Acer To Release The Iconia Tab A110 Stateside On October 30

Acer has officially announced it will release its latest 7-inch Iconia Tab A110 tablet in the US at the end of October. Powered by Android Jelly Bean OS, the A110 is expected to hit the already-crowded “mini-tablet” market, priced at $230 for the 8GB version – which isn’t as cheap as the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire – and equipped with Nvidia’s powerful Tegra 3 Quad Core CPU under the lid, along with a microSD slot expansion, 1GB of RAM, a camera, Bluetooth 3.0 and micro-HDMI to connect the slate to your flat HD TV. The 7-inch tablet episode is gonna be the best show of this autumn. From one side, Google is already rockin’ with the Nexus 7 slate, while on the other hand, Apple is rumored to launch a mini iPad, this coming fall (and lets not forget the Dell Streak 7 and the Kindle Fire). Between the two hill company giants, there’s a middle course with plenty of players hanging around. One of them is Acer, a Taiwanese brand that has been known in the slabs market for quite some time. The latest rumored addition from the Asian corp is the Iconia Tab A110, another 7-inch device that was initially supposed to be released with an Ice Cream Sandwich platform pre-loaded on board. Instead, we’re hearing from online shop Ebuyer, that it will soon go live equipped with Google’s recent Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box. In addition, it will boast a powerful Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad Core processor inside, paired with 1 GB of RAM, “only” 1024 × 600 screen resolution, eithr 8 or 16GB of flash memory to choose from, and an HDMI output alongside a microSD card slot. Price is going to be very competitive (if this turns to be true), at £179.99 or just above 200 bucks.

Samsung’s 10.1-Inch Galaxy Note To Go Live in August

Oh! What do we have in here? No, this isn’t the Microsoft Courier, in case you were wondering. As a matter of fact, we didn’t really expect it to be released, at all. But because the overall look closely resembles the Redmond version, we thought it was definitely worth a mention. So what the heck is it? Well, It’s Korean, has a 1.4 GHz Exynos quad-core processor, a very handy stylus pen, and it’s called… (drums) the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1; which, as the name might indicate, features a 10.1-inch display on top. Other than that, we’re looking at a 3G-enabled tablet, packing a 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi connectivity, 2GB of RAM, Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) for the OS, and LTE wireless network support. It also has a rear 5MP shooter, and a 1.9MP front-facing camera, Bluetooth 4.0, a USB 2.0 hub and either 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of storage, at your choice. But what makes the new Galaxy Note device so special is the S Pen and the “multiscreen” feature which make everything run so nice and smoothly, thanks to the use of  Wacom’s built-in digitizer technology that comes to hand, out of the box. At this point, while we’re still waiting on official pricing, Samsung is planning to hold a US launch event that will take place on August 15th. True Multi-Tasking with Multiscreen feature

S Pen & S Note for Personalised and Organised Note-taking

Featuring its advanced 6.5mm S Pen, the Galaxy Note 10.1 is optimised for the creation of personalised and expressive content in the most natural and intuitive way. The S Pen’s feel and functionality are specifically designed for an optimal experience on the 10.1-inch screen. The S Pen is embedded directly in the device and, when removed, automatically launches specially optimised applications, including S Note, S Planner, Crayon physics, Adobe® Photoshop® Touch, and Polaris Office.

Alternatively, people can easily set their preferred application to be launched instantly. For example, S Note can be launched instantly when the S Pen is taken out from the device. Owners can also tap the screen twice while pressing the S Pen button for quick S Note access via the S Note-dedicated widget, which can be easily moved anywhere on the display, never hindering or obstructing creativity or productivity.

The S Note is a unique tool that enables notes and sketches to be combined with other digital content in ready-to-use templates. Archos 7c Android Tablet Gets a Video Intro (Update: Now Shipping)

