Lenovo Shows Off a 10.1-inch Windows 8 ThinkPad Tablet

Another day, another Windows 8 tablet demo over at Computex 2012. This time a Lenovo Thinkpad prototype, spotted around the Intel booth, running a full-fledged Win 8 software behind the lid, and said to include a 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 screen, sitting on top of a 9.7mm black sturdy body that packs two cameras (8MP rear, 2MP front), a docking connector, a volume rocker, and a micro-HDMI port. At this point in time, we are looking at one of the very early-stage devices out there, and the final product might look just a little different – And that’s probably why most specs are scarce right now. As far as CPU goes, it’s mainly some sort of an Intel Clover Trail processor, while the battery is rumored to deliver around 10 hours of continuous and reliable performance to each and every charge. And make no mistake, this is a Windows 8 slate and not an Android 4.0 device – It is a bit confusing and does take time to get used to, we know. The overall look seems to be more thought out and reserved, you get a typical Thinkpad design around the slab, with a softy scratches-free plate covering the upper hood. But as we’ve mentioned it’s still early days, so please keep a look out for more details and info.

Samsung’s 10.1-Inch Alex Chrome OS Netbook Details Leaked

Google’s Chrome OS isn’t quite ready yet, but should be here in a few months time. Meanwhile, a few juicy details about Samsung’s first official Chrome OS netbook have slipped onto the Internet and they are showing off what Sammy’s upcoming 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) netbook device, dubbed “Alex”, is going to include. First and foremost, there’s a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 processor inside, paired with a SanDisk solid-state drive with unknown capacities, 2GB of RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G connectivity and a VGA webcam, located up front. Naturally, there’s a Synaptics TouchPad down the chassis and that Google Chrome OS platform running on board. Still no word about price or availability, but we’re expecting to hear more about it at Google’s I/O developer conference, in a few weeks or so.

HP Slate 500 Officially Goes Live For $799

Surprise, surprise! The long-awaited HP Slate 500 is finally out. And while both official video (after the break) and prospects clearly indicate that HP is aiming the Slate at the enterprise and business market (like Medical services, Restaurants, etc.), in practice, anyone who’s interested in buying this 8.9-inch (1024×600) capacitive touchscreen monster, can easily log into HP’s online store and nab it for a staggering $799. No, it doesn’t have 3G connectivity included, nor replaceable battery or any special UI layer attached (onto the preloaded Win 7 Professional platform). But it does have WiFi, along with a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 processor, 2GB of RAM, 64GB SSD, rear 3MP camera and another one at 1.3 megapixels, up front. In addition to that, there’s also a powerful Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator for smooth handling of 1080p content, an SD card slot, a USB port, headphone jacks and a N-Trig active digitizer for those who’d like to take some notes. But wait, if that wasn’t enough, folks, the US computers giant will also add to the package a nice covering case, together with a stylus pen for touch interaction, and this cool charging cradle, which boasts two additional USB hubs, headphone jack, a power connector and HDMI output – all located at the back of the dock. Samsung NF310 Netbook With Dual-Core Atom N550 Processor Announced

Samsung has just taken the wraps off its next 10.1-inch Atom N550 netbook. The 2.87 pounds unit, also known as the NF310, will reportedly feature Intel’s dual-core processor, along with a nine hours battery, and a Windows 7 Starter platform for the preloaded OS. And while you do get hopes by noticing the screen resolution is at 1366 x 768 and that the GMA 3150 graphics is much stronger than its predecessors, the rest of the specs, which apparently include an 802.11b/g/n WiFi connection, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, and 250GB of storage, will no doubt bring you right back down to earth when this $399 lappy goes live, somewhere this coming fall. Dell’s 10.1-Inch Inspiron Duo Netbook / Tablet Hybrid Introduced

It’s day two at Intel’s IDF 2010 summit and it’s finally heating up, literally and metaphorically, as Dell officially announces a neat 10.1-inch swiveling netbook / tablet hybrid machine, running Windows 7 Premium for the OS and boasting Intel’s dual-core Atom N550 processor under the lid. Sure, we’ve already seen these kind of prototypes in the past (Lenovo anyone?), but nothing that could really make us satisfied like Dell’s new Inspiron Duo device. Unfortunately, we’re still in the very early stages so nothing juicy to share – that means you’ll have to wait for a while in order to get price, availability details and other interesting specs – but hey, you can always hit the jump and check this fresh jkkmobile video that will give you a good sense of style, before you take or decide not to take any further steps.

