ViewSonic Reveals The ViewPad G70, E100 and P100 Tablets

It was back in January when we first heard that Viewsonic is launching trio of Android 4.0 and Windows 7 tablets, and now the U.S electronic giant has officially announced three tablets more, ViewPad G70, E100 and P100. The first in that group, the ViewPad G70, comes equipped with a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) touchscreen display, a “super light, super slim” chassis, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, Ice Cream Sandwich for the operating system, and a microSD card slot. Furthermore, you get two integrated cameras, a rear 2-megapixel shooter and a 0.3-megapixel up front, with a variation of ports including micro-USB, mini-USB, and mini HDMI, built on board. We also hear there will be an optional 3G model coming out in Europe along with the basic version somewhere around Q2, for less than $399.

Heading to the second device, he 9.7-inch ViewPad E100, which runs the same android 4.0 OS, tucked with a 1GHz Cortex processor, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, a 1,024 x 768 IPS display, a 9.1mm body, USB, HDMI, and microSD card expansions. Last in the gang, is the Windows 7 ViewPad P100, that offers a 10-inch 1,280 × 800 IPS display,along with a dual-core 1.6GHz Intel Atom N2600 CPU, and duo cameras, on the front and at the back.

Lenovo’s 10.1-inch IdeaPad Tablet P1 Officially Introduced With Windows 7 On Board

You may be thinking that getting a Windows 7 tablet isn’t a good deal considering the iOS and Android alternatives available at the market right now. Well, in that case, think again because a brand new, light-weight tablet, powered by Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system is on its way to the market, the Lenovo IdeaPad Tablet P1. It is equipped with a 10.1-inch shell design, while running a 1.5GHz Intel processor inside, as the screen resolution is at 1280 x 800 and the touchscreen display will utilize capacitive touch technology. Furthermore, it arrives with 2GB of DDR2 memory, as well as 64GB of SSD storage, microSD card reader, USB 2.0 hub, Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G connectivity. In addition, there’s a full stylus pen technology support and a 2-megapixel webcam for video telephony is placed in the front. The two-cell battery delivers up to six hours of continuous work, while colors wise, you get to choose between a dull silver-gray or a vivid Clementine Orange. Both price and availability are yet to be determined.

Dell’s 10-inch Tablets Lineup Gets Detailed

We’ve already seen the Dell tablets roadmap for 2011 – 2012, but the guys over at AndroidCentral seem to have a whole new slide, with more specs and release dates. Apparently, there are three new tablets on stake, one, Latitude ST, running Windows 7 on board, along with Intel’s brand new Oak Trail processor, 1366 x 768 screen resolution, 2GB of RAM, up to a 128GB SSD, dual cameras, an accelerometer, HDMI-out and a removable battery pack which is capable to switch on for up to 8 hours of continuous work. While the other two, Streak Pro and Latitude XT-3, boast a 10-inch and a 13-inch displays, respectively, paired with dual cameras, and Android Honeycomb on top. Regretfully, there is no word on price, but the latest slide indicates the Latitude ST will go live this October, while the Android-powered tablets are claimed to start rolling a bit earlier – The Streak Pro in June and the Latitude XT3, one month later.

ASUS Eee Slate Gets a Whole Bunch of Interactive Ads

Whether you’re an artist, a blogger, a mom or just a business owner, looking to be productive and efficient, the Asus team seems to have a brand new Windows 7 slate to offer. That’s right folks, there is a new player on the field and it plays for all the marbles. With a 12.1-inch display and a Core i5 processor on board the new high-end Eee Slate combines Microsoft’s Windows 7 platform along with Wacom’s digitizer technology and a special dedicated whitish stylus pen to design and execute your very own storyline through drawing and rendering shapes, figures and models. Fujitsu Stylistic Q550 Windows 7 Tablet Now Official

Though we’ve already had a chance to see what Fujitsu’s  Stylistic Q550 Windows 7 tablet might look like, an official announcement from the Japanese corp suggests that the 10.1-inch Oak Trail-powered device will go live tomorrow morning, running Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional edition under the hood, alongside a four-finger multitouch WXGA display, 2GB of RAM, Wireless WAN, optional HSPA module, USB 2.0 hub and 30/64GB of SSD storage at your choice. As mentioned earlier, it is supposed to be available across Europe, starting tomorrow, for a whopping €699 (about $965). Onkyo Tablets Roadmap Unveiled, Teasing Fans With What To Expect

Onkyo may soon be releasing a new line of Android and Windows tablets if a recently roadmap slide is to be taken seriously. The documents, which were officially introduced by the Japanese corp, show three Windows 7 SlatePC tablets, the TW317A5, TW217A5, and TW117A4, which are all going to include an Oak Trail upgrade sometime around June, while their 10-inch siblings – which supposedly carry an Android platform on board –  the Android SlatePad TA117C1 and TA117C3 due later this year, along with a third batch, listing a 7-inch display and an ARM Cortex chip under the lid. Prices are yet to be determined.

MSI Introduces a Win 7 Tablet With an Integrated Projector

If you think you’ve seen it all, think again, because the way it looks we are only at the very beginning, at least as far as tablets world’s concerned. No, seriously, has any of you people ever thought about the idea of adding projectors to your slates? Well, MSI did, and it seems they have been able to put together a demo unit and present it to everyone during the CES show, back in early January. Basically, it’s just the same MSI tablet we’ve already seen before, with a 10-inch display, Intel’s Atom processor and a Windows 7 platform on board. Only this time, with an integrated swivel projector added on top. And while most details are scarce, it is said to include wall screening capabilities, along with rotation features and even some sort of a virtual laser projected keyboard that will work on any surface at your choice. Gigabyte’s S1080 Windows 7 Slate Shows Up in Taiwan

In a bid to steal some thunder, a few companies that opted to unveil some of their products at CES, have chosen to stick with a more solid plan of action and show their stuff a few days after the show. One of them is hardware manufacturer Gigabyte that recently announced its latest S1080 revelation – a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen slate, powered by Intel’s dual core Atom N550 processor and seems patched to work with Microsoft’s Windows 7 platform on board. And while this $699 device appears to be Gigabyte’s first attempt to push a well established tablet into the pond, the list of specifications covered is quite impressive and would definitely pose a threat to other upcoming slabs from all over the world. In that context, we speak about a huge 320GB hard drive, along with an ethernet, SD card slot, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, WiFi connectivity and Bluetooth 3.0 support. Besides that, we’re looking at a VGA display connector (no HDMI?) and a top notch USB 3.0 port. The first shipment is scheduled to leave on February, but in the meantime, you’re all invited to hit the jump and read the full PR note.