Oh! What’s this? Looks like Archos is about to roll out yet another 7-inch Android device. At least that’s what the guys over at ARMdevices are saying, after taking a tour of the company’s Chinese compound and tackling with the forthcoming multi-touchscreen 7c tablet for a few hours. And while the 7-inch Active matrix Capacitive display that Archos has added on top of the slate is pure joy, the screen resolution (800 x 480), on the other hand,  isn’t exactly the type we were looking for. Other than that, there’s a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor under the hood, paired with a RK2918 chipset, a built-in Speaker, microSD card slot, WiFi, one USB hub, a recharchable battery pack and Android 2.3 (Gingerbreard) running on board. Prices are said to be at affordable range – under $200 – while the official release date (in Europe and the US) will be somewhere in June, we guess. Update: And looks like the Archos 7c Home Tablet is now ready for shipping across the US, packing that 7-inch capacitive display, alongside a Cortex A8 processor, 8GB of flash storage, built-in speakers, wireless N connectivity, a microSD card slot and Android 2.1 (Eclair) platform – with a possible upgrade path for Honecomb – running on board. There’s also a direct access to Google’s Android Market, which is definitely a positive thing, and all in all the complete package will run you for $220 and not a single penny more.

LG Optimus Pad Becomes Official

Looks like it didn’t take LG that long to make its newly born 8.9-inch Android 3.0 tablet, AKA: Optimus Pad (or T-Mobile’s G-Slate) official – and it all happened today, at the MWC 2011 event in Barcelona, Spain. The Optimus Pad, which boasts a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor along with a 1280 x 768 screen resolution and a special 3D camera array on the back, is LG’s first real foray into the tablet market place and frankly, dear fellows, it’s doing quite a nice job, isn’t it? Availability wise, the South Korean giant says that the Honeycomb-powered slate will go live worldwide somewhere around March, while prices are yet to be determined.

Dell Streak 7 Has a Secret Phone Feature

Is Dell hiding secrets from us? Well, one can pretty much assume that if the 5-inch Streak comes with integrated 3G phone capabilities, its bigger sibling, the Streak 7, most definitely has them too – but regretfully it doesn’t. Not exactly. According to the good guys at Streak Smart, Dell’s new 7-inch Android Froyo tablet does seem to have this hidden phone application transplanted under the lid, only that no one has been willing to share it with us, at least until now. True, it doesn’t really work the other direction. In other words, there’s not much to do with it right now, and calls just won’t go through or get connected. Still, it’s really something to hope for, right? Well, can’t wait till it finally happens (and be sure it would). Until then, make sure you hit the jump and watch the video.

Google’s Android Honeycomb OS and Android Market Website Officially Announced

Looking back on early January 2011, we catch a glimpse of an awesome experience of the Android 3.0 video teasers. Looking forward to what’s ahead of this year let us capture a vision of the great Honeycomb OS which will inevitably make Android the dominant Smartphone and Tablet platform of the future. The rapid ascent of Android has prompted Google to go ahead and announce the official release of its latest creation, made by Palm’s former UI designer, Matias Duarte, and best known as the Android Honeycomb – Google’s answer to many of tablet -based OS out there. And while there wasn’t much news about it, it is still worth watching – especially for those that widgets, finger gestures, or 3D rendering matters spark their interest. The one thing however, that caught most people’s eyes was Google’s Android Market which has finally turned official, as a web client, and gone live couple of hours ago with a very neat and simple Market catalog to browse (more than 50,000 apps inside) with both free and paid Android applications preloaded on board. AOC Breeze Tablet Boasts 8-inch Display and Android 2.1 Platform

The more we’re getting closer to CES 2011, the more we’re going to hear about new products that join the world’s biggest tech celebration. AOC’s 8-inch Breeze is just the latest in that series. The new tablet, which was recently unveiled by one of the largest LED / LCD monitor manufacturers, runs an obsolete Android 2.1 platform within, along with an 800 x 600 screen resolution, and a slew of physical keys, up right, on top of the screen bezel. In addition, there’s a Rockchip chipset inside, paired with 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a battery pack that is claimed to deliver up to 12 hours of audio or 6 hours of video, WiFi connectivity, an internal speaker, and a single USB 2.0 port. Onkyo To Launch a Pair of 10.1-inch Android Tablets with NVIDIA’s Tegra 250 Inside

There is definitely a lot of momentum behind Android tablets these days, and Onkyo is one company seeking to take advantage of the burgeoning blitz. From what we know, their latest revelation, TA117 series, which has no price tag or availability details to share at this point, comprises of two models, namely TA117C3 and TA117C1, that will pack a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 display, NVIDIA’s Tegra 250 chip, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI output, two USB 2.0 ports, and microSD card slot. And while the C1 is claimed to pack 512MB of RAM along with 8GB of storage, its sibling, the C3 flavor, features 1GB of memory, paired with 16GB of NAND, on board. Android Froyo is the dominant OS platform in both versions, but word on the street is that we’re likely to see a Windows 7 support. Stay tuned for even more.