Samsung’s Gives 10.1-inch N350 Netbook LTE and HSPA+ Support

Samsung is not just about tablets. As you can see, its range also contains some new ultra-portable laptop devices that blend in with the most contemporary technology such as 4G connectivity which Sammy has stuffed into its latest and greatest 10.1-inch N350 netbook, in the form of dual-mode LTE and HSPA+ support. Other than that, it’s basically what you’d expect from a lavish netbook these days, with this top-notch dual-core Atom N550 processor inside, paired with 250GB of storage, 1GB of DDR3 RAM, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, multi-card reader, a bunch of speedy USB hubs and a 3-cell battery that is claimed to deliver up to 6.7 hours of continuous work. European prices are considerably high, €429 (about $555), but there’s a good chance they will go down a bit when this thing comes out somewhere this autumn.

ASUS Eee PC 1015PN And 1015PEM Are Said To Include Intel’s New Dual-Core Atom Processor

Oh what a hottie we have in here…A brand new Eee PC netbooks lineup with Intel’s dual-core, mobile Atom N550 processor included? Apparently yes, that’s exactly what Taiwanese corp Asus is planning for us in the coming months. The first version in that group is the 1015PEM, which boasts the new 1.5GHz N550 CPU, paired with a 10.1-inch (1024×600) LED display, 0.3MP webcam, up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 160/250/320 GB HDD at your choice, Intel’s GMA X3150 for the graphics and Windows 7 Starter edition for the OS platform – all priced competitively at €349 (about $440). The second group member is the 1015PN, which is rumored to make a US debut next month with NVIDIA’s Ion 2 module and some other cool goodies inside. Stay tuned for a lot more to come.

Update: Looks like Amazon is finally stepping up and offering the 10.1-inch Asus 1015PN netbook with both Intel’s dual-core 1.5GHz Atom N550 processor and Nvidia ION 2 graphics for $429.99 only. Shipping dates, however, are yet to be determined.

HP Mini 110 and 210 netbooks To Receive Atom N455 and N475 CPUs

HP is bolstering its Mini netbooks lineup today with a slew of revamped Mini 110 and Mini 210 ultra portable versions. Both devices are expected to go on sale these days as prices start at $280 and climb up to $330, respectively, while the inside part of the pack unveils Intel’s N455 or N475 Atom CPUs, at your choice, which add even more processing power to your lappies and DDR3 memory support, for extra $25 on top of basic prices. Other components remain pretty much the same.

Sony Vaio P Lineup Resurfaces With an Optical Touchpad and Accelerometer

Does anyone remember Sony’s revolutionary Vaio P series? It seems to be a forgotten word until lately for some reason. Only now, it finally gets the update it needed but it doesn’t hold a candle to the tablet’s eclectic experience, does it?  Thankfully, the 8-inch netbook (or mini laptop for that matter) we’ve come to know and love, is back with an optical touchpad built to both sides of the screen bezel – pad to the right and mouse buttons to the left – and an integrated accelerometer, to ease your internet surfing mission, as tilt means back and forward in pages while vertical mode makes it a lot more convenient to read your docs. Besides that it’s also expected to include a faster Intel Atom Z560 processor to boost things up, and make it out sometime this June with five new colorful flavors. Prices, regretfully, are yet to be determined while specs and Full PR announcement are just after the break. Stay tuned.

Update1: Turns out that VAIO P entry-level units will run for $799 in the US with Intel’s 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor inside. Still no clue about other optional packages, but the price is definitely more attractive than expected.

