Toshiba Introduces The 12.5-inch Portege Z20t Hybrid Tablet

 

At CES 2015, Toshiba has officially introduced a possible 12.5-inch rival to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet. The giant device, that will be released under the name Portege Z20t is actually serving as a hybrid machine between a PC and a tablet and is claimed to be powerful enough to deliver any project you’d be working on, even the most difficult ones.

The Portege Z20t which will go on sale this January, comes equipped with a low-power Intel Core M processor below the surface, as well as a 1,920 x 1,080 screen resolution on top of the slab and an optional Wacom-based digitizer, which enables up to 2,048 levels of pressure-sensitive pen input. As with many other handhelds available on the market these days, the screen is covered with an anti-glare protection layer to minimize glare and un-wanted reflections.

Measuring in only 0.35 inch thick and 1.6 pounds, the Z20t also includes a pair of cameras, as well as Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB hub, Micro-HDMI output, Ethernet, RGB, microSD slot expansion and two internal USB 3.0 ports. As for power, the Portege Z20t is said to provide up to 9 hours of battery life when you work with the tablet as a standalone device, and up to 17.5 hours of continuous work with the keyboard docking station attached.

Toshiba will offer the Portege Z20t with options for either 4GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB and 512GB of SSD storage variants. Price wise, the slate will start at a whopping $1,399 for the basic entry-level unit plus a keyboard, but without the optional Wacom pen support. If you wanna try adding the pen, prices will jump all the way up to 1,899.

Toshiba Launches $120 Encore Mini Windows Tablet

 

The battle for the cheapest Windows tablet device is hitting up the podium again with Japanese corp Toshiba announcing a 7-inch Windows 8.1 slab, dubbed the Encore Mini. The device, as you may figure out already, is pretty small, to say the least, and with a smaller screen usually comes a very small price. Of course, it doesn’t mean that for the $120 that Tosh is planning to list the slate (and the $99 it wants to sell it for), you’re getting the top of the line. On the contrary, the screen resolution is a mediocre 1024 x 600 and the tablet is powered by Intel’s Atom Z3735G processor that has four cores humming at 1.33 GHz. Still, if you find it in the bargain bin I’d suggest picking it up. The pieces are there, but it does not function to very high specifications.

What else do you get inside? With the integrated microSD card slot, your Encore Mini has up to 128GB of internal storage which would pair very well with the 1GB RAM, and the 16GB capacity below. Toshiba is also throwing in a pair of 2MP and 0.3MP cameras, as well as 802.11n Wi-Fi adapter, Miracast support for wireless video streaming, Bluetooth 4.0, and a bunch of other goodies, such as a free one year subscription of Office 365 and 1TB of One Drive storage.  Sounds like a really good bargain, No?

Toshiba’s Android, Windows 8 New Line Heat Up the Tablet Wars

Toshiba revealed on Tuesday a new line of Windows 8.1/Android tablets, at affordable and competitive price choices. The Japanese company, which has struggled to compete with the popular iPad and with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series, has finally reached the point where it will be attractive to buyers. Yes, competition is the best way deliver what consumers want at the lowest possible cost.

Getting started with the Excite Go, this 7-inch slate offers rather low 1024 x 600 screen resolution but the tablet is packing merely 16GB of internal storage. Thankfully, there’s a microSD slot so you can add up to 128GB if needed. The Excite Go also runs Android KitKat OS, powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor, and a battery that Tosh claims will last up to 8 hours on continuous use. The Go will normally retail for $109.99, but you will be able to nab one in early July for only $99. Not a bad deal at all for Toshiba, an international brand that offers high-quality products.

Moving on to the next batch, Toshiba is adding two more Windows tablets, the 8- and 10-inch Encore 2. The duo, which will start at $200 for the 8-inch and $270 for the 10-inch, are said to tout quad-core Intel Atom processors under the hood, as well as 1,280 x 800 IPS screens and up to 64GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot. Toshiba promises up to 10 hours of battery life on average use, alongside a single-year subscription to Office 365 Personal package. Other notable features include an 802.11n Wi-Fi, together with a front-facing shooter plus a 5MP rear facing camera, tucked with an HDMI-output and a Micro-USB 2.0 port.