Dell Now Selling Unlocked Streak Devices In the US With Android Froyo On Board

It’s been susptected and rumored, but now it’s offical. As of today, Dell is finally offering through its US online store a number of unlocked Streak devices, preloaded with Android 2.2 OS and different types of hard drive storage forms. There’s a 16GB Carbon Black version, now being offered unlocked for $579.99, or the same device only with 32GB of internal memory that will run you in exchange for $678.99 – and not a single extra dime. We’re still unsure exactly whether the cards themselves are locked to AT&T SIM only, or perhaps come fully compatibile with most other 3G networks. One way or another, it sure feels good having Google’s latest Android Froyo tossed inside, and for this matter, there are many different reasons that will backup this assertion: Whether it’s the pinch-to-zoom attraction, the 3G hotspot creation, a USB tethering usability or Adobe’s Flash playback support. And it’s all happening on a 5 -inch pocketable device, remember?

Velocity Micro’s Android Cruz Tablet Is Finally Ready For a Shipping

Just as promised, the 7-inch Velocity Cruz is finally out and ready for the masses. And while you shouldn’t expect too much, performance wise, from a $299 slate, still it will cost you a whole lot cheaper getting it, rather than any other similar device – and from our perspective, it could easily be a good value over price. After all, don’t forget that you’re getting a very responsive capacitive display in here, instead of those sluggish and not so friendly resistive touchscreen ones. Regretfully, you’ll have to settle with an Android 2.0 version, with no direct access to Google’s Android Market inside (there’s a Cruz Market which seems pretty limited compared to well established online hubs). Yet, the slate itself does offer 512MB of RAM, 12GB of storage, WiFi, stereo speakers, 10 hours of battery and a mini-USB port, to take on a ride. Sylvania To Roll Out a 7-inch Android Tablet For $180

Looking for a low-rate Android tablet bargain? Make sure to check out Sylvania’s 7-inch Android 2.1 device, now being offered on Kmart for a mere $179.99. Pretty reasonable price for something that boasts a 7-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen (probably resistive), along with 512MB of RAM, 2GB of Flash memory, WiFi, front-facing webcam and a bunch of desirable ports (such as mini-USB, microSD slot and HDMI out), isn’t it? Not to mention the six-hour battery that is also included inside the package. But that probably won’t change anything for you, knowing that you won’t get any access to Google’s Android Market, eh? Well, we’re just assuming in here, so there’s still a glimpse of hope.

What do you think the new trend in media players? For those of you who answered “Android OS“…you were right. First it was Archos who wisely added Google’s burgeoning platform into its latest PMP series, and now it’s Creative’s turn to do exactly the same. The new model on stake is the Android 2.1-based Zen Touch 2 player which packs a 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen on top along with WiFi, Bluetooth, an accelerometer module and inbuilt speaker under the lid. Philips’ GoGear Connect PMP Goes Live In Europe With Android 2.1 Platform Already Preloaded Onboard

Android media player – that apparently looks like the latest greatest trend among audio-video gadgets across the pond, and the new joiner within that sphere is Philips and its most awesome GoGear Connect PMP. The slick silver device which you can find listed in online retailer store Argos, priced at €264.99 (about $340), boasts a 3.2-inch 480 x 320 display, running Android 2.1 platform and tucked with 16GB of flash storage, an integrated GPS navigation system, an FM tuner, a microSD, a 3.5mm headphone jack and battery pack delivering up to 25 hours of audio playback and 5 hours of continuous video work. It should already be available throughout the European continent while US release is yet to be determined.

Update: Philips just went official with its brand new 3.2-inch GoGear Connect PMP which apparently supports a very wide range of audio and video formats, including mp3, wma, .m4a (AAC), ogg, and flac audio; wmv, mp4, H264, and avi video; or JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF images. It is also said to have a built in camera inside, paired with microSD slot, android 2.1 for the OS and an integrated GPS platform to navigate your way on the go. Worldwide release (including the US) is scheduled for October of this year, with prices at €249 (about $315) for the 16GB flavor.