Update2: The guys at ITMedia have already managed to take Sony’s Vaio P next-gen laptops to a comprehensive teardown session that unveiled the existence of Intel’s Silverthorne CPU inside, offered either in Z530 (1.6 GHz), Z550 (2Ghz) or Z560 (2.133 GHz) version, paired with one of three optional SSD capacities (64, 128 and 256GB), and most common connectivity modules, including Bluetooth, WiFi, 3G WWAN and even Wimax. Netbook news has published a lot of inside images, taken from close range, so click through and take a look.

Update4: According to Sony Japan Sony’s Vaio P second-gen can also be used as a wireless “Remote Keyboard” to your PS3 gaming console – neat, isn’t it? Of course it would drain your battery life quickly, but that’s one compromise against so many benefits.

Update5: And looks like Sony’s second-gen VAIO P is finally available for pre-order on the SonyStyle website, starting at $899.99 for the Atom Z530 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM, and a larger 128GB SSD. Shipping is slated to June 25th.

And therefore, for a whopping $671, you may think you’re buying an ultra portable laptop while in practice it’s actually a tablet, that packs an Intel Atom N450 processor paired with 2GB RAM, Intel’s Atom N450 processor, 250GB SATA HDD, 2mp webcam, 4-in-1 card reader, 3 x USB ports, WiFi, 3G connectivity, an HDMI output and finally, Windows 7 for the OS command – impressive, but still expensive to buy. Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3s Sneaks Into The Thin and Light Netbooks World

We’ve already seen Lenovos’s new S10-3 netbooks lineup pass through the CES show in Vegas, back in January, but we’ve only just now been treated to the first proper piece of info about the company’s S10-3S device, which apparently includes the usual peek under the hood, but a whole new thin-and-light outfit from the outside. And while most usual S10-3 versions are measured at 1-inch thick, this one, on the other hand, is only .6-inches thin over 2.4 lbs. What’s more, the new version also offers Intel’s Atom N450 / N470 processors, 1GB of RAM, storage capacities ranged from 160GB and up to 320GB at your choice – and those interested, can now get the basic specs for $379 and not a penny more. At first glance, the latest Asus Eee PC 1001PX is just the typical Pine Trail netbook machine you all should be expecting, with this wide glossy 10.1-inch display, powered by Intel’s Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, 9 hours of  battery life and Windows 7 Starter edition to handle things around – this ain’t new, we’ve already seen it before, right?  That been said, a closer look at this thin-n-slim Seashell formed laptop  device would likely change your minds. Why, you’re asking? It’s that stunning carbon-fiber coat that tops the cover lid, all the way down, granting the 1001PX a nice premium look, rather than a fingerprints magnet hood that would ridiculously cost ‘ya only $299 (or $20 less in case you’re more into the old fashioned XP style).

If  Spanish Clipset‘s words should be taken at face value, HP’s most anticipated 7-inch slate wonder may finally get the official announcement  we’ve all been waiting for somewhere this June, while retail presence should start “before September” . That said, we should all proceed with caution when it comes to rumors, Right? Nevertheless, it is said to include Intel’s Atom processor inside, along several USB ports (you hear that Apple?), a card reader slot extension, a built-in back-mounted webcam and even…a flash support – all priced VERY competitively, at €400 (or $545) – but this remains to be officially determined in the following months. ASUS Eee PC 1005PR Joins The Pack With Broadcom Crystal HD Onboard

Eee PC netbooks – if you think you’ve seen them all – think again, because right now, the way it looks we’re back to the “hard-to-follow” position, where new models with very similar names come out to the pond twice a day. A few weeks ago, it was Asus’ new lineup, including versions like 1016P, 1018P and 1015p that showed up in the wild, and now it’s the newly made Eee PC 1005PR that just got released and suppose to replace the four months old 1005PE device. What’s new, you’re asking? While shape and feel are pretty much the same, Graphics wise, it’s a whole new story with that 10.1-inch 1366×768 HD compatible display stuffed inside, powered by Broadcom’s Crystal HD accelerator that can easily run your high-def files. The rest of the specs is nothing to be shout off, but definitely descent: 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450, 1GB of RAM, and 320GB hard drive. Price and availability are yet to be determined. Stay tuned.