Toshiba Reveals Budget Excite 7 Tablet

Toshiba today announces its latest 7-inch tablet, the Excite 7. Now, don’t expect this new device to be on par with the rest of the popular Excite tablet family. It is a budget 1.6GHz quad-core slate, with a mediocre 7-inch display on board, boasting 1,024×600 screen resolution and with Mali 400MP quad-core GPU. Not exactly the top-notch hardware you’d get with the Excite Pro and Excite Pure Android Jelly Bean slabs, but the price is to be respectively less as well. At its $169 base price, Toshiba’s entry-level tablet packs 1GB of RAM, your choice of 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot expansion, USB, HDMI out and a standard Wifi connectivity plus Bluetooth 4.0. The cameras on this fat bezel slate are at the low end of the digital spectrum range, with only 3-megapixel camera on the back and a 0.3-megapixel shooter up front. Again, it’s a cheap makeover but fairly new. On the other hand, there are quite a few great options out there that have more reliable performance technology inside, and that cost only a few dollars more; the new Nexus 7 for example. Anyways, everything is at your discretion what to buy and what not to.

Toshiba Encore 8-inch Windows Tablet Breaks Cover

Toshiba has made its first foray into the world of mid-range Windows tablets with the recent release of the Encore Windows tablet. The 8-inch device, which sports a 1200 x 800 pixel resolution multi-touch display, will measure 10.68mm thick, making it just slightly thinner than Acer’s 8.1-Inch Iconia W3, its main Taiwanese rival. The new slate is said to be powered by an Intel Bay Trail Atom processor under the lid, and will be coming pre-loaded with Windows 8.1 OS. You will also get 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD up to 32GB) along with a rear 8-megapixel camera and a front 2-megapixel shooter, for Skype video conversations. As far as I/O is concerned the Encore slab is fully equipped with a micro HDMI, micro USB, 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi connectivity, and Bluetooth 4.0. The tablet also includes a full-featured suite of productivity software including Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013, and Xbox SmartGlass app to play movies, music, or more from the slab on your Xbox 360 console, or even track and connect with your Xbox Live friends, compare achievements, and change up your 3D avatar. The new Encore tablet will be available for purchase this coming November, with pricing to start at a cool $329.99 price tag.

Toshiba Rolls Out Three Android Tablets With Tegra 4 Inside

Uh oh, look who’s back in town.. Toshiba! The Japanese-based company, which is most well known for its wide range of high-quality television sets, has just officially introduced a couple of new Android Jelly Bean slabs, the Excite Pure, Excite Pro and the Excite Write. Mind you, these are not your average tablets. While they are banking on the 10-inch high-def form factor to be enough to drive sales, there’s a lot more to like here. For a start, have a look at the $300 Excite Pure model. It features a Tegra 3 SoC, alongside a 1,280 x 800 screen with Gorilla Glass 1 on the top. In addition, it packs a wide range of ports, and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage to choose from. The immediate next higher model is the Excite Pro. A big upgrade that includes the brand spanking new Tegra 4 chip, paired with 32 gigs of storage, Harman Kardon speakers, 8MP rear-facing camera, and a whopping 2,560 x 1,600 (300 ppi) Gorilla Glass 2 screen on top. Just for the record, the iPad 4‘s Retina resolution screen is at 2048×1536, so you can get a good sense of what this tablet is about. Anyway, if you’d like to order yourself one, it will be available from early July, for $500.

Moving on to the third (and last) model in that group, the Excite Write. Overall, this is a top notch machine with almost similar specs as the Toshiba Excite Pro: A 10.1-inch, 2,560 x 1,600 display, Tegra 4 SoC, 32GB of internal storage, and an 8-megapixel shooter on the back of this Tosh. But what really sets this model apart from the rest is the active digitizer feature that improves your writing precision and supports up to 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity, which is one big deal, to say the least. This one will go for $600, sometime next month.