Olive Pad VT100 Android Tablet Breaks Cover In India (Update: With Video)

India is about to join the world on that super-cool Android tablets trend, with local company, Olive Telecom announcing its first 3.5G Android 2.1 tablet, also known as the Olive Pad VT100, and claimed to go live in India somewhere next month, for prices range between Rs.20000 to Rs.25000, or about $425 to $530 in US Dollars. And while we can’t be certain about a US release, Indian geeks will most likely enjoy holding it with both hands and surf the net on that nice looking 7-inch (800 x 480) capacitive touchscreen. Other than that, this neat and not-too-shabby gadget is said to include 512MB of internal memory, paired with a 3MP rear camera, an SD card slot, mini USB hub, a 3,240mAh battery, Bluetooth, WiFi, an integrated compass and last but not least, a G-sensor support. So yes, it’s a fascinating slate-smartphone hybrid device. From one side, not too small to hold it close to your ear and talk, but from the other, big enough to consume internet content and multimedia videos on the go. PR after the break.

Update: It looks like Indian television show TechGuru has managed to get one of Olive Telecom’s $500 7-inch capacitive touchscreen device and put together a decent comparison with Apple’s 9.7-inch magical iPad wonder. With a 600MHz ARM processor, tucked with 512MB of internal memory, a 3mp built-in camera, microSD slot, Google Android for the OS and optional 3G WWAN connection placed in the back of the box, the Indian slate scores 4 points while Steve Jobs’ slick baby boy gets 6 out of the entire toll. Aigo’s 7-inch N700 Tablet Announced, Boasts Android 2.1 and Tegra 2 Chipset Inside

Another day another tablet. This time it’s the newly born Aigo N700 (also branded as Compal NAZ-10), a 7-inch 800 x 480 multitouch machine, powered by Google’s Android 2.1 platform running with a powerful 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor inside and priced attractively, at $300 only. This handsome piece of craft plays 1080p videos stater-free thanks to Nvidia’s Tegra 2 graphics chipset planted within its bowels, along an HDMI output to pump vids out or the 4/16/32GB capacities you can choose from, to store things onboard. Other than that, it packs a microSD slot expansion, a USB port, WiFi, optional 3G WWAN connection and what appears to be a nice tiny webcam, built to the the left, on front. No idea whether it would go outside the Chinese boundaries, but it sure looks like a great device that can definitely rock.

Compaq Airlife 100 With 10.1-Inch Touchscreen and Android OS Platform Introduced

We’ve already seen a glimpse of Compaq’s latest and greatest Airlife 100 netbook machine, last month at Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show, but now it finally seems to get official with all the pride and glory involved. Within, you’ll find a nice 10.1-inch touchscreen display, which stunningly works in collaboration with the Android OS, preloaded inside the box. And to make things even better, under this tiny smartbook  lid you’ll find a strong Snapdragon chip, paired with Intel’s latest Atom processor, 16GB SSD, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G connection mode – offered in partnership with Telefonica for an undetermined price as a subsidized mobile broadband deal, in Europe, Latin America and hopefully some other places across the world. Stay tuned.

Update1: Battery wise, this bad boy will boast a powerful package, which suppose to provide 12-hour of continuous work or up to 10 days in standby.

Update3: Not much happened since we first met HP’s Android-powered Airlife 100 netbook, back at the MWC conference in Barcelona. That said, it seems the 10-incher netbook has now turned official on HP’s website, packed with a non-capacitive touchscreen, which hides underneath a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor along WiFi, 3G connectivity, 512MB of RAM, and 16GB of flash. We’re still waiting for price and availability details to finally show up.

Update4: Looks like the Android-powered Compaq Airlife 100 will be exclusively available through Telefonica Movistar this coming May with base price of 229 euros for the mini laptop itself, and another 48 euros for a monthly internet package. Expensive?

Asus ‘Killer Product’ Eee Pad Is Rumored To Go Out In June

It’s not that we were thinking Asus would give up creating a tablet of its own, thus when the company’s CEO, Jonney Shih, speaks about a “killer product” due to go out in June, this is where our wild imagination begins to work extra hours and starts wondering about possible outcomes. Although it’s claimed to be yet “another Apple” (the iPad is scheduled to debut next month), it is said to support open source code and to include ARM hardware and Google software within. Pegatron, a separate division of Asus apparently received the manufacturing responsibility for this enigmatic tablet (Eee Pad?), and if we’d try to be just a little speculative here, it would probably boast Nvidia’s Tegra 2 for the graphics and run Android for the OS, under $500 price tag. Stay tuned.