Update1: And looks like ASUS’ Eee PC 1005PR is now up for pre-order at Amazon (with all the good stuff included) for $399.99 only, which makes this HD compatible netbook pretty attractive for acquisition, in its 10-inch category. Ship dates haven’t been disclosed yet.

Update2: Apparently, the Eee PC Seashell 1005PR is now fully available for shipping, anywhere around the world, with that same $400 price tag and staggering 11 hours battery life. Get it now if you care for longevity and the HD vibes.

Dell Mini 10 Gets a WiMAX Update, Needs To Pass FCC First

As it looks, Dell’s Mini 10 netbooks are about to receive a major update, once they get through the FCC certification process, a matter of week or two. And while most specs apparently remain pretty much the same, connection on the other hand turns to be a lot more faster with bigger coverage compared to predecessors’ range. That, results from Round Rock’s new WiMAX adapter, Intel WiFi-Link 6250, that was stuffed inside the tiny portable laptops and aims to make a change. Other than that, for a $299 starting price you buy yourself that same good 10.1-inch display, tucked with a Pine Trail Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM, 250GB hard-drive, a 6-cell battery and an optional Broadcom Crystal HD graphics card. Availability is unknown at the moment, but probably will go live when clearance is finally granted.

Cowon Atom-powered W2 MID Pops Up With Windows 7 Inside

We haven’t heard much from Cowon lately. In fact, we’ve heard nothing from them since last December. But that as a fact doesn’t mean the Korean corp wasn’t active at all – look, they just rolled out a MID (sigh) – and it’s a 4.8-inch with 1024 x 600 touchscreen LCD, running a Windows 7 platform, powered by a 1.3GHz Intel Atom processor. It’s a bit bulky, and a thick bezel surrounds the frame. The chassis is made of silver brushed metal, housing four buttons, two on each side. There are stereo speakers bundled within, along Ethernet port and single TV output – but that’s about what the company was willing to share at this point. Stay tuned for more.

Update1: Turns out Cowon’s W2 MID will eventually make official debut on January 25th with that 4.8-inc WSVGA screen, along a 1.3GHz Intel Atom Z520, 1GB RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth, 2 x USB ports Battery at 10/7 hours (audio/video) and either 60GB or 80GB capacities at your choice. Retail price is at 599,000 to 739,000KRW, respectively (about $530 to $660).

Update2: Apparently, AVING guys have managed to catch some quality time with the new Atom-powered Cowon W2 MID, in one of those  trading shows in Asia. And although it feels thick and bulky at first impression, you have to admit the front looks awesome, both portrait and landscape modes. In addition, it seems to have an optional USB QWERTY keyboard  that can be attached into the left side of the chassis. No word about US release or prices, but ’till then, two more image are placed after the break.

UMID's M2 Mini Netbook Device Sprouts Out Loud With Windows 7 Inside

Korean company UMID didn’t have much of a success when first launched its 4.8-inches M1 mini netbook version, a few months ago. But now, after finally fixing up some of the main issues that turned its first round somehow repelled, a new edition, which carries the name “M2” has risen up from the dark, and is now ready to be rolled out somewhere towards the end of the year, for a much cheaper price of $499 (instead of $765). First thing you’ll notice is the screen, that apparently flips out and turns widely open on the M2 (thanks to the new hinge), compared to its very angle-limited predecessor. This fact will help new M2 users hold the unit comfortably in their hands and type the keyboard in a more convenient way than previously done. Other thing you might be noticing, is the real USB port that was hooked to UMID’s M2 revamped chassis, which doesn’t necessarily require any dongles to connect. Besides that, the company has also integrated an optical mouse, that seats on front of the M2 bezel frame, while both left-right buttons were placed to the left. As for internal specs, you get to choose between 1.2 or 1.6GHz Intel Atom processors, which will presumably operate under the much expected Windows 7 OS and a larger 1GB of RAM. Other than that, UMID will probably stick to most of the parts, included in M1, but that’s for us to find out in the coming months. Update: Turns out UMID M2 is now known as Onkyo BX, but besides the re-branding process nothing substantial has really changed. It still has that Intel 1.2GHz Atom Z515 processor, along a 4.8-inch 1024 x 600 LCD, a 32GB SSD and 512MB of memory. Design remains the same as well, so does the price – ¥64,800, or $730. Asus To Boost Up Eee PC 1002H With Atom N280

