer editions available at the market, and posted their impressions on a clear and bright video that can be watched after the break, still with Plazma OS only rather than Android.

Update2: It’s not out yet, but Creative has just released a firmware update for the Zii EGG machine, version 92.02, which apparently adds media playback support for SD cards, along with some other cool features, including a neat 3D “clothesline”  add-on for landscape view, and a one of a kind stretching feature for browsing lists, that may influence the way we flip long screens. Zune HD Coming Out On September 15th, Already Available For Pre-Order

With so many rumors and speculations floating around, it’s time to organize the latest details we know about the coming release of the Zune HD. Apparently, according to a Gizmodo tipster, the official debut is now scheduled to September 15th (one week past September 8th). In addition, both Zune HD 16GB and 32GB models are already available for a pre-order in Amazon and Newegg, priced at $219.99 and $289.99, respectively (requires a $25 deposit).  From what we know, the player itself will be equipped with a tiny impressive on-screen keyboard that brings up a nice small arch graphic whenever you tap a letter, to distinguish it from its neighbors (See image after the break). Other than that, the internet browser is claimed to be an Opera one, but we can’t be 100% sure, yet. RAmos Tosses Out The T11 RK 720P Media Player To Asian Markets

If you can’t hold your breath and patiently wait for Microsoft’s Zune HD to make a debut on September 8th, Chinese company, RAmos has a new device, the T11 RK, that will let you play your 720P HD library in a snap, thanks to the Rockchip RK2806 processor, built inside, together with a 5-inch, 800 x 480 display, 720p TV out, 8GB of internal memory (we’d expect a lot more), and the usual FM radio tuner to set you up on the go. Other than that you should expect a wide range of HD files support, like  H.264 HD, DivX, XviD, MPG, and FLV, as you come to pay 699 Yuan (about $100) on your coming Asian trip.

Creative's Android-based Zii EGG Handheld Officially Introduced

We’re not so sure what Creative is trying to do, and what is the final product we’re about to see in the following months, but one thing for sure, the latest Zii EGG handheld, the company has just introduced as an Android-based device, powered with the new “Plaszma” platform that was created for developers and OEMs, is really rocking our geeky brains with tons of high class features and updated specs that include a 3.5-inch 320×480 multi-touch display (Capacitive 10-point multi-gesture touch display), along with up to 32GB of internal flash memory, paired with SDHC slot (supports up to 32GB of external SDHC Card), 256MB Mobile DDR RAM (similar to the iPhone 3GS), dual cameras for video conferencing, as the front camera supports HD quality, 3-axis accelerometer, a built-in speaker, a mic, and of course, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity are also included in Creative’s “StemCell Computing” project, to let you connect with outbound entities. Other than that, this amazing machine (which you have to admit, looks exactly like an iPhone), packs X-Fi audio processing and supports OpenGL ES and HD playback with 1080p video output (via HD cable). Creative says the platform itself is “market-ready” for OEM manufacturers and can be bundled with different outfits for retail price of $400, but until we figure out whether it will be released as an mp3 player, mobile phone or other alternatives, checkout the video demo after the break.

Update1: With so much potential, stuffed into a one small device, it’s just a matter of time until we’re going to see more neat features, demonstrating the Zii EGG phenomenal specs to the world, and as for a start, hit the jump to checkout the other video, introducing the Zii, running a racing game demo, using both its accelerometer and OpenGL ES capabilities.

NEC VersaPro VS-7 netbook Gets a Closer Look In Japan

NEC’s super slim Atom Z540 (1.84GHz) VersaPro VS-7  netbook has already made its Japanese debut somewhere in May, but only now gets a closer look, as Akihabara News has taken it for a first ride, coming back full of superlatives about “flawless” HD video the machine can deliver and “freaking light” design the device weights (725g). Other than that, it boasts 64GB of SSD, a 10.6-inch 1208 x 768 screen display, 1GB of RAM to smoothly handle everything that runs,  three USB slots, Ethernet port and of course, a whopping  price of ¥176,000 ($1,850), which pretty well suits price tags from the “Land of the Rising Sun”. Zune HD Officially Announced, Going Live This Fall