Update: More Eee Pad rumors coming out, ahead of release, this time from Asus’s chairman Jonney Shih who has officially confirmed a duo set of Taiwanese tablets, coming out somewhere this year, one with a Windows OS on top and the other running Google’s android/Chrome platform. No further info at this point, but stick around for more details to come.

Meizu Android-Powered ‘M-One’ Tablet Teams Up With avatar, Aims To Destroy The iPad

At this point there are more images than details, and frankly we have no Idea whether they’re real or not – although we have our doubts, if you’re asking, especially when it comes to the Avatar image below, I mean seriously do you guys want to mess up with Hollywood IP lawyers or what? On the other hand, if they were real then Meizu might have gone official with it, no? Anyway, until we prove different, you all should know it’s called M-one (at least that’s what they say), looks like a slim tablet device and claims to have everything that Apple iPad lacks, including a built-in camera, multi-tasking platform, Android operating system and whitish charming design. Regretfully, there’s no word about price or availability at the moment, but that as a fact doesn’t seem to bother Mr. james cameron himself, eh? Hit the link for more images.

Update: It’s fake. Meizu CEO J.Wong said he won’t be launching an iPad killer soon. He also said:

“Stop the photoshop work, I have no interest to create a big MP4! Isn’t the shame enough?”

For some reason, we have that strange feeling it would be hard convincing you to read new stuff about yet another tablet machine which suppose to come out “somewhere next month”. That said, we did find that whenever a magic word such as Android is being included in the draft, we tend to get high rates of inbound traffic, rather than sparse. In a hope that our beloved readers will always have enough, we’d like to introduce you one more tablet device that should be added to your holidays wish list raff. And looking into details, the new culprit carries the ICD brand and tagged as Ultra, but also features an ambient light sensor and a snappy android-based system – in fact, it’s an Android 2.0 prototype which performs impressively, considering its early stage, and responsible for that is the top-notch lineup that was stuffed under the 7-inch resistive touchscreen cage, amongst you can find a 1GHz Tegra T20 CPU, paired with an HDMI output, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage capacity, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 and 1.3MP camera on front of the hub, however for merely $249, you should expect receiving USB 2.0, microSD slot and even a built-in accelerometer for landscape image grab. Stay tuned.

Update: Looks like ICD’s Android tablet Vega (this is the name) just turned official and soon be offered by T-Mobile UK as what appears to be a kitchen tablet, sporting a 15-inch display which can easily handle your 1080p video stack . Not to mention that Android platform, running in the back and the batch of apps like media player, web browser, IM and contacts, included in the pack. PR message after the jump.

Camangi WebStation Android Tablet Sets To Go Live In The Coming Months

Tablets, Androids, portable devices, we keep hearing them a lot, everywhere we go, in/off cyber world. The latest, is from Camagni, a Taiwanese group that brings us the Webstation, an Android-based tablet device which sports a 7-inch 800 x 480 glass touchscreen, paired with a 624MHz Marvell PXA303 processor, 128MB of RAM, 256MB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (expandable up to 8GB capacity) and a nice slick whitish frame, that comfortably fits the palm of your hand. Communication wise, you’ll find the Webstation equipped up to date with 3G WWAN, 802.11b/g WiFi and even a GPS navigation system, that was tucked in order to guide your way out there. Price suppose to stand at $399 in Japan while availability dates are still a mystery – although we do know – that basic white flavor is not alone and Pink or Black hues will hit the shelves as well. Update1: Turns out you can pre-order the Webstation Android tablet right now from Camagni’s online store, equipped with that 7-inch glass touchscreen, a 624MHz Marvell PXA303 and 256MB of flash storage, for $389 in case you’re one of those “early birds” or $399 if you decide to do a thorough market research before getting now.

Update2: Looks like Camangi’s Android-based Webstation has finally landed on US shores and the guys at Gear Diary have taken it for a series of unboxing shots. Hit the break to see the results (third video).

Update3: It seems the guys at Laptop aren’t pleased with Camangi’s  performance, stating it’s sluggish and a bit limited at the moment. Design wise, they were very satisfied.