Without any roaring announcements, ASUS has just rolled out a new version of the Eee PC 1002HA, featuring the same specs, only with an Atom N280 CPU, instead of the traditional N270. Besides that, the new 1002H (it’s all about the missing “A”) netbook packs a 10-inch LED-backlit display, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, a card reader, three USB 2.0 ports and a 1.3MP camera. Regretfully, we have no pricing or availability details, but in terms of design, you’ll be able to purchase this new version either in Black, Pink or Pearl White (our favorite flavor).

Update: Looking at the image, might let us think the new 1002H includes a chiclet keyboard inside (the kind you have in the new VAIO models),  but we can’t be 100% sure about it.

Asus Eee PC 1000HE Gets a Touchscreen Modding Tutorial

Plenty of netbook fanboys refuse to settle with their regular out-of-the-box devices, even if it’s the new Asus Eee PC 1000HE, which comes with a nice chiclet keyboard  and 9 hours battery inside. Instead, they tweak and mod the 10-inch display, turning it into a very useful touchscreen machine, that can easily compete with the upcoming T91 models from Asus itself.

If you consider yourself a tech geek who can handle those cool screen-upgrades, you should take a look at this three-parts tutorial video, featuring a 1000HE display modding, as the original screen turns into a Hoda Technology touchscreen, with all the necessary steps involved. Asus To Launch The Eee Box B208 With Windows Vista And HD Capabilities

While we were taking the wraps off the Eee Box 206 last week, Asus was already prepping its next release,  which has been confirmed as the Eee Box B208, coming with a 1.6GHz dual-core Atom 330 processor, along with 1GB of RAM, a memory card reader, WiFi b/g/n connection, ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics card, a bundled remote control and HDMI output, to let you watch any HD content on your LCD TV. Different from previous versions, the new B208 will house Windows Vista in each of the optional storage capacities, starting from 160GB inside the basic package and up to 320GB at the top. Other than that, you get an integrated battery, to be used as a UPS device in case of a power outage and the already known Eee Cinema software to handle your multimedia files. Unfortunately, there are no available details about price or availability, but be sure we’ll share this info as soon as it lands in.

Update1: This is weird, but Asus has just removed the B208 from its website, after a very short appearance, and we have no idea why or when this new nettop machine is about to make a comeback. Until then, you’ll have to settle with the aforementioned specs that we’ve managed to pull out while it was up. In any case, no pricing details to share at this point but we promise to update soon.

Update2: Latest reports indicate the Eee Box B208 might show up again, this time on the European side of the world, somewhere around June – fingers crossed.

Asus Eee Box 206 Officially Goes Live With HDMI Connection

Looks like Asus Eee Box 206 finally makes a debut, after been spotted back in December 2008 together with the Eee Box 204 version. The new 206 Eee Box model can easily distinguish itself from previous devices with the HDMI port at the back and the AMD ATI Radeon HD 3450 graphics card inside that give more video power to the users, along with the other components that include a DVI output, 1.6GHz  Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, WiFi/Bluetooth connections and a bundled remote control, which lets you handle everything from the sofa. To get this new machine, powered by Windows XP and Eee Cinema media software, you will have to separate yourself from £310 ($438), so make a choice, it’s either Black or White [Another image after the break].

Update: According to the guys at Register Hardware who’ve managed to put their hands on ASUS’ Eee Box B206, it seems this little creature encountered major difficulties while handling high-def content, even when playing 720P videos – which makes it mainly usable for internet surfing, and some other casual tasks like office management or image browsing. And with poor Benchmark scores achieved, looks like your dream of 1080p machine, sitting next to your brand new LCD screen, is about to vanish.