Toshiba Announces 10.1-Inch REGZA Tablet AT501

Toshiba has just announced a new joiner to its burgeoning Android tablet family, the REGZA Tablet AT501, which supposed to replace the previous AT500 model. The new device has the latest version of Google Android, under the hood, alongside a 1.3GHz Tegra 3 chip and 1GB of RAM. The screen measures 10.1 inches diagonally, but the pixel rate is only at 1,280 x 800 IPS. Famous for its TV line, Toshiba has also added to this slab, a nice feature that will enable you to use it as a cool companion to the popular REGZA series, at no time. And while battery is said to deliver up to 10 hours of continuous work, the camera on the back is a bit disappointing, at 3-megapixel only. But that’s what you get for the price of  40,000 yen, or $425, right?

Toshiba Announces New AT300SE Android Jelly Bean Tablet

Toshiba hasn’t been a major player in the Android world, and with their new iteration, they will not necessarily get more ground in the tablet industry, that until now has been largely dominated by Apple. That said, the company still has a lot to offer, and will continue to evolve and release more slates, mostly in the high-end, mid-range form. One tablet that falls in to this category is Toshiba’s latest and greatest Android Jelly Bean AT300SE which recently announced in the UK (US to follow), with a 10.1-inch 1,280 x 800 IPS display on top, a Tegra 3 chipset under the hood, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microUSB hub, and a microSD card slot. It has a 3MP camera on the back and a 1.2 MP FaceTime camera on the front, while battery on this slab is claimed to provide up to 10 hours of lifetime in a one single charge. Toshiba Launches Excite 10, 13 and 7.7 Android Ice Cream Sandwich Tablets

We’ve already heard a few details about Toshiba’s upcoming Excite tablets lineup (both in January and March of this year) but it is only now that the new series has been officially confirmed. Generally speaking, there are three new Excite flavors included: The 7.7-inch, the 10-inch, and the 13-inch (!). And while the Japanese Corp. hasn’t really made a big splash in their previous attempts to enter the market – Mainly for launching bulky, cheap looking, plasticy models – This time, though, it’s going to be different. Why? It’ll be different because this time Tosh is rolling out remarkably thin bunch of slates, powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the OS, 1GB of RAM, and NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core chipset.

The largest and most interesting slab out of the three versions being offered, is naturally the 13.3-inch Excite 13 tablet. A very courageous attempt by the Japs to go against the odds and toss in a massive device, bigger than anything that had been built so far in this very crowded category. Under the lid, you’ll find a 1600 x 900 pixel backlit LED display, made of Gorilla Glass materials, alongside a 13-hours battery, a full-sized SD slot expansion and duo cameras on the back (5MP) and up front (2MP). This one measures approx 10mm thick and weigh 2.2lbs in total. It will go on sale starting June 10, for $650 (32GB) and $750 (64GB).

The mid-size version is the Excite 10, which surprisingly features a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 display, paired with an 8.9mm chassis, similar camera aspects and the same full-sized SD card slot. this one will be equipped with a 10-hours battery and said to go live May 6th, priced at $500 for 16GB, $530 for 32GB, or $650 for the 64GB.

The smallest candidate, the Excite 7.7, packs a brilliant AMOLED screen display sized at the 7-inch range. It is certainly very thin and measures only 7.6mm thick and weigh JUST 0.84lbs. Nonetheless, it sports 1280×800 screen resolution, a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, and a micro-SD slot expansion. Toshiba officials say it will hit the shelves June 10th as well, with prices starting at $500 for the 16GB handset and $580 for the 32GB option.

Toshiba Excite 10 LE Tablet Arrives Stateside March 6

With so many tablets around, we have seen some good stuff from Toshiba lately. And guess what? We are all probably going to see a lot more; the latest, is a 10.1-inch tablet called Excite 10 LE, an updated version of the company’s Excite 10, that only recently got announced (and by “recently” we mean January). The 7.7mm thick device runs Android 3.2 version out of the box, but Tosh claims it will offer an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade sometime before the summer. In addition, it packs a LED backlit 1280 x 800 display, along with a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor, 16GB or 32GB flavors at your choice, micro-USB, HDMI output, WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity, microSD card expansion, 5-megapixel camera on the back plus a standard VGA shooter up front. The 10 LE version will make its stateside official premiere on March 6th, while retail price is expected around $530 for the 16 gigs model, and $600 for the larger capacity slate. Toshiba has officially announced a new sleek 10.1-inch tablet which sports a 1280 x 800  Gorilla Glass IPS touchscreen and said to be the world’s thinnest tablet in the market, to date, with a .3-inch thick and only 1.2-pound in weight. The new slate that goes by the name “Excite X10” is planned to include  a 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 processor under the lid, along with 1GB of RAM, Android 3.2 for the Os (ready for an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade), WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a microUSB, microHDMI, GPS support and microSD card slot. Toshiba To Introduce a 7-inch Android Thrive Tablet

We’ve already seen a 10.-inch Toshiba Thrive version breaking cover in the mids of summer 2011, and now we have an official announcement about a new 7-inch tablet from the company that will allegedly go under the name Thrive 7. Design wise, it does seem to have quite a lot in common with the original ten incher, but in terms of specs there are quite a few changes. For instance, there are no full-sized ports anymore, due to the slim design (you’ll get mini-USB / micro-HDMI jacks and microSD slot), and the operating system is likely to be an Android 3.2 (instead of 3.1). Other than that, we have that same  Tegra 2 chipset, paired with a duo of cameras – 5MP on the back (this time with a LED flash) and another one at 2MP, up front. There’s still no word about pricing, but you’ll be able to nab one either at 16GB or 32GB sometime around Thanksgiving or early December. Hit the jump to read the full announcement.

Toshiba’s Thrive Tablet With Android 3.1 To Make Its US Debut On June 13

Toshiba has just confirmed that its first US tablet, dubbed Thrive, will go live starting June 13th, over at Best Buy retail stores, with prices ranged between $429 for the 8GB version and up to $579 for the 32GB one. Other specs appear to include a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) touchscreen display, along with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, 2 MP front-facing camera, and another at 5MP on the back, a slew of ports such as HDMI, SD card reader, full-sized USB and one single power cord. There’s also a Tegra 2 chip for the graphics and Android 3.1 platform running on board – And they are all crafted into 1.6 pounds of aesthetic plastic which sports a removable battery that delivers up to seven hours of continuous video playback in each and every charge.

Toshiba Mini NB305 and NB505 Netbooks Officially Announced

It’s not just about tablets or smartphones these days, there’s also a very fine line of netbook devices getting released. And the latest in that “still-relevant” category is Toshiba’s ultra-portable series that includes the Mini NB505 and the Mini NB305 machines, both said to have 1GB of RAM, along with a 250GB hard drive, nice chiclet keyboard and Windows 7 Starter for the OS. However, while the Mini NB505 packs an Intel Atom N455 processor and runs for $300, the Mini NB305 which appears to be a bit more powerful, comes with a dual-core Atom N550 processor and costs eighty bucks more ($380). In addition to that, both versions will be offered in wide range of bright and vivid colors at your choice, so if netbooks are still your thing – go for it.

Toshiba Honeycomb Tegra 2 Tablet Announced (Update: AKA ANT)

Shocking! Toshiba has just announced yet another NVIDIA Tegra 2 tablet and oddly, it ain’t the 10-inch Folio slab we’ve all seen before. Details are scarce at the moment but we do know that the package includes a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 display, with an integrated accelerometer, Adaptive Display technology (whatever that means), dual webcams (5mp at the back plus 2mp up front), Google’s Honecomb Android 2.4 platform and myriad types of ports , such as full sized USB and HDMI hubs, a mini-USB socket, and an SD card slot. Obviously, we’re very excited about it, and hopefully we should expect to see a working version in the coming days or so. There’s another image at the other side of the post.

Update1: Quick measures update: The slate is said to weigh about 1.7lb and will feature a 0.6-inches body.

Update2: PCMag’s Lance Ulanoff was lucky enough to take a closer look at one of Toshiba’s unnamed working units at the CES show in Vegas and you can watch his quick “first-look” video right after the break.

Update3: And looks like Tosh has finally started rolling out its latest and greatest Android 3.0 tablets lineup, now available for a purchase over at Newegg‘s online store and known as ANT. Apparently, there are three Honeycomb tablets in stock: ANT-100 ($449.99), ANT-102 ($499.99) and ANT-104 ($579.99). Each one of them boast that 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) touchscreen on top, along with NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip, and either 8/16/32GB of storage at your choice. Cool!

Toshiba NB520 and NB500 Netbooks Officially Announced

Toshiba has recently announced two new additions to its most popular netbooks lineup: the NB500 and the NB520. Both models, slated for release during the first quarter of 2011, are said to include a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 LED-backlit display, along with up to 2GB of RAM, 250GB HDD, 3 x USB ports, Windows 7 Starter edition, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, and a 10 hours battery pack. The main difference between the two, and probably the one you’re wondering about, is a pair of built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers (2 watts each) that will help you take your NB520 sound experience to a whole new audio level. In addition to the physical differences, the NB520 also comes with an Atom N550 processor while its younger brother, the NB500, boasts a slightly slower CPU, an Atom N455. Unfortunately, there are no leaks of information about the prices of these netbooks, but color wise, both models are claimed to be available in a good selection of bright and vivid colors including Brown, Blue, Lime Green, Turquoise and Orange – coated with a soft rubber flavor. Toshiba’s 10-Inch Folio 100 Tablet Now Available Around Europe

Japanese electronic giant Toshiba has purportedly started rolling out its latest and greatest Folio 100 tablet across Europe, according to official PR announcement, delivered after the break. Toshiba had promised it would roll out the Android Froyo slate in the continent before the end of the year, and seems to be sticking to its promise. The 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen device which will retail for €399 for WiFi only version or up to €529 for the 3G-enabled one (available Q1 2011), comes fully equipped with NVIDIA’s new ARM SOC chipset, along with 16GB of internal storage, mini-HDMI output, USB hub, SD card reader, 1.3 megapixel webcam and Bluetooth version 2.1. Toshiba Folio 100 Now Official, Due Out in Q4

Hot on the heels of the tablet sphere, Toshiba’s 10.1-inch Folio 100 slate just got official, only few hours after Samsung’s most anticipated Galaxy Tab has made it out worldwide. And while Toshiba’s elegant Android 2.2 tablet seems a bit unready for the market at the moment, for €399 it still worth the wait. Generally speaking, the new Folio 100 boasts a Tegra 2 chipset  inside but the custom skin which Tosh has thrown on top of Google’s Android platform, feels a bit sluggish to handle UI properly. As mentioned, the display itself is a 10.1 inch 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen and there are 16GB of internal memory hidden under the hood. The chassis is only 0.55-inch thick, which makes this Japanese tablet thin and very light to hold in your hands (1.7 pounds of weight) – still you’ll find an SD card expansion and HDMI output built into the frame. Up front, there’s a 1.3 megapixel camera and the battery is said to deliver up to 7 hours of basic work. Naturally, this slick tablet machine supports a 802.11n WiFi connectivity and software wise will apparently pack an Opera browser along with Toshiba’s costume made Media Player, Documents To Go app, Fring, Evernote and a nice eBook application, called FBReader. Toshiba’s Rumored Smart Pad Device Makes The Unofficial Apperance

We have known for quite some time now that Japanese electronics giant Toshiba is working towards a brand new tablet device – And now, it seems like the good guys at Notebook Italia have apparently managed somehow to get some detailed footage of the company’s alleged technology wonder. Basically, there’s nothing much to report at this point besides the fact it packs both USB and HDMI ports, paired with a memory card reader slot to their right, and a 3.5mm headphone jack to their left. In addition, there are four touch buttons up front the black slick display, implying the whole thing will probably run a Google Android platform inside. More about that at this year’s IFA event which takes place a week and a half from now.

Update1: Rumor has it that Toshiba’s brand new Smart Pad tablet is going to officially be called Folio 100. Other than that, the 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) Android2.2 device is said to include 16GB of internal memory along SD and MMC card readers, 3G WWAN, Bluetooth, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi connections, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 7 hours battery pack, HDMI / USB 2.0 connectors and last but not least, NVIDIA Tegra 2 to smoothly handle  your 1080p graphics. Look under the hood and you are likely to find an Opera mobile browser, paired with variant office apps, e-book reader capabilities and Flash 10.1 support. Update2: Rumors has been officially confirmed, Toshiba’s new tablet device is now called Folio 100. The 10.1-incher does run an Android 2.1 OS and comes with 16GB of storage along with a front-facing a 1.3 megapixel camera, capacitive multitouch display and a bunch of etched touch buttons placed on the right side of the bezel on top.

Toshiba’s Dual-Screen Libretto W100 Officially Available Stateside

Back in June the possible existence of Toshiba’s revolutionary Libretto W100 smartbook was still wobbling between a viable prototype and a pleasureful dream. But today, couple months later, this 7-inch dual-screen wonder officially goes live in US market and turns available for pre-order either in silver or black hues with two to three weeks shipping date on Amazon.com. It’s not cheap, as you may already know, in fact it would actually cost you $1,099.99 buckaroos. In exchange for this staggering price you will get yourself a Pentium U5400 processor, running Windows 7 Home Premium platform inside, along 2GB of DDR3 memory, a 62GB SSD, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, integrated Intel HD card for the graphics and a very impressive 8-cell battery pack that would probably last for a long long time. Toshiba’s 10.1-Inch AC100 Smartbook is All About The Android

Toshiba is coming on strong lately with all sorts of awesomely great netbook devices. And while most models still run a Microsoft Windows OS inside, the latest, AC100 Smartbook, is said to include an Android 2.1 for a change. The Japanese are probably the first to enjoy this bad boy, somewhere around August, as prices start at ¥40,000 and climb up to ¥50,000 or $440 to $550, respectively. In exchange for the money, Toshiba has stuffed a very interesting lineup inside, which apparently includes a 10.1-inch 1,024 x 600 pixels LED backlight displayed, paired with a 32GB SSD, 512MB of DDR2 memory, a 1.3mp webcam, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, an HDMI output to pump vids on your tele, and last but not least, a fairly strong 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 250 processor, to make your 1080p content run stutter free. Software wise, you get a built in Opera Mobile browser to surf the web, a dedicated Toshiba media player, and Documents to Go, that lets you edit any MS Office docs, via Google’s android OS. Toshiba Libretto W100 Dual-Touchscreen Netbook Introduced, Still a Prototype

Still a concept, so please withhold all excitement until it gets live (hopefully in couple of months), and try not to be hard on yourself, will you? After all, we’ve already seen some cool dual-screen tablets/netbooks/laptops showing up in the past, – so the idea, in general, is well known. But that, as a fact, apparently didn’t stop Toshiba from creating its own device, the Libretto W100, which boasts a dual 7-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreens, housing a 1.2GHz Intel Pentium U5400 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM, a 64GB SSD, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 port, MicroSD card slot and and of course, Windows 7 Home Premium for the OS. It’s small, very small, only 7.95” (W) x 4.84”(D) x 1.2”(H) of size and 1.8 lbs of weight. Battery wise, you get the 8-cell pack, that suppose to deliver great longevity, as you run Toshiba’s in-house software that includes  Bulletin Board, ReelTime™ and the PC Health Monitor. The suspense – It’s not going to be cheap at all, with prices rumored to start at $1,099 and climb up with the specs. Toshiba Mini NB305 Emerges Online, Gets Atom N450 And a Lot Of Respect

Toshiba’s NB series is one of the best you can find today in the netbooks category, no doubt, and to be sure you’d still get the latest technology available, the company has updated its lineup with the new Mini NB305 edition, which already showed up online and suppose to hit the street on January 12 with full size keyboard and and 11 hours of battery life. Yes, it packs an Atom N450 processor inside, but also includes a 250GB hard drive along a 10.1-inch backlit LED display, 1GB DDR2 800MHz RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth V2.1, that 6-cell battery with 11 hours longevity and only 2.6 lbs weight. Toshiba will offer this netbook in two major configurations, as the first one comes with a chiclet keyboard and a premium design, available either in brown, white or blue and runs for $400, while second alternative has a black flavor and regular keys that will cost you only $350. Zune HD Officially Goes Live, Already Considered a Hit On The Streets

It’s here! Microsoft officially rolls out its highly rated Zune HD media player, and boy this thing looks good. Yes, we know, most details are pretty much known at this point, but still deserve a round of applause, aren’t they? And just in case you missed the buzz, those fancy shcmancy specs we get, include a beautiful 3.3-inch Gorilla glass 480 x 272 OLED capacitive 16:9 aspect-ratio touchscreen, which hides underneath a built-in HD Radio receiver, seating along with a wireless WiFi antenna connection and a fine batch of accelerometer sensors for landscape use. Excited? We are, but that’s not all, since Redmond has wisely tossed in Nvidia’s mighty Tegra processor, which is technically constructed from eight different sub processors inside, that flawlessly handle their tasks at a time. Now that’s a real beast, isn’t it? OH Yeah. Storage wise, you get to choose between 16GB or 32GB flash capacities that fairly priced at $219.99 and $289.99, respectively.

Toshiba's 7-inch JournE Multimedia Tablet Unveiled

While Apple’s rumored tablet Mac is still on the prep and Arrington’s Crunchpad PC tablet doesn’t take off yet, it’s the Japanese giant Toshiba which steps up these days and catches the big tech headlines, around its latest impressive 7-inch tablet unit, that was first introduced at the IFA trading show in Berlin, yesterday morning. Naturally, like all tablet devices, Toshiba’s JournE multimedia machine is no different, with its sharp and wide touchscreen display, that packs underneath an SD slot expansion that seats right next to 1GB of internal storage (poor), an ARM4 processor, a 802.11b/g WiFi antenna, a 3.5mm headphone jack and even an HDMI connecting port which up-scales 1080p high-def movies with the  bundled dock station you get. Still in a prototype stage, the 14mm thick frame can easily handle all common codecs files available in the market, such as H.264, DivX, and WMV, but will also run some of the most popular online multimedia services like Flickr, Youtube, Picasa, Facebook and others. However, if that’s not enough, Microsoft’s Windows CE 6.0 Pro that runs the entire operation inside, is also provided with many of the OS goodies, including Explorer browser, MSN Messenger, internal video player and many more. Additionally, for those who prefer the non-finger usage, a stylus pen will be added as well, when this thing goes out to the market, somewhere in Q4 this year. Update: Apparently Toshiba’s JournE Multimedia tablet is claimed to include VoIP and ebook apps that will be available for downloading via a future app store, which the company planes to open. Toshiba's Atom NB200 Netbook Gets a European Release, Claimed To Have 9 Hours Battery

Following Toshiba’s 8.9-inch NB100 netbook, we’ve already seen in the past, the company announces a new 10.1 inch version that carries the sequel title of NB200 and packs an Atom N270 processor or Atom N280, in case you’re into the optional specs. Other than that, the new model which suppose to make a European debut somewhere around May starting at $319, packs just about everything you know, like 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, 0.3 megapixels webcam, integrated 802.11 b/g WiFi/Bluetooth connections and three USB ports – all expected to work longer than usual, thanks to the claimed 9 hours battery Toshiba has added to each of the flavors you get to choose from (Black, White, Brown or Pink).

Toshiba NB100 Netbook Gets Official In Europe

ARRRRGH…this is getting way overcrowded, but who cares, when there’s a competition around and the joiner is Toshiba, that officially Introduces its latest NB100 netbook, to be released in October, with the expected Atom N270 processor and the 8.9-inch, 1024 x 600 display. You can also find either Ubuntu or Windows XP onboard, together with 1GB of RAM, built-in WiFi, 120GB storage capacity and 3 covering colors to choose from, including Champagne Gold, Bright Silver or Cosmic Black. As mentioned, it’s going to make a debut across Europe next month for £260 ($470).

Greenpeace Guide Marks The Greener Within Electronics Companies

Every year, Greenpeace releases the “Guide to Greener Electronics”, indicating the “green” level of electronic companies and placing them on a 0-10 analog meter scale. The guide, which rates performance based on policies and practices on toxic chemicals and electronic waste, shows that Asian companies like Samsung and Toshiba have won the highest score, gaining 7.7 points, while Nintendo has scored only 0.3 points, “earning” the most feckless e-waste company of 2008. Other 18 tech companies in the guide, include Microsoft, Sharp, Sony Ericsson, Philips, Acer, Hp, Motorola, and more. According to Greenpeace toxic waste campaigner, Iza Kruszewska, “The challenge is clear. To be truly green, the IT industry needs to commit to designing products that are free of toxic chemicals, are energy efficient, durable, and recyclable while taking full responsibility for them globally, including when they become waste“, and we say – Amen.