Update4: Apparently, Camagni just pushed down the Webstation price from $399 to only $275. Now, Whether it’s the fear from Apple’s iPad which suppose to come out next month or the growing toll of Android tablets available around, hard to tell – but it’s up to you to decide – we’d like to see some software and hardware improvements before trying it out.

Hikari's Android-based iFrame Tablet Will Make The Japanese Scene Somewhere Next Year

Android is the key word in here, no doubt, but the tablet issue is no less important, and as you can see, we see a lot of them lately, better with an Android OS loaded onboard (it’s good for the marketing). And Japanese company, Hikari, is no different in that scene, realizing it should implement Google’s magical platform with its new iFrame tablet, which boasts (besides that Android power) a 7-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen display (that can be used as a photo frame) along with an SD slot expansion, WiFi connection, a built in speaker and multiple widgets like weather, calendar, news and recipes on top. Price range is claimed to be at $220 and $330 when this thing comes out in 2010. Until then, you can watch the video after the break.

Creative Zii EGG Prototype Finally Gets The Android Treatment

Still in development, the Zii EGG prototype – which hopefully will go live somewhere next year – is one desirable media device we’d like to see floating around. With a 3.5-inch multi-touch display, WiFi, GPS, and 1080p HD support – it just can’t go wrong. In fact, it seems to be walking the right directions, with its mother company, Creative, choosing the Android 1.6 path, and making it look pretty promising on this new nifty portable bud. Too bad the entire UI is a bit sluggish and the integrated webcam is not exactly functional (not to mention the inaccurate signal marks at the top). Yet, it’d surely improve in the next build, we’re positive, very very positive. But ’till then, hit the jump and watch the video.

Archos Android-Based Internet Tablet Spotted In Black, Coming With 160/500GB Capacities Onboard (Update: Now Official)

So, what do we have in here? It’s Archos, hitting the online scene again, this time with a brand new Android-based Internet Tablet device, which apparently gets exactly the same looks and specs its 5-inch Archos 5 predecessor packs, only this one unsurprisingly runs a Google Android trendy OS – all over the place – while design wise, it gets darker than ever with a whole black body color, covering both the media tablet itself and its optional $130 DVR docking station. Other than that, it seems that Archos’ new kid on the block just grew up bigger, and now being offered with storage capacities starting at 160GB HDD priced at $320 or a whopping 500GB HDD for merely $420. However, in case you’re into the SSD flavor, you can choose either going with the 16GB SSD version that is listed at B&H for $294 or the 32GB SSD option that will run you back for $370. Update1: Apparently, the Android-based Archos 5 Internet Tablet just turned official and is now available with prices ranged from $259 – $430 (depends on storage configuration). Other than that, it seems the French have taken the vanilla Android OS and managed to hover it on top of Archos’ own Linux platform. Surprisingly, the combination of both systems works pretty smooth and flawless, then we may have expected. Additionally, Archos also included some neat third-party apps, like ThinkFree Mobile for document editing, Internet browser for net surfing, and some cool navigation features that suppose to take advantage of the full-fledged GPS system inside and help you find your way with local maps, voice over guidance and even 3D landmarks. And while the new Archos 5 doesn’t seems to have any mobile phone pretensions, it still packs some very advanced specs that make it such a fun and usable device for users. You get a 4.8-inch 800 x 480 resistive screen, which responds pretty well but not as fast as a multi-touch display. You can also find a 802.11n WiFi connectivity, paired with 800MHz OMAP3440 processor, storage drives which can go up to 500GB capacity, and an optional docking cradle that lets you record your favorite shows into the Archos unit or watch your 720P video files whenever connected to an  LCD TV through the HDMI port. Update2: Looks like Amazon has finally listed the Archos 5 “Internet Tablet” device on its online store, running for either $390 (160GB) or $370 (32GB)at your choice (and pocket size).

Update3: Radio Shack seems to have a cheaper version of Archos 5’s Android-based tablet – just $249.99 –  in case those $390 bills are too heavy for you to carry. Besides those 8GB of storage, that the new version packs, you get all the good things its bigger brother has, only with 1/20 of the capacity, but that for itself shouldn’t bother anyone who uses Archos’ device mainly for emails and internet.