Viliv S5 MID Gets The Unboxing Treatment

There’s a lot of buzz around the new S5 MID from Viliv, which boasts impressive specs in a small package. To be more specific, you get tons of top-notch features, including a 1.33GHz Atom Z520 processor, 1GB of RAM, 60GB hard-drive, WiFi connection, integrated GPS navigation system and 1080p HD video support, adorned by a sleeky black 4.8-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen. Regretfully, we don’t have it in our hands yet, but the lucky guys at UMPC Fever have managed to take a close look at this great device and prepared an unboxing video to let us drool all over the place while watching it. Asus Eee PC 1000HE Netbook Will Support Longer Working Hours

It’s been a while since we were last hearing from Asus about any new netbook release, but no worries the Taiwanese are here, live and kicking with the Eee PC 1000HE, which is part of the 1000H lineup, only capable of providing up to 9.5 working hours (!), thanks to the high-density battery and Super Hybrid Engine technology that the company has developed. Surprisingly, the official announcement first popped up on ASUS Eee PC Facebook group, suggesting a 10-inch LED backlit display, together with a 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor, 160GB hard-drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi connection and Bluetooth 2.0. Price wise, the new 1000HE model will set you back for $399 in pre-order, but FB group members get an additional $25 discount, which makes the entire deal very affordable. Viliv S5 MID Goes Live In Korea At The Beginning Of 2009

Viliv has already proved us it can deliver advanced multimedia devices, sporting top-notch technologies and fancy designs. Today, we learn from an interview with the parent company Yukyung that the corporation will continue its faithful tradition, as the Korean brand plans to release the S5 MID and the S7 UMPC somewhere at the beginning of 2009. With lack of details about the S7 model, the S5 MID packs a 1.33GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 4.8-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, optional GPS / DMB functions and 1.3-inch hard-drives or 1.8-inch if you’re getting the WiBro versions. The “self-made” OS looks fairly attractive, although a Windows XP flavor will be offered as well. The battery will be able to provide up to six hours of use, while HD video usage will drop it down to 4.5 hours only. Still no pricing details, but Yukyung was willing to confirm the S7 is still on track for a release right after the S5.

Update2: Viliv has officially announced it will release the S5 in the US and Europe at March 3rd, while Korean fanboys can pre-order the device starting February 24th. Price wise, the premium model including Intel Silverthorne-class 1.33GHz Z520 CPU, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS will go for @649 in the US or €619 in Europe, as the DMB digital TV F-LOG version will set you back for $699.

Update3: having Windows XP onboard, You can easily install iTunes inside and search your music with the cover flow rendition, as shown in the video below.

TG Sambo Introduces The LLUON Mobbit MID In Korea

Korean company TG (Trigem) unveils its latest LLUON Mobbit PS400 MID device, scheduled to be released somewhere in January 2009 for 600,000 won ($405). The new LLUON packs an Intel Atom Z520 processor, together with a 4.8-inch 1,024 x 600 touchscreen, 1GB of RAM, 2MP camera, T-DMB tuner, WiFi / WiMax (WiBro) connectivity and either 16GB SSD drive or 30GB HDD storage to choose from. The good news are those impressive specs, provided inside the machine, carrying a reasonable price tag which sets a new line that resembles the netbooks family. Update: The LLUON Mobbit MID is finally out for sale, available for about $490 in case you choose the WiBro version with a compelling 18 months subscription, or $560 in case you dismiss the Wibro connectivity and stay with the original (and impressive) specs.

Asus Rolls Out Eee Box 204 And 206 To Handle HD Content

Following the release of the Eee Box 202, Asus has decided to go far beyond, offering two new models, including the Eee Box B204 and B206, which pack the same specs, like Windows XP Home, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD storage, and 802.11n WiFi, only with additional HDMI socket that improves the 1080p handling and plays high-def content without stuttering. There’s also Bluetooth connectivity and a built-in battery on the B204 version, so you will be able to continue using it in case there’s an electric crash at your vicinity. Still, no price or availability details.

Update1: turns out Asus has launched another model – a Celeron-based Eee Box B203, boasting Intel C220 processor, 160GB storage capacity and up to 2GB RAM.