After so many rumors and speculations floating around, Microsoft has finally announced the Zune HD, which suppose to make its first appearance somewhere this fall, competing head-to-head with Apple’s popular iPod Touch player. Regretfully, there’s nothing much to share in terms of specs or features, but from the very few fragments we’ve managed to collect, you briefly can figure out it’ll probably pack a 3.3-inch 480 x 272 OLED capacitive touchscreen, together with a built-in HD Radio receiver, 720P HD output (via dock station), integrated WiFi connection and accelerometer sensors for landscape usability. Additionally, you might find a designated Explorer browser for internet surfing purposes and hopefully, a mashup interface with Xbox / Xbox Live gaming consoles. Still, no pricing or capacity details to write about, although one should expect either 16GB or 32GB flavors inside, but this way or another those rumored images earlier published, make no place for mistakes – Zune HD is live and kicking. Update1: The guys at Gizmodo have managed to put their hands on the freakishly new Zune HD while hanging around D7’s conference hall. Update2: Zune Insider has officially confirmed that Zune HD will be running NVIDIA’s Tegra chipset inside, which means – full high-def video compatibility in the palm of your hand. Still no word about final release dates, but we’re following.

Too expensive at this point, but things will change on Western shores.

Cube's H200D PMP Brings HDMI Compatibility To Chinese Users

Cube is not a stranger for us, as we’ve already posted about its recent HD-compatible PMPs lineup, not long ago. But having one or two media players is probably not enough for some companies, which explains why Cube has launched another media device, that answers the name H200D and boasts an HDMI output, together with basic formats support and a whole bunch of flavors to choose from. MSI To Introduce New PMPs Lineup In China

We’ve recently seen a lot of action coming from MSI’s direction, specially within the netbooks world. However, the company proves to have myriad of values to share with, as a new PMP series has been announced in China, featuring five different platforms to choose from. Starting from the basic, the MV622, which will cost you only 198 yuan (US $29), features a 2.4-inch display, 2GB of internal storage and three flavors to be picked. the second one is the MV651, which boasts a 3-inch 400 x 240 screen, together with FM tuner, 4GB of storage and a TV-output, all priced at 299 yuan ($44). The third, MV652, offers either 4GB ($51) or 8GB ($58) capacities, while seems to be the only kid in the block which has an integrated touchscreen inside, as the fourth version, MV881 sports a 4.3-inch display (without a touchscreen) along with the same traits you get inside the previous device, for $58 (4GB) or $73 (8GB). Last but not least, is the MV882 that comes with an S-video output and 720P video support for high-def interaction, priced at merely $58 (8GB). Naturally, you get to play most of the common formats (available in the market) in all units and some can also handle your e-book files, still we can’t be sure those new cheap PMPs will ever find a place on Western shelves.

Cube's H100HD Brings 1080i Video Quality To Your PMP

It started getting trendy nowadays, with multimedia companies showing off their top-notch HD devices, covered with lavish designs which contains impeccable capabilities inside. However, while most units support up to 720P, Cube has taken few steps forward by integrating 1080i video output and turned its latest H100HD PMP into one of the most advanced machines in the market, that plays myriad of formats in one small place. Sure, the new player can easily handle 720p as well, but the big thing is the 1920 X 1080 screen resolution this bad boy can handle. HD video aside, the new H100HD player packs an FM tuner, e-Book reader and a nice trait that lets you play flash games on the road. We’re not so sure if any of you, western users, will ever have a chance buying this phenomena across the street, but we do promise to update the price and availability, once released.

RAmos Terminator T12 HD PMP Introduced

No, Arnold Schwarzenegger is not involved in this new T12 PMP from RAmos, still, it carries the “Terminator” title, along with a 5-inch 800 x 480 display and a strong Rockchip RK2806 processor, which can easily upscale any Avi/RMVB files to 1280×720 resolution at a full 30fps, or just play H.264 videos, placed inside the 8GB, 16GB or 32GB capacities the player has to offer. Additionally, the 12mm device, that somehow reminds us the Archos 5 media tablet, comes with a small knob wheel (on the right side), so you can handle the menus upside down as fast as a rocket while playing your favorite Depech Mode album on the go – And yes, both  T12 and Depech Mode are expected to go out on live tour (separately) somewhere in May – We do hold a DM ticket but still don’t have any clue about the Terminator’s pricing.

Microsoft Preps a New Zune HD For The Summer (Update:Probably September)

According to a tipster, Microsoft will presumably release a new Zune player with HD capabilities, somewhere this year. Naturally, we have no other details, nor any specs of the new device itself, but if this info is correct, and it sure looks reliable, the Zune 4th Generation should be available with a wide and sharp touchscreen, supporting high-def video and some other features, which you can find in the iPod Touch players. Stay tuned for more to come.

Update1: More uncertain specs show up across the cyber world, revealing a 16:9 AMOLED display with multi-touch usability (capacitive), joining the mini-HDMI output and the HD Radio feature, both bundled inside, along with a full HTML browser, to wirelessly surf the web. And while we have no special ability to determine “details accuracy”, you should take our word when we say it’ll be offered either in 16GB or 32GB capacities. However, In case you look for even more speculative rumors, Zune fanboys will also tell you the new HD device might support 3D XBox games, thanks to the integrated NVidia chipset, which we really hope to see included. Other than that, a worldwide release is said to take place somewhere around September, so stay tuned for real things to come.

Update2: May 12th 2009 – According to ZDNet, the next Zune / Windows Mobile device (AKA: Chassis 1) will feature a whole bunch of top-notch specs, including a 3.5-inch multi-touch display along with ARM v6+ processor, 1GB of RAM, OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics hardware, 3 megapixel camera, GPS navigation system, WiFi / Bluetooth connections, built in accelerometer and even Nvidia’s Tegra platform, integrated with TI’s OMAP 3  and “Qualcomm 8k” chipsets, to handle those strong requirements. Of course, these are just rumors, and we can’t take them that serious, although we do hold an opinion that Chassis 1 will be strong enough to match market demands.

Onda To Release The VX555HD, Another PMP In The High-Def Dynasty

It looks like Chinese corporation Onda is trying to flood the market with HD players, supporting 720P video quality. Otherwise, it would be hard to explain why on earth the company has just released the VX555HD, only 3 months after the VX535HD has made its first appearance in public. HD compatibility aside, the new PMP packs a 3-inch display, an FM tuner, TV output and wide range of codecs support. Archos 5/7 Media Tablets Get HD Video Plugin With The New Firmware Update

Those who own Archos 5/7 devices should be pleased knowing the French company has finally uploaded a new firmware update (v1.6.03) that adds the long awaited high-def video support, which includes MPEG-4 ASP and WMV / VC-1 playback compatibility at 720p (24fps, 6Mbps maximum). Besides that, the new firmware also fixes some pesty bugs within the GUI, MP3 tags and few other TV recording slips. Update: Only two weeks after releasing firmware v1.6.03, which added high-def video compatibility to the Archos 5, the French corp launches another update (v1.6.53) that brings GPS car holder support, so you can use your media tablet device as a navigation system via Archos’ cradle, and find your way in Europe, North America or Russia through TeleAtlas maps, which are included as well. Further more, with the new firmware update you’ll be able to navigate your way from the inside, thanks to the new file browser, coming with drag n’ drop and multi-selection capabilities. RAmos T10 PMP Comes With a 4.3" Touchscreen And 1080i HD Support

In a reasonable course of production, one should realize there will be a Ramos T10 PMP, specially after a miracle sequence of the T8 and the T9 players, already available out there. And while speaking, the Ramos T10 isn’t a stranger anymore, so you’ll be able to find it in some Asian corners, featuring a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, powerful DaVinci chipset and wide range of formats support, including 1080i HD files that will broadcast quality videos on your LCD TV. And if we’re in thet tele business, there is a nice remote control inside the pack, so no need to jump over whenever you want to switch a movie. Price wise, the 8GB version is offered for only $117 – not bad for an HD device.

Gemei Introduces The HD-660 To The Chinese Market

Those who live in the Asian part of the world might be interested to learn that Chinese company Gemei has a new PMP to introduce, coming up somewhere this year with a 4.3-inch 480 x 272 display, 32GB of internal storage and 720P HD quality support. This mid-range player is compatible with most common formats like MP3, WMA, FLAC audio files, RM, RMVB, AVI, FLV, MPEG video files and JPG, BMP, or PNG image files, but for a non-disclosure price you also get bundled a TV output cable and a remote control, to let you watch your high-def videos from the couch. Again, no specific release date to share at this point, although it shouldn’t be long until Nicolas Cage and the HD-660 will show up on the shelves.

Teclast’s New M50HD PMP Packs a Strong Zinc-Magnesium Body And HD Capabilities

If you’re in a search for a strong PMP device that will serve you in the field, Teclast might have the right solution for you, as the company has just introduced the M50HD player, which comes with a body, made of military-industrial zinc-magnesium alloy that can stand literally any weather conditions. In addition, it has a solid 4.3 inch 800 × 480 display with a “super tempered” Polysilicon glass panel. Other than that, the new M50HD boasts a TV output, up-to-date formats support like FLAC, RM, Xvid or Divx, and even 720P high definition videos, in case you’re into quality technology. Still no word on price or availability, but we like the idea of robust players with HD capabilities hanging in our sack.

Compal's New APA00/APA01 Media Players Support 1080i HD Video

Compal officially announces a new PMP series, including the APA00 (black) and APA01(white), which both feature a 7-inch 800 x 480 LCD touchscreen together with an ARM Sigma Design EM8622L SoC, DVB-T digital TV, FM Tuner, 802.11g WiFi, an SD/MMC slot and up to 80GB HDD storage. The two players house uCLinux system and can easily handle MPEG, Xvid, WMV9, H.264 files additional to the HD support up to 1080i. You also get USB 2.0 connection and component / composite TV outputs, to hook your multimedia junk and watch it from the couch. Still no word on price or availability, but looks like PMPs with HD content support quickly become  part of our 2009 tech life.

New Onda VX535HD Will Support High-Def Video Content

Onda makes a major step towards high-definition integration, as the Chinese company has unveiled their latest VX535HD PMP, which includes the new CC1600 ‘HD’ chip that allows playing quality 720P videos on the efficient 4.3-inch 800×480 display. Unfortunately, the media player is lack of wireless connectivity, but instead you get everything you need to handle your multimedia stuff. iTunes 8 Goes Live With HD Shows, Genius Playlists And The Great Magnetosphere Visualizer

iTunes 8 officially goes live at Apple’s “Let Us Rock” event, introducing HD shows from ABC, NBC and Showtime, to run for $2.99 per episode (the rest priced at $1.99). In addition, the 8 version comes with the new “Genius” sidebar feature, which lets you automatically create playlists from songs in your music library that go great together. Meaning, iTunes has a smart music reccomendation tool that helps users to rediscover favorite songs in their existing music library and suggests related music on the iTunes Store they might want to add to their music collection (sort of Pandora like). Furthermore, you can visualy browse your iTunes’ music / video libraries, using your album or video cover art and enjoy some new stunning Magnetosphere visualizations, once you turn your favorite music on. Tunes 8 is now available for download via Apple’s website.

MeLE Introduces a New PMP Lineup: PMC-200 And PMC-600

Chinese corporation MeLE has announced the release of two new PMPs, on China Sourcing Fairs at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. The first one is the PMC-200, which MeLE defines as a “low cost” PMP, coming with a 3.5-inch TFT LCD screen (320 x 240), huge storage capacity, ranged from 80GB to 160GB, a PVR function to record high quality video from your TV or any other source, with resolution up to 720×480 @30fps or 720×576 @25fps. Measures are 142.5x81x20 – 290g.

The second one is the PMC-600, which MeLE defines as a “Luxury” PMP, coming with a wide 4.3-inch LCD screen (480 x 272), huge 160GB storage capacity, SD/MMC/MS card reader, HD output (scale up tp 720P/1080i) and USB 2.0 interface. It is compatible with MPEG 1/2/4, XVID (720×480 @30fps), AVI, MPG file formats and sized at 153 x 79 x 23 – 360g. No word on price or availability for both players.