Update: And looks like the 3G-enabled 10.1-incher is finally up for a purchase, East side, for a whopping NT$22,900 (about $785). Just a bit higher than a first-gen 3G iPad with 64GB of storage that runs for NT$22,800. It’s a no-brainer scenario for us.

MSI WindPad 100W and 100A Tablets Officially Introduced

We’ve first seen them back in June as the WindPad 100 and 110, and now at CES 2011, they will actually come out as the WindPad 100W and WindPad 100A, as MSI recently announced it. And while there’s really nothing new in terms of design, spec wise there seems to be signs of great improvement (though it still feels a bit sluggish). As said, this is going to be another addition to MSI’s 10-inch portfolio of Windows 7 and Android slates, which due to ship within three months or so. The first model, the WindPad 100W, is said to sport a 1.66GHz Atom Menlow Z530 CPU along with 2GB of RAM, 32GB SSD and Windows 7 OS on board. While the second, which boasts an Android platform under the lid, together with a full Android Market access, packs a ARM Cortex A8 chip, paired with 1GB of RAM, duo webcams, HDMI out, SD card and USB ports. Prices are yet to be announced, but ’till then, hit the jump to watch the video or read the full PR.

Update: It looks like MSI’s 10-inch 100W slate is now being offered on Simply Electronics for a whopping $709.95. That’s way too much for a Windows 7 Starter device, if you’re asking us. Anyway, it’s your call, but you’d probably better wait until mid-February or so.

Fujitsu’s Unnamed Windows 7 Slate To Include Intel Oak Trail CPU Inside (Update: Stylistic Q550)

Fujitsu is no stranger to the world of portable devices. As a matter of fact, the company has already released a few of them during the last few months. The latest one, which doesn’t have an official title yet, is said to arrive with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, powered by a Windows 7 platform along with Intel’s new Oak Trail Atom Z670 processor that is capable in providing low battery consumption for a long period of use. Besides that, the 1.5 pound tablet boasts 2GB of RAM, removal battery pack and a pair of VGA webcams, one on each side. Software wise, the device sports a new breed of layer that Fujitsu skinned atop of the Windows 7 OS, but that’s probably the only thing that the company was willing to share at the moment and frankly, we need to know more before committing our limited financial resources. In any case, availability is expected for Q2 of this year, so stay tuned for plenty more to come.

Update: Now that Fujitsu’s 10-inch mystery tablet is finally making its way out to the market, we’re glad to learn that the Windows 7-powered device was finally given a name – and is now known as the Stylistic Q550. And while we’re still unfamiliar with price and availability details, other specs include this aforementioned Oak Trail processor, along with smartcard slot, front and rear cameras, 32GB / 64GB SSD storage at your choice, USB hub, optional 3G connectivity and fingerprint reader for security log. ASUS Eee Slate EP121 Officially Introduced, Has Core i5 CPU Inside

We’ve all seen the teaser ads and now, the much anticipated Eee Slate EP121 tablet from Asus is finally here. The 12.1-inch wonder that comes with a very impressive 1280 x 800 IPS display and said to include a Wacom digitizer support, will be offered by the Taiwanese giant with a Windows 7 OS on board. Yes, a Microsoft Windows platform for a change. Specs wise, we’re looking at one of the most powerful tablets ever manufactured, with Intel’s Core i5-470UM processor, paired with up to 4GB of RAM, and a 64GB SSD. WOW! in case you’re wondering, the stylus pen which Asus has also included can serve you better when it comes to freehand sketching or simply for taking notes. Wanna make a video conference or pump your HD videos on your flat screen TV? No problem at all. The EP121 comes fully equipped with a front facing camera and a single HDMI port. Sounds great, isn’t it? Absolutely yes, but not if you are broke. To put it into numbers, it’ll actually start at $1,000 for the basic unit, with availability in stores set for later this month. Asus “Eee Slate” EP121 Video Teaser Highlights Windows 7, 12-Inch Display and HD support

CES 2011 is just around the corner, and companies are starting to throw some chum in the proverbial waters. In a new one-and-a-half-minute video that recently showed up across the pond, Asus is teasing us with its most anticipated 12-inch Windows 7-based tablet, which according to officials, is set to take off  in exactly eleven days, at the most famous electronic show around the world. We’re still not sure whether this is the EP121 tablet we’ve already seen earlier this year, or something completely new that the Taiwanese have been working on, behind the scenes, for a couple of months or even more. One way or another, the pictures below clearly indicate that Asus’ next “Eee Slate” device will be packing a Core i5 Intel processor, along with an HDMI output, usb port, an integrated webcam, SD card reader and a Microsoft office package that the laptops-giant is planning to preload on board. Update1: Asus has launched a new teaser for their upcoming Android tablets, the Eee Pad and Eee Slate, with what appears to be a USB 3.0 port, etched into the chassis, along with some sort of a portrait oriented slide-out keyboard panel, accompanied by a batch of Android buttons, stamped onto its top. Update2: And…we have another teaser from Asus. This time we’re talking about time couple of images featuring the company’s upcoming tablets lineup, pictured in all its glory. The first device in that series appears to be the EP121 that presumably boasts some sort of a stylus pen along with a wireless keyboard support. Up next, is the EP102 with that fancy keyboard, attached into a sliding touchscreen, and then we have the EP101 which looks quite similar, only as a netbook form factor. Viliv to Roll Out Two Android-based and One Windows 7-based Tablets at CES 2011

It’s been quite a while since we’ve last heard anything special from Viliv, but with CES 2011 just around the corner in early January, it is rumored to be triple launching a new line of Android/Windows tablets of its own. And while we’re still unfamiliar with pricing or in-depth specs, the header of the following picture, pretty much says it all. In other words, the company will be showing off a couple of Android-based tablets, the X7 and X10, sized at 7-inch and 10.2-inch, respectively, while the third link in that series, the x70, is named by Viliv as the “most slim and light Windows 7 tablet in the world” – Now that’s a one hell of a kick, isn’t it? Regretfully, there’s nothing further to be said at the moment, so stay tuned for a lot  lot more.

Acer To Launch a 10.1-inch Windows 7 Tablet

As if the big Android tablets announcement wasn’t enough, Acer also announced that it would be launching a 10.1-inch Windows 7 device. And while we are still awaiting further details on what this tablet should be packing inside, external outfit will measure 15mm thick and somewhere around the 2.2 pounds. Interestingly, it is said to have an AMD processor on board rather than an Intel Atom CPU or perhaps a Qualcomm Snapdragon one. Surely, it will offer some sort of a docking station to buy, along with dual 1.3MP cameras, WiFi connectivity and a 3G HSDPA WWAN. Stay tuned for plenty more to come.

Upate1: The guys over at DigiTimes are now reporting that Acer  plans to use AMD’s dual-core C-50 Ontario APU inside its next 10.1-inch Windows 7 tablet. The impact of these news on a day-to-day use is actually huge – This will not only improve performance (thanks to the built-in Radeon HD 6250 graohics chip), it will also lower the power consumption dramatically (9W only). That is, of course, if all these mind-changing rumors are true. Stay tuned.

Update2: And looks like Acer’s Windows-powered Iconia W500 tablet is finally up for pre-order for $549, with shipping starting Friday, April 15 and a line of specs that includes a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 touchscreen display, a 1GHz Ontario (C-50) AMD Fusion processor, up to 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, HDMI out, three/six-cell battery at your choice, and an AMD Radeon HD 6250 card for the graphics. Interesting stuff happening within the Microsoft-tablets climate.

LG Launches The E-Note H1000B, a 10.1-Inch Windows 7 Tablet

With all the Galaxy Tab hype going on, there also seems to be a renewed interest in tablets of other types. And when we say “others” we don’t mean just Android-powered devices, but also Windows 7 ones. Same as the 10.1-inch E-Note H1000B tablet that LG has recently launched. Designed specifically for Korean market, this 14.5mm thick slab – we truly hope to see on our side of the map – is said to have Intel’s 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor inside, tucked with 1GB of memory, 16GB of SSD storage, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, a 4-cell battery, dual USB 2.0 ports, and  a single slot for regular SD cards. Price, if you’re asking, is at a whopping 961,000 Korean won, or in other words around 850 bucks.

Onkyo Rolls Out a 3G Windows 7 Tablet In Japan

A couple of months ago we reported that Onkyo is planning to release a new line of windows 7 tablets. Well, today the news finally became official, and as previously reported, the Japanese corp will be launching in-house PC slates, sometime during the week. The first model we get to see in that fancy group, the TW317A7, is likely to feature an 11.6-inch (1366×768) touchscreen, paired with a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 32GB SSD, WiFi, Bluetooth, a 1.3 megapixel camera, two USB 2.0 hubs, stereo speakers, and KDDI 3G connectivity on board. Software wise, Onkyo has tossed its latest ExTOUCH platform to help you out with the multi-touch experience, which frankly, isn’t that good when it comes to Windows 7 platforms. And with no price attached, it doesn’t bode well for those who are looking forward to it, but things could change on a moment’s notice, so please stay tuned.

Dell Inspiron Duo is Officially Official

Well, we knew it was only a matter of days before Dell’s new hybrid machine, the Inspiron Duo, would officially become real. And while the 10.1-inch tablet / netbook device isn’t exactly available for pre-orders yet (Dell says it should probably go live soon), we can finally tell you what’s on it, when it’ll be out, somewhere around the first week of December. Generally speaking, the basic model will run you for $549 (about £450), packing a dual-core Intel Atom N550 processor, along with 2GB of RAM, 250GB of storage, a Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator, and Windows 7 Home Premium for the OS. However, there are plenty of optional extras that can be added to Dell’s ordinary bundle, such as the JBL speaker dock, that will definitely upgrade your day-to-day experience and make it, in our humble opinion, a lot more comfortable. But it would cost you a lot, a hundred bucks more. So there you have it – make it yours or let it go – it’s your freedom of choice.

Update: And looks like the 10.1-inch Dell Inspiron Duo tablet / netbook hybrid is finally up at Dell‘s online store and available for purchase, starting at $549 for the base mode, which packs (as you already know) a dual-core Atom N550 processor, together with Windows 7 Home Premium for the OS, 2GB of RAM and plenty of other goodies on board. Viewsonic Rolls Out New 7 and 10 Inch Viewpad Tablets Stateside

Viewsonic has made a bold move to dethrone Apple’s iPad in the US market. The Taiwanese company announced late yesterday it would launch two new Viewpad tablets – that will maintain the Viewsonic logo – sometime between November of this year and the first quarter of 2011. And while first model in that new series, the Viewsonic 7, is claimed to run the Android 2.2 platform, preloaded with Google apps and full access to Google’s Market, the second, Viewsonic 10, will boast Microsoft’s Windows 7 Home Premium OS along with a 1.66GHz Atom processor, 16GB SSD, and 1GB of RAM on board. The latter has a 10-inch capacitive display and is expected to retail for $629 while the smaller one, which runs for $479, will likely house a 7-inch touchscreen, paired with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, dual cameras (rear and front), and 3G connectivity support. Update1: Oh look, isn’t it the new ViewPad 7 tablet? YES. And looks like it’s already up on sale at Amazon.com, priced a little more than we’ve expected – $599(!). Is that for real or another one of those ‘let the early adopters pay the price and then we’ll make it cheaper?’

Available in Lime Green, Lavender Purple, Candy Pink and Hawaii Blue flavors, this dual booting system which offers both Windows 7 and Android 2.1 platforms preloaded on board, is now being marketed in Europe with Atom N450 processor, GMA 3150 GPU, 250GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth, 2GB of RAM and a six cell battery for £249.99 ($397) and not a single dime or penny more. Fujitsu’s Windows 7 Tablet Prototype Spotted at CEATEC 2010

Though still only in the prototype stages, Fujitsu’s Windows 7 tablet looks brilliant, but rumor has it that it won’t be coming out for the next couple of months. And while details remain scarce, and screen is just a fake printed glossy sticker, all that is left to do is keep our fingers crossed and hope hope and hope.

Update: A batch of new photos indicate that Fujitsu’s upcoming tablet will probably boast WiFi, Bluetooth, one single HDMI output and 3 x USB ports. Up front, there’s some sort of a “Home” button, while top right corner is seemingly boasting this wireless “on/off” switch, along a finger prints recognition system and a “rotation lock”. Stay tuned

Onkyo To Release Three Windows 7 Slates

OH! What’s this, another Windows 7 slate? Apparently yes – not one, but three different flavors. The manufacturing company in this case is Onkyo, and the hardware that’s being offered is pretty much the same across the entire line of new Japanese tablets. Screen sizes are at 11.6-inch and 10.1-inch, both featuring capacitive touchscreen displays, and while the TW317A5 and TW217A5 versions get 32GB SSD, the TW117A4 goes traditionally with a 160GB HDD of storage. The software, as mentioned earlier, is a Windows 7 Premium and the inner chipset on board appears to be an Intel atom N450 processor. Pricing and availability details are still not available, but you can be sure that we’ll let you know as soon as we do.

HP Slate Prototype Running Windows 7 OS Spotted In The Wild

It’s not that we haven’t seen it before, it just seems to be on the rebound and perhaps in a more tangible shot. And whether it’s the real upcoming Windows 7-powered  8.9-inch HP slate or not, it still boasts a very responsive touchscreen display and a smooth flash support. Hardware appears to remain pretty much the same and a detailed hands-on video is just behind the bottom spot.

Upgrade: Looks like x313xkillax, the guy who made the first hands-on preview (attached after the break) is back with yet another video (this time even more detailed) that is comprehensively displaying the alleged HP slate. Basically, according to his second video, we’re looking at a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 tablet which boasts an 8.9-inch WSVGA touchscreen along with a Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video accelerator, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 60GB of storage, SD card reader, 802.11b/g/n WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, two different webcams (3mp rear and 1.3mp up front) and a 2-Cell 30WHr Lithium-ion battery pack. As mentioned, Windows 7 Home Premium is running the entire operation on board and the tablet itself features a nice docking station and while browsing, even a pinch-to-zoom support. Dell’s 10.1-Inch Inspiron Duo Netbook / Tablet Hybrid Introduced

It’s day two at Intel’s IDF 2010 summit and it’s finally heating up, literally and metaphorically, as Dell officially announces a neat 10.1-inch swiveling netbook / tablet hybrid machine, running Windows 7 Premium for the OS and boasting Intel’s dual-core Atom N550 processor under the lid. Sure, we’ve already seen these kind of prototypes in the past (Lenovo anyone?), but nothing that could really make us satisfied like Dell’s new Inspiron Duo device. Unfortunately, we’re still in the very early stages so nothing juicy to share – that means you’ll have to wait for a while in order to get price, availability details and other interesting specs – but hey, you can always hit the jump and check this fresh jkkmobile video that will give you a good sense of style, before you take or decide not to take any further steps.

HP Slate 500 Spotted Online With Windows 7 Onboard

Oh what’s this? You may be consciously thinking that HP has already buried the idea of having a Windows 7 powered tablet released to the pond, right?  – but it didn’t – at least according to some official HP and Energy Star pages, recently surfaced and luckily tracked down by the good IDG News people. What’s in there? Not much besides some interesting details about an HP 500 slate which presumably runs a Windows 7 Premium OS inside, tucked with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, two cameras and a batch of extensions we already know. So where’s the promised WebOS, you may ask? We’re not sure at this point but clearly, the US giant is literally working on something these days, we think, actually we’re positive. anyway, stay tuned.

Update1: HP has officially confirmed that it’s still working on some brand new tablet products. A spokesperson from the Personal Systems group told Engadget that they’re “in customer evaluations now and will make a determination soon on the next steps.” Dear HP, we’re really looking forward to getting this into our hands and seeing what you’re going to build.

Update2: According to Todd Bradley, EVP, Personal Systems Group, for HP it seem that Windows 7 slates will officially make a debut somewhere “this fall”, targeting the enterprise markets rather than consumer pockets, as we initially thought. Regretfully, at this point, there’s no word about when or where HP’s most anticipated WebOS slates will actually go live.

Update3: Now it’s official, HP confirms a webOS tablet for ‘early 2011’. According to HP’s Todd Bradley “You’ll see us with a Microsoft product out in the near future and a webOS-based product in early 2011.”

ASUS 10-inch EPad Tablet Surfaces in Computex 2010

Asus is really getting us confused. It wasn’t so long ago when we wrote a post, reporting about the new EEE tablets lineup the company is expected to launch shortly, with new models like 12-inch Eee Pad EP121 and the 10-inch Eee Pad EP101TC. So far so good, right? Wrong! Because the guys at jkkmobile have just spotted (in Computex 2010) yet another model which suspiciously looks pretty similar to the EP101TC, this time carrying an “EPad” title written on a placard, up front. Now, whether it’s the same tablet or not, this “new” revelation houses a 10-inch capacitive display, running Windows 7 for the OS and probably, just probably NVIDIA Tegra 2 under the coat. The CPU is clearly from Intel, however we can’t be sure what other internal parts this bad boy will boast. For the meantime, make sure you check out the hands-on video after the jump.

LG UX10 tablet Makes First Appearance at Computex 2010

Details scarce at the moment, but this is definitely an exciting time to join the tablets parade, and LG is one of the many companies that currently seek to do so. Need a proof? Check out its latest LG UX10, which undoubtedly belong to this burgeoning category, with that 10.1-inch LED capacitive touchscreen (not very responsive at the moment), featuring an Intel Atom Z530 processor under the lid, tucked with 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, an SD card slot, a micro-HDMI output, 1.3mp camera and Windows 7 Home Premium for the OS – yes, it runs a Microsoft platform inside. Price and availability are yet to be determined, but a short hands-on video is right after the break.

MSI WindPad 100 And 110 Spoted Live n Kickin’ at Computex 2010

It’s been a long time since we’ve last seen a real MSI tablet in action, but that (as a fact) doesn’t necessarily mean the Chinese corp has stopped manufacturing. On the contrary, it has just introduced two of its brand new 10-inch tablets at the Computex show in Taipei. The first model, WindPad 110, is powered by an Android 2.1 OS, and seems to be capable of handling high-def content pretty well, thanks to NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processor on board. The touchscreen is capacitive and very responsive if you wondered, and the chassis itself includes a USB port and video output as well. The tablet will sell for $399 by the end of this year.

Heading to the second version, the WindPad 100 (which we’ve already seen a while ago), this one runs a Windows 7 Premium platform, while specs wise, it packs a 1.66GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, paired with 2GB of RAM, 32GB SSD, two USB ports, an HDMI output, built-in webcam and finally, a special Wind Touch UI which MSI has literally stuffed on top of Microsoft’s coat. The WinPad 100 is set for release later this year for about $499 – hundred dollars more.

Update: Now official. Prices are at $399 for the U110 and $499 for the U100. Availability is yet to be determined.

ASUS 12-inch and 10-Inch Eee Pads Now Official, Win 7 And Intel CULV CPU Onboard (Update: Eee Pad EP101TC)

We have previously reported a rumor about a future Asus Eee Pad devices, and today the rumor starts floating again, apparently becomes official. Basically, there seem to be at least two different models of this coming slate – a 12-inch tablet (AKA: EP121), boasting Intel’s Core 2 Duo CULV processors and running a Windows 7 platform for the OS, that is paired with a 10-hour battery pack, one integrated USB 2.0 hub and built-in webcam, while second version, the EP101TC, is a 10-inch capacitive tablet running Windows Embedded Compact 7 platform for the OS and some sort of a Tegra chipset for graphics handling. Both versions are said to have optional docking cradle for keyboard use with Q1, 2011 as a target release and prices ranged between $399 to $499 at most. Update: Word on the street is that Asus has apparently ditched the idea of having a Windows Embedded Compact 7 OS onboard in favor of Google’s Android platform – either Froyo or Gingerbread (Android 3.0), we still don’t know. As a matter of fact, it appears that the Taiwanese company is currently working on few updated prototypes that should eventually run Mountain View’s operating system onboard, whenever out, next year, at Computex 2011.

Jumper’s 10.1-inch JK01-TT Tablet Is Dancing In The iPad’s Playground

Here’s a question: what looks like an iPad, feels like an iPad, but isn’t an iPad? Jumper’s JK01-TT tablet, obviously. Well, obvious should be put in the right context here, as most of the components in this 10.1 touchscreen device are most likely taken from the overcrowded netbooks world. And therefore, for a whopping $671, you may think you’re buying an ultra portable laptop while in practice it’s actually a tablet, that packs an Intel Atom N450 processor paired with 2GB RAM, Intel’s Atom N450 processor, 250GB SATA HDD, 2mp webcam, 4-in-1 card reader, 3 x USB ports, WiFi, 3G connectivity, an HDMI output and finally, Windows 7 for the OS command – impressive, but still expensive to buy. HP Slate Details Leaked, Packs Atom Z530 CPU, Two Cameras, SDHC Expansion, USB and SIM Card Slots

There you go fellow geeks – see, it didn’t take long for all those juicy HP slate details to come out…eventually. This miraculous internal memo, you see down here, apparently explains it all – if true! – and it does look reliable, isn’t it? If so, then what we’ve got here is a head-to-head confrontation between two tech giants, HP from one side and Apple on the other. From Cupertino’s side, it’s the iPad contender, which according to this document that handed over to engadget, appears to threat HP in few different points: 1) screen resolution that stands at 1024×768, compared to the 1024×600 pixels you suppose to find on HP’s coming slate. 2) WiFi connection speed which shows faster 802.11 n-draft component inside the iPad while only “g” standard on the slate. 3) Battery wise, the iPad claims to deliver (and confirmed) up to 10 hours of working time, while HP slate is said to produce up to 5 hours of use. 4) iPad Starting price stands at $499 for the 16GB model, while HP’s handy-dandy counter slate, starts at $549, but with 32GB of storage inside.

That been said, the chart itself unveils not only potential weaknesses, but also some very significant advantages in favor of HP’s future device, amongst you’ll find: A) Stylus Pen support.  B) A 1.6GHz clock speed on Intel’s Atom Z530 processor, compared to Apple’s 1GHz A4 CPU “only”. C) Graphics accelerator with 1080P video support against Apple’s undisclosed chipset. D) The existence of an SDHC slot, which comes VERY handy when looking for an easy way to throw your photos in. The iPad, on the other hand, doesn’t have one at all. E) A USB 2.0 port available on Palo Alto’s machine, but absent from the iPad F) Two cameras (VGA on front and 3MP at the back) which let you either take pictures/videos(?) with the Slate, or even better, conduct Skype chats on-the-go. Needless to say, NO cameras on the iPad G) HP’s Dock connector crams USB and HDMI out while Apple’s dock has nothing but a power cord.

Other than that, bare in mind the Apple tablet comes with a 9.7-inch multi-touch display, against HP’s 8.9-inch multi-touch Slate (both to include accelerometers). As for Software, the iPad runs iPhone OS 3.2 while HP’s Slate comprises a Windows 7 platform. And last but not least, Apple iPad’s 64GB version seems a lot more costier than HP’s same size rival – $699 against $599, respectively.

So there you go guys, this is it, HP versus Apple, iPad versus Slate – one has already been released and is doing pretty well, while another, based on rumors, apparently has two more months to go. So stay tuned ladies and gentleman, because the battle of the titans has started!

Update: Looks like the guys at Conecti.ca were lucky enough to have their hands on HP’s soon-to-be-launched slate prototype, and they don’t really seem to point out good points at this stage, rather than saying that “The official verdict is meh” – whatever that means. Apparently, the fact that HP was trying to import a netbook UI into a portable slate device wasn’t doing good to the speed of the platform and the way it works. The first impression they had was that it’s too “slow and annoying.” Still, the HDMI dock attached to the slate made positive impressions. Real images after the break.

HP’s Slate Rumored To Be Launched In June at €400 Powered By Intel’s Atom Chipset

If  Spanish Clipset‘s words should be taken at face value, HP’s most anticipated 7-inch slate wonder may finally get the official announcement  we’ve all been waiting for somewhere this June, while retail presence should start “before September” . That said, we should all proceed with caution when it comes to rumors, Right? Nevertheless, it is said to include Intel’s Atom processor inside, along several USB ports (you hear that Apple?), a card reader slot extension, a built-in back-mounted webcam and even…a flash support – all priced VERY competitively, at €400 (or $545) – but this remains to be officially determined in the following months. Samsung’s Go N315 Netbook To Get a Pine Trail Flavor

Samsung has already managed to catch our attention a year ago when first released its slick and lavish netbooks lineup, known as the Go series. But things, as you may know, change pretty fast these days and technology that appeared to be new and updated back then is no longer relevant. And going into the nitty gritty things, last year it was the Atom N270 that has shined and today it’s the Pine Trail flavor (AKA: Atom N450) that rise, and Samsung wise, we have the Go N315 machine that was recently released with no surprise. Price is at $429 which makes it a bit expensive if you want us to categorize, but still packs the latest specs and components we expected it would comprise. That includes the Atom N450 CPU, 1GB of RAM, Windows 7 Starter and Intel’s GMA 1350 graphics, that plays HD videos smooth at any size.

Sony Vaio M Netbook Series Pops Up In The Wild

Well, this one came out of the blue with no official announcement, but a fairly reasonable cause. It’s Sony’s latest M series netbook which suppose to replace the Vaio W series with more updated specs but pretty much the same feel and looks. From what we know so far (and there’s not much to say), It would boast a 10.1 1024×600 16:10 LED display, jammed with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM, 250GB hard drive, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, a built-in webcam and Intel’s new GMA 3150 graphics accelerator. As of today, there’s still no word about price or availability, but hey – we promise to deliver, once they get to our hands.

Update1: Netbooknews says it would run for $349 euros either in Black or Silver flavors. In addition, it suppose to include Windows 7 Starter and a 6 cell battery pack onboard.

Update2: The Vaio M is all set for a European April launch, with UK prices starting at £300 (around $455) for basic specs, mentioned above.

Update3: Did we say set and ready? It’s now official, the Vaio M that is. Similar specs and same prices as noted before.

Hanvon BC10C and BA10E TouchPad Tablets Abruptly Emerge at CeBIT

Details scarce at this point, but a company called Hanvon just rolled out two impressive tablet machines, BC10C and BA10E, both under the suspiciously familiar brand – ‘TouchPad’ (you hear that Apple?!?). And while these two share this nice 10.1-inch capacitive multitouch display and Windows 7 Home Premium on top, there are some slight differences between them that worth to be mentioned and note. Starting with the BA10E model, it runs a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor inside, paired with 1GB of RAM, 120GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth, a 1.3mp camera and a mediocre Intel GMA 500 graphics card. Mind you that specs clearly indicate a Windows XP system while in demo itself the tablet was operating under a touch-friendly Windows 7 OS. The second, BC10C has a 1.3GHz Intel Celeron ULV743 CPU, tucked with 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 2mp camera –  which make it more strong. The company says that prices should be somewhere between 500 – 600 Euros, but we still don’t have any confirmation about release dates or any official pre-orders call. Update1: The the BC10C launches in China March 25th, for $877, but ’till then, Jkkmobile has just released their Hanvon’s hands-on video, and they seemed very impressed with the results, so check it out as well, after the break.

Update3: According to jkkmobile, Hanvon’s TouchPad B10 release has been rescheduled again, this time towards the end of May, if you’re a Chinese buyer, and somewhere around June for the rest of the Western world. Prices remain with no change though, standing at $877.

Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Series Announced, Due Out This Holidays Season

It’s hot at the Mobile World Congress 2010, in Barcelona, as Microsoft officially unveils its latest and probably biggest Windows Phone 7 series, a new and pretentious Windows Mobile rendition, identical to all carriers and future device brands, with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon architecture onboard, handling smoothly the featured (unsized) capacitive touchscreens, built into those dev demo prototype phones. Basically, it’s a a whole new mobile system Redmond has literally built from the scratch and tweaked to be used on mobile machines in a way that you’ve never seen before. True, it would likely take time to get used to the 7 series, but its harmonic look and feel is surprisingly refreshing and conveniently flows. Yes, if you had this “deja vu” feeling of a Zune HD interface control, you’re probably not alone, but Microsoft has taken it few steps forward and created more in-depth platform with many new features like Xbox Live integration, social networking interaction, myriad of apps and widgets installed. “Every Windows series phone will be a Zune”, that’s what we’ve been told, and synchronizing your handheld  music with PC computers is claimed to be very easy and simple to work.

The home screen itself includes dynamic vertical tiles, with customizable shortcut links to variant apps, contacts and other in-house modes, designed in a way you can flip them down from head to toe, but also pan left and right to sub-directories and other hidden rows. It boasts that same big and bold Zune HD  text style, which relatively changes and gets magnified the moment you slide the screen and start to scroll. And navigating between the menus makes you realize that Microsoft completely revamped the OS code, making it concentrate in four major segments: People, Games, Pictures, Music plus Video hub homes. Each hub is an independent unit that’s responsible for different tasks, where you can watch and share your personal stuff (images/videos) via hub or cloud,when it comes to ‘pictures’ window, or in other case connect with friends and get updates from family/other contacts through social media services in the ‘People’ spot and the most fascinating thing – play Xbox LIVE games, create avatars, and profiles, at the ‘Games’ area zone – Cool. At the end of the day it’s a new platform that suppose to serve our next-gen phones, so naturally it would also include a non-supportive Adobe flash Internet Exploder browser and Outlook email app to handle mails on the go. Oh, and don’t forget, there’s a dialing phone somewhere inside.

Hardware wise, Microsoft mobile phones will include 3 buttons each: Start, Search and Back, while capacitive displays will have 4-points multi-touch compatibility, with flipping, panning and pinch to zoom gestures support. As mentioned, Microsoft has partnered with Qualcomm, which means we’re likely to see Arm Snapdragon chipset, tossed inside the bowel.

Microsoft as you may know, teamed up with worldwide carriers like AT&T, Deutsche Telekom AG, Orange, SFR, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telstra, T-Mobile USA, Verizon Wireless and Vodafone, while manufacturers partnerships include Dell, Garmin-Asus, HTC, HP, LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and Qualcomm.

It would probably take time to realize whether Windows 7 series is a game changer or not, but we’re glad to see that Microsoft is finally raising the mobile OS bar and placing it in a whole new and distinguished level that would likely make many people across this realm start scratching their heads and rearrange their thoughts. When will this crazy and exciting software go out and hit the roads? I guess you’ll have to be patient here and wait ’till it gets to the market somewhere around the end of the year, right next to holidays madness season days.

HP's Slate Tablet Is In The House Preloaded With Windows 7 Onboard

Ladies and gentlemen, this is it! HP’s long awaited tablet officially announced. It actually came up during Steve Ballmer’s CES keynote event and immediately became “hot”, but this way or another, it’s way too early and we’re still missing a lot. And even though this is just a prototype slate and we are few months away from seeing it out, we’re more than sure this cool multi-touch gadget is something ‘ya all would probably want. It runs Windows 7 to handle it and a Kindle reader software, but as we’ve seen from Microsoft’s CEO, you can even play with it Frogger. There’s more of it few scrolls after, including a mysterious video teaser and an image of Ballmer. Stay tuned.

Malata's R108T Windows7 Tablet Netbook Gets Introduced In Various Tints

Although we’ve only chosen to put the reddish color in this post, Malata’s new R108T tablet netbook offers couple hues more. But either it’s the Ferrari Red, Piano Black, Coffee, Gold or Champagne flavor  – they’re all comprised of the same specs – which technically sport a 10-inch 1024×600 LED backlit display, along with a 160GB HDD, 1GB od RAM, a 1.3 megapixels webcam and Atom N270 processor. The rest, pretty much goes as usual with SD card slot, WiFi, ethernet and 2 USB ports, to hook your stuff wherever you go. Windows 7 is also bundled in that resistive convertible touchscreen device, as price is merely at $435 and availability is yet to be determined.

eviGroup's 10-Inch Pad Tablet Announced, Personal Assistant Included

We barely find these days portable media devices that get released with an artificial intelligence software, which can practically serve as your day by day personal assistant. However, we do see a lot of Internet and tablet machines, being launched on a daily bases, across the globe. One of those hybrid units that bravely combines all of the above, and stuffs them into a one tiny “piano-finish” frame, is eviGroup’s 10.2-inch Pad Tablet, that boasts (besides this 1024 x 600 display) a WiFi connectivity together with 3G WWAN, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, three USB ports, a 1.3MP webcam, a built-in microphone, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard-drive to keep your files inside. The system that operates this entire platform is Microsoft’s Windows 7, which comes preloaded with the optional Seline10 robotic creature that basically activates everything you do, either it’s text, handwriting, interface navigation and even voice controls. Seline seems to easily recognize your different moves, and technically transform them into actions. Regretfully, the company hasn’t yet unleashed any preview videos to demonstrate this ten years technology development working in practice. Nevertheless, collecting just under €500 ($745) out of your savings, will get you one, whenever it comes around.

Asus Debuts With 1005HE-WS And 1005HE-WS, New Windows 7 Starter Eee PC Netbooks

We knew it was just a matter of time until netbooks would eventually show up with Windows 7 bundled inside, and now that Microsoft’s superb operating system is officially up – looks like Redmond’s moment of truth has finally come. The new Seashell style models the Taiwanese actively plan for a mid-November launch are the 1005HR-WS and 1005HE-WS, which both include a 10.1-inch display, along with an Atom N280 processor, 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, a 0.3MP webcam and a 6-cell battery with up to 8.4 hours of working life. However, while the 1005HR-WS packs a WXGA platform (1366 x 768 resolution) and 250GB hard drive storage, its fellow, the 1005HE-WS, boasts a WSVGA flavor (whatever that means) and either 250GB HDD or 160GB HDD, to pick at your choice. Japan prices mention ¥49,800 ($545) for the “HR” edition, as “HE” buns will run for ¥46,800 ($510) or ¥44,800 ($490), depends on size.

TabletKiosk storms into the tablets market with a new 12.1-inch tablet pc device which apparently boasts the desert-like name, Sahara NetSlate a230T, and seems to have Intel’s Atom N270 processor along with some other cool specs that include either a mandatory 120GB hard drive or the optional SSD flavor, 1GB of RAM (upgradable to 2.0 GB), Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Dual-Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity, an optional 3G/3.G WWAN Module, and design wise, a sleeky rounded-edges frame, housing two stereo speakers on both sides. Display, as mentioned, sized at 12.1-inch and sports a multi-touch screen experience, in case you’re using the embedded Windows XP OS, although the company will also provide some other alternatives on top of that, like openSUSE Linux version or Microsoft’s Windows Vista OS, which practically grants users a free copy of Windows 7, the moment the platform comes out . At that end, the a230T tablet machine is now listed on TableKiosk’s online shop, ready to be shipped right away – but before getting one, talk with your banker, it’s $1395 for the entry level model.

UMID's M2 Mini Netbook Device Sprouts Out Loud With Windows 7 Inside

Korean company UMID didn’t have much of a success when first launched its 4.8-inches M1 mini netbook version, a few months ago. But now, after finally fixing up some of the main issues that turned its first round somehow repelled, a new edition, which carries the name “M2” has risen up from the dark, and is now ready to be rolled out somewhere towards the end of the year, for a much cheaper price of $499 (instead of $765). First thing you’ll notice is the screen, that apparently flips out and turns widely open on the M2 (thanks to the new hinge), compared to its very angle-limited predecessor. This fact will help new M2 users hold the unit comfortably in their hands and type the keyboard in a more convenient way than previously done. Other thing you might be noticing, is the real USB port that was hooked to UMID’s M2 revamped chassis, which doesn’t necessarily require any dongles to connect. Besides that, the company has also integrated an optical mouse, that seats on front of the M2 bezel frame, while both left-right buttons were placed to the left. As for internal specs, you get to choose between 1.2 or 1.6GHz Intel Atom processors, which will presumably operate under the much expected Windows 7 OS and a larger 1GB of RAM. Other than that, UMID will probably stick to most of the parts, included in M1, but that’s for us to find out in the coming months. Update: Turns out UMID M2 is now known as Onkyo BX, but besides the re-branding process nothing substantial has really changed. It still has that Intel 1.2GHz Atom Z515 processor, along a 4.8-inch 1024 x 600 LCD, a 32GB SSD and 512MB of memory. Design remains the same as well, so does the price – ¥64,800, or $730. Archos To Introduce The Archos 9 Windows 7 Powered Tablet PC

While technology world is at its first steps getting into the portable touchscreen era, French corporation Archos was always there first to come out with the most advanced and sophisticated media devices around, and as of now, it seems the company had done it again with yesterday’s interesting announcement of the Archos 9 Windows 7 tablet PC, which is literally a 16mm thick / 800gm of portable netbook device, made in the form of tablet unit that boasts an 8.9-inch 1024 x 600 touchscreen, along with Intel’s Atom Z515 processor, up to 120GB of storage capacity, 802.11b/g WiFi connection, built-in Bluetooth 2.1 antenna, integrated 1.3MP webcam, 10/100 Ethernet port, two stereo speakers, a microphone and even an optional 3.5G HSUPA WWAN support. Official release is scheduled for somewhere around September this year, while prices start at 450 Euros ($630) for basic version and up to 500 Euros ($705) for the premium models. Update1: Looks like UK fanboys will be able to nab the Archos 9, either with 80GB or 160GB capacities, for 449.99 Euros ($735) and 499.99 Euros ($815), respectively. Still no word from the French about official release dates, but we’re following.

Updatte2: And word just came in, the Archos 9 tablet is said to be released in October 22nd, concurrently with Windows 7, starting at $499.

Update3: Looks like Archos 9 is finally up for a pre-order. With an 8.9-inches display on top and Windows 7 Starter onboard, this $549.99 tablet machine is one awesome portable device that will let you exult and rock.

Update4: We’ve added another Archos 9 image, this time dissected, courtesy of the US FCC that has torn it apart before approving the North American debut.

Update5: Despite previous announcements, it looks like Archos 9 tablet PC is now due for release somewhere around the first quarter of 2010, instead of mid October 2009. We’re not sure what are the reasons for this delay, but guess you will have to take it for granted.

Update6: The good guys at UMPCPortal were lucky to get the Archos 9, a month before official debut, preloaded with a 60GB hard drive and Intel’s 1.1GHz Atom processor inside. Too bad it runs the Windows 7 starter edition which lacks those nifty tablet features you can use in the Premium and Ultimate versions. Nevertheless, checkout their unboxing video after the break.

Microsoft To Release Recommended Windows 7 Specs For Netbooks

Already got yourself a new portable netbook device? Having  some thoughts about installing Windows 7 on it? Maybe you should hear  Redmond’s supportive opinion first, before replacing your already-existing XP version. According to Microsoft,  “small notebook” owners (netbook s) should be able to maximize their Windows 7 usability, once having a 10.2-inch display, together with 1GB of RAM, 250GB hard drive or 64GB SSD configuration inside their netbooks. Additionally, max specs should also include a single-core processor under 2GHz clock with no limitation at the “Touch” and “Graphics” spectrum . Mind you, these are maximum stats , so no one should really bother too much,  as most machines support those requirements out-of-the -box.  Nevertheless, working with Windows 7 for quite some time has brought us into the conclusion it’d be best getting at least 64GB hard drive before begining this new adventure.