Frontier To Launch The "Kouziro", a 10.2" Netbook With Basic Specs

Japanese company Frontier, announces the release of Kouziro, a 10.2-inch netbook that looks pretty ordinary and has the regular specs, including Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 802.11 b / g wifi connection and 120/160 HDD storage capacity. The company offers 3 versions to choose from, while the basic model comes with XP Home Edition ($533), the premium boasts the XP PRO ($694), and the third packs Windows Vista inside ($568). As mentioned, nothing special in this black Asian edition, but  the prices, which are expropriated, comparing to other available models with similar specifications.

ASUS Eee PC 1002HA Netbook Announced

Like you haven’t had enough, Asus has released another netbook model to the overcrowded market. This time, it’s the Eee PC 1002HA, which has the slim and stylish S101 flavor, only with a more reasonable price tag. It is equipped with a 10.1-inch LED-backlit display, the usual Intel Atom 1.6GHz CPU, 160GB hard-drive and 1GB of RAM. In addition, the Eee 1002HA has three USB 2.0 ports, ethernet, VGA output, and SD card slot, all packed in a 1.2kg, across 26.4 x 18.1 x 2.76cm box. As for the downside, the new netbook comes with a miniscule two-cell 4200mAh battery, but the good news are the slashed prices, that stand at $565 (compared to the S101 $700 pricing). Official shipping date remains unclear, although there’s a certitude it won’t be long.

LG Xnote Mini Netbook To Be Released In Korea

LG Electronics rolls out the Xnote Mini netbook (AKA: X110), with all the usual specs, including a 10-inch 1024 x 600 display, Intel Atom N270 processor, 4-in-1 card reader, 1.3MP webcam, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11 b/g WiFi connectivity. It comes with a Windows XP onboard and houses a 3-cell battery, together with a huge 160GB hard drive, all in a light 1.19kg package. Still, no word on availability outside Korea, but if you happen to be there, you can get one for an expropriated price tag of 699,000 KRW ($600), which will be slashed down, as it hits Stateside.

Update: Official name is X110 Momo. In addition, you will get the option to buy it with 3G WWAN connectivity inside, for $586 to $733 (customizable specs).

Samsung To Launch Its Netbook Version Around October

Not much of a surprise, but Samsung has just introduced a new netbook, to be released somewhere around October, and you’ve guessed it right – the looks and the specs are similar to the other fellows in the group, featuring a 10.2-inch display and the usual Intel Atom N270 processor, together with 1GB of RAM, a 1.3M webcam, and a 3-in-1 card reader. In addition, the new Samsung netbook (no official name at the moment) is expected to be shipped with a Windows XP OS, a 6-cell battery for longer workout, and storage capacity, ranged from 80GB up to 160GB HDD. As mentioned, this 2.9 lbs netbook should be available around October, in black, white or blue flavors, for an undisclosed price, though we have our assumptions that it will carry a $550 price tag.

Asus Rolls Out The New High-End N10 Netbook

Following the great Eee PC success and the dominance within the netbooks market,  Asus keeps going forward, introducing a new lavish netbook, sans the Eee brand logo that has characterized their lineup. The new N10 was designed for the higher-end market, introducing a 10.2-inch LED backlight display (1024 x 768) and an Intel Atom-based N270 processor, together with a strong GeForce 9300GS graphics card. In addition, it packs Windows Vista Business, Altec Lansing speakers, a 250GB hard drive, a fingerprint reader and even an HDMI output, all for estimated prices, ranged from $450 up to $600. Korean launch is scheduled to mid-end September, so stay tuned for more to come.

Update: turns out Asus will offer 3 configurable netbooks, including the N10E-A1 that will have the basic specs without the HDMI connection, Nvidia 9300GS graphics, fingerprint reader, wireless connector N or Bluetooth. Instead, it will pack Windows XP, together with Intel Atom CPU, 10.2-inch display, a 160GB hard drive, 1GB RAM, 6-cell battery, 1.3M webcam and wireless 802.11 B/G connectivity, all for $649. N10J-A1that will house Windows Vista Premium, together with Intel Atom CPU, 10.2-inch display, a 160GB hard drive, 2GB RAM, Nvidia 9300GS graphics card, Bluetooth/WiFi 802.11B/G/N connectivity, 6-cell battery, 1.3M webcam and HDMI connector, all for $749. N10J-A2 that will sport the same specs as the N10J-A1model, only with a 250GB hard drive, all for $849.

Remember the Amilo Mini netbook from Fujitsu? turns out it becomes official, as the company has finally confirmed it at the IFA 2008 in Berlin. Although it looks a bit different from the others, with its unique interchangeable colorful lids, the new Amilo mini has pretty much the same features, including a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 8.9-inch WSVGA Display (1024 x 600), 1.3M camera, 1GB of RAM, 60GB or 80GB HDD storage capacity, WLAN 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth connectivity, and Windows XP Home Edition, running inside the 1 kg UMPC. It will be available in October for around €399 ($585).

First time we had a chance to see this amazing Atom-based MID (Mobile Internet Device) was back at the CES show in January, as Intel introduced its latest Menlow system on the Aigo devices. Now we hear that this amazing Aigo P8860 MID is about to go live in Hong Kong with a 800MHz Atom Z500 processor, a 4.8-inch display, Bluetooth, Wifi, microSD slot expansion, 4GB SSD storage capacity, sliding QWERTY keyboard, GPS navigation system and HSPDA, running on MIDLinux system, also known as Midinux. Korean company Ripple has introduced the new Mini Chocolate, one of the first Atom-based PC desktops to make a debut these days with the Mini-ITX form factor and a 1.6GHz Atom processor. In addition, the new mini PC houses four USB ports, two SATA sockets, a single IDE socket, 10/1000 ethernet connection, a place for a slot-loading optical drive and up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, which will be enough to run all of your basic home-office activities. It comes in 3 different colors, including black, red or silver and a $200 price tag. Unfortunately, there’s no word if or when it will hit Stateside, but i’m sure we are going to see plenty of those in the near future.

Acer Wants To Compete With The Eee PC: Officially Introduces The New Aspire One Mini Laptop

After Asus, MSI, HP and Dell, there’s another player who wants to take part in the mini-laptop party, as Acer has introduced its new Aspire One notebook at Computex in Taipei. Nothing much to say, but we do know it will be equipped with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 8.9-inch LED-backlit display (1024 x 600), a built-in 1.3 MP camera, three USB 2.0, card reader slot, 802.11b/g and Ethernet connectivity. You will be able to choose between a Linux model with 8GB SSD storage capacity or a Windows XP model with 80GB hard drive. The Acer Aspire One will be available this month in white or blue flavors, for prices ranged from $400 (Linux version) up to $600 (XP version).

Update2: Turns out there is a problem, once playing music at maximum level through the speakers. According to several reports, a guy who played U2’s “Hold Me, Thrill Me…” at full sound, caused a vibration of the speakers which completely trashed the hard drive. The problems occurs only in hard drive devices but skips out in case you have SSD drives.

Asus Eee PC 901 Gets a New Design And an Intel Atom Processor

As planned, Asus preps to release its own Atom-based Eee PC version and we get a chance to glance at the Eee 901, coming up in June, a month after the Eee 900 was launched in the US and days after the MSI Wind has emerged with the Atom processor. As you can see, it looks a tad different from the first models with the metal sides on the screen hinge, Asus logo is vanished, metal framing around the trackpad and some other buttons and outputs rearrangements.

Update: June 3rd is the date of release and the price is expected to be around $650 for the XP version.

Asus Eee PC 900 Gets a Quick Video Review And deliveres the goods

Although it is not expected to be released with the new Intel Atom processor, the new Eee PC 900 looks very impressive, as the guys at pcmarket arranged a quick video preview of the mini laptop, showing its qualities, compared to the previous Eee PC 701 model. To recall, the new Eee 900 is equipped with an 8.9-inch screen, houses 12GB or 12GB storage capacities and has a large multi-touchpad. Hopefully it will arrive Stateside with the release of the Atom around June. Check out the video:
