Toshiba’s New Excite X10 Claims To Be World’s Thinnest Android Tablet

Toshiba has officially announced a new sleek 10.1-inch tablet which sports a 1280 x 800  Gorilla Glass IPS touchscreen and said to be the world’s thinnest tablet in the market, to date, with a .3-inch thick and only 1.2-pound in weight. The new slate that goes by the name “Excite X10” is planned to include  a 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 processor under the lid, along with 1GB of RAM, Android 3.2 for the Os (ready for an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade), WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a microUSB, microHDMI, GPS support and microSD card slot. The way it looks, there are two cameras, one 5 megapixel camera in the back of the tablet, and a 1.3 megapixel camera in the front. Your choices among the Excite offerings are the 16GB that will run $529.99 while the 32GB version will retail for $599. Acer To Launch Iconia Tab A200 In North America For $330

Acer has just confirmed that it’ll be releasing Iconia Tab A200 Stateside, on January 15th, for merely $330. The 10-inch Android Honeycomb tablet which runs NVIDIA’s dual-core Tegra 2 SoC inside, along with a 1280 x 800 display, 8GB of internal storage (16GB version is $20 more), a 2MP front-facing camera and a built-in microSD card slot, is said to include a battery with up to eight hours of work time, and a full-sized USB 2.0 port, to shift your files from one place to another. In addition, we hear that Acer is said to be working on an Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) update that will go live somewhere around mid-February of 2012, but ’till then you can click the jump to read even more about it.

ASUS Eee Memo Pad Unofficially Leaked (Update: Now Official)

CES is always a good time to prepare a roll-out strategy for brand new products around the world. And while there’s no official word from Asus yet, we hear that the company plans to launch its own 7-inch Eee Memo Pad tablet, at the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow which will take place in Vegas from January 10th to January 13th, 2012. A firm release date has not been set, but judging from a recent leak, we do know it  will be available with a 1,280 x 800 capacitive touchscreen display, a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, WiFi, 3G connectivity and 16, 32 or 64GB of storage capacities at your choice. The full details are yet to be disclosed, and all that’s left is for you to decide which configuration suits you best and which package will you get: this one or the Eee Pad Transformer Prime. Tough decisions!

Update: As it turns out, Asus is planning to offer TWO new Memo Pad devices and not just one as we had earlier thought. The first, the Eee Pad MeMO (ME171) that we’ve already seen before, packs a 7-inch WXGA 1,280 x 800 IPS capacitive touchscreen, along with  a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm 8260 processor, 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR,  a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera plus 5 megapixel rear camera, GPS, gyroscope, proximity sensor, 16GB / 32GB of storage capacities, and  a micro-USB port. The 4,400mAh Li-polymer battery inside will be able to deliver up 8.5 hours of video time, on average, powered by the latest Android 4.0.1 Os running atop. General availability is scheduled for Q2 2012 in the U.S.

The second device, the  ME370T – A 7-inch  quad-core tablet, powered by a Tegra 3 chip, is likely to run an Android Ice Cream Sandwich under the hood, paired with a WiFi-only connectivity an 8 megapixel camera behind its back and some other goodies that you’ll just have to wait patiently for them a few weeks more. Archos To Release 70b Honeycomb Tablet in January 2012

It’s getting harder and harder to follow Archos these days. On the tablets front, at least. The company seems to be doing pretty well, bringing new variety of products into the market every month or so. Their latest in this area, that will certainly compete in the mid-range space, is the 70b Honeycomb tablet that will hit U.S retail shelves somewhere this coming January for $199, and reportedly will include a 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, WiFi, HDMI out, a microSD slot and a powerful 1.2 GHz processor. There are plans for a direct Android Market access if you’re wondering, and we’re probably going to see a lot more of it at CES 2012. Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime Goes Live in Early December With a Quad-Core Tegra 3 Processor On Board

Asus is upgrading its Eee Pad Transformer Android tablet lineup, launching the Transformer Prime, a 10.1-inch Super IPS plus slate with the first Nvidia quad-core Tegra 3 CPU running on board. This powerful device, which packs the latest and greatest technology available on market at the moment, comes with a stunning 1280 x 800 10-inch IPS screen that claims for 178-degree viewing angles and Gorilla Glass cover on top. In addition, it has an 8.3mm-thick body that houses 1GB of RAM, a GPS navigation module, SonicMaster audio system, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the OS (update), and a 1.2 MP front-facing camera, paired with an 8MP lens, sitting on its back. The rear one can auto-focus at f/2.4, and is powered by a back-illuminated CMOS sensor that allows you to capture up to 1080p video frames. Motorola Xoom 2 Due Out in Europe Later This Year (Update: Now Official)

Oh look! There’s the Motorola Xoom 2, and it seems it’s now only couple of weeks away from landing on European store shelves. At least according to a recent Carphone Warehous flyer ad. And while most details are scarce, the second-gen Xoom tablet is said to include an 8.2-inch touchscreen, along with 16GB of internal storage, and Android 3.2 Honeycomb for the OS (any chance for Android’s Ice cream Sandwich platform?). Ireland is the first country to enjoy this system among the English-speaking countries, while the U.S and the rest of the world will probably follow few days later on, with prices starting at  €399.90 (about $545) for the WiFi-only flavor. Update1: Xoom 2 is now official. Motorola has just unveiled it with a choice of either a 10.1-inch touchscreen device or an 8.2-inch Media Edition flavor, while both versions contain the same suite of specs, including a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a  1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and 5 megapixel on the back, Gorilla Glass displays on top and Ice Cream Sandwich update running under the hood (confirmed!). As already mentioned, both slates will make their official debut in the UK and Ireland this holidays season while global release is yet to be determined. Kobo’s 7-Inch Android Vox Tablet Goes Live at $200

Good news for those of you looking to grab a really cool Android 2.3 tablet at the $200 range. Thanks to global eReading company Kobo you can now get this whole new 7-inch Android Gingerbread device, dubbed Vox, just under two Benjamins, with a fine list of technical specs, including a AFFS+ display 1024 x 600 multi-touch screen resolution, 8GB of internal storage and up to 32GB via SD card, 512MB of RAM, an 800 MHz processor, integrated speakers, and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi connectivity on board. Kobo will also indulge its users with a bunch of pre-loaded apps and there’s a direct access to Google’s Android Market to download even more. As for availability, the Vox will be available Stateside from October 28th of this year and on, featured at at Best Buy and Fry’s Electronics stores. Toshiba To Introduce a 7-inch Android Thrive Tablet

We’ve already seen a 10.-inch Toshiba Thrive version breaking cover in the mids of summer 2011, and now we have an official announcement about a new 7-inch tablet from the company that will allegedly go under the name Thrive 7. Design wise, it does seem to have quite a lot in common with the original ten incher, but in terms of specs there are quite a few changes. For instance, there are no full-sized ports anymore, due to the slim design (you’ll get mini-USB / micro-HDMI jacks and microSD slot), and the operating system is likely to be an Android 3.2 (instead of 3.1). Other than that, we have that same  Tegra 2 chipset, paired with a duo of cameras – 5MP on the back (this time with a LED flash) and another one at 2MP, up front. There’s still no word about pricing, but you’ll be able to nab one either at 16GB or 32GB sometime around Thanksgiving or early December. Hit the jump to read the full announcement.

Sony S and P Tablets Now Officially Official

We have been hearing about Sony’s much-anticipated line of Android tablets ever since it first appeared as a quirky piece of mysterious sketches. And while the Japanese corp has officially announced it back in April, the REAL introduction came just four months later, at the 2011 IFA press event, earlier this week. Basically speaking there are two different tablets in this category: The Sony S (used to be called “S1”) that looks like a squarish curvy tablet device, and the Sony P (previously known as the “S2”), which is more of a clamshell design. Both tablets are running Android Honeycomb inside so in terms of use, the look and feel is very similar, though experience wise it is a whole different story – One has a single 9.4-inch touchscreen, while the other packs dual five-inch 1024 x 480 displays. In addition we’ve been told they are both planned to go out in Europe at the end of September and November, respectively, with prices set at €479 and €599, while a US release is still unconfirmed but strongly suspected within weeks (for $499 and $599).

Drilling Down to the nitty-gritty details, the Sony P, the one with the two 5-inch screens (we know, it’s confusing), is said to include a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 SoC chip, 5MP rear camera plus a VGA on front,  a 3,080mAh battery, an HSPA/radio, 4GB of internal storage, a micro-USB hub, 3.5mm jack and an SD card slot. The dual screens can both work together or in some cases, independently, while the Android 3.2 platform (the powerhouse behind the Sony P) seems to be running smoothly, all over the place, and at all times!

The second device, the Sony S, comes with a traditional tablet design, on first look, but there’s a typical Sony twist out there, when you get to show it off – especially on sides and behind. As mentioned, it boasts a 9.4-inch (1,280 x 800) IPS display with Sony TruBlack Bravia TV technologies, Android Honeycomb OS, 16GB or 32GB of storage capacities at your choice, WiFi,  Bluetooth, and a full-sized SD card slot. There’s also a Terga 2 chipset under the hood, along with a nice volume rocker on the side, and a battery that provides long hours of intense working time.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 Officially Introduced

Samsung has just introduced its latest entry, the Galaxy Tab 7.7. The South Korean giant, which seem to be popping up all over the place at the moment, announced this new Android tablet device with an Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) operating system, running on top of a a 7.7-inch (1280 x 800) Super AMOLED Plus display, featuring Samsung’s TouchWiz UX layer beneath, a powerful dual-core 1.4GHz processor, an HSPA+ radio, a microSD card slot, up to 64GB of storage, 802.11n WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, front and rear 2.0MP/3.0MP cameras and a 5,100mAh battery, providing merely 10 hours of work. And while the line of specs is definitely impressive, we’re still on a hunt for the price and availability of this new, upcoming 0.74-pound and 7.89 mm thin slab. HTC’s 10.1-inch Android Jetstream LTE Tablet Officially Gets The AT&T Treatment

We’re not quite sure why HTC even bothers. With a whopping price of $849 and a specs lineup that includes a 10.1-inch WXGA touchscreen, 1.5GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor, a front 1.3 MP/rear 8MP cameras, Android 3.1 OS and a microSD slot, this all HTC Jetstream tablet, which is AT&T’s first LTE / HSPA+ slate package, seems a bit useless, considering the cheap solutions available on the market nowadays such as Apple’s iPad, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab, HP’s TouchPad and many hundreds more. Not to mention you have to sign up for a two-years contract, but that’s the only part of the story which sounds reasonable to us. If you’re anything like me, you get really excited when you see there’s a new Android player joining the game. I mean it’s not that we haven’t heard about it before, but this time it’s for real, as Vizio officially announces this week it will start selling its latest and greatest 8-inch Android device throughout the States, for a price as low as $299. Archos Introduces a $99 Android tablet

Oh, looky-looky what we’ve got in here – A $99 Android tablet? Now that’s cheap. And more importantly, comes with fairly reasonable parts inside, including a seven-inch (800×480) resistive touchscreen LCD, 4GB of internal flash memory, WiFi, 720p HD playback support, AppsLib store accessibility (instead of Google’s Android Market) and Android Froyo running on board. There’s no word yet on when, exactly, we’re going to see this Archos Arnova 7 available in stores, but hey, you’ve got to give it to the French, for giving a fight and reducing the cost of their tablets.

Toshiba’s Thrive Tablet With Android 3.1 To Make Its US Debut On June 13

Toshiba has just confirmed that its first US tablet, dubbed Thrive, will go live starting June 13th, over at Best Buy retail stores, with prices ranged between $429 for the 8GB version and up to $579 for the 32GB one. Other specs appear to include a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) touchscreen display, along with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, 2 MP front-facing camera, and another at 5MP on the back, a slew of ports such as HDMI, SD card reader, full-sized USB and one single power cord. There’s also a Tegra 2 chip for the graphics and Android 3.1 platform running on board – And they are all crafted into 1.6 pounds of aesthetic plastic which sports a removable battery that delivers up to seven hours of continuous video playback in each and every charge.

Archos 7c Android Tablet Gets a Video Intro (Update: Now Shipping)

Oh! What’s this? Looks like Archos is about to roll out yet another 7-inch Android device. At least that’s what the guys over at ARMdevices are saying, after taking a tour of the company’s Chinese compound and tackling with the forthcoming multi-touchscreen 7c tablet for a few hours. And while the 7-inch Active matrix Capacitive display that Archos has added on top of the slate is pure joy, the screen resolution (800 x 480), on the other hand,  isn’t exactly the type we were looking for. Other than that, there’s a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor under the hood, paired with a RK2918 chipset, a built-in Speaker, microSD card slot, WiFi, one USB hub, a recharchable battery pack and Android 2.3 (Gingerbreard) running on board. Prices are said to be at affordable range – under $200 – while the official release date (in Europe and the US) will be somewhere in June, we guess. Update: And looks like the Archos 7c Home Tablet is now ready for shipping across the US, packing that 7-inch capacitive display, alongside a Cortex A8 processor, 8GB of flash storage, built-in speakers, wireless N connectivity, a microSD card slot and Android 2.1 (Eclair) platform – with a possible upgrade path for Honecomb – running on board. There’s also a direct access to Google’s Android Market, which is definitely a positive thing, and all in all the complete package will run you for $220 and not a single penny more.

Ainol Honeycomb Tablet Sprouts Out In The Wild

We haven’t seen a whole lot of Ainol stuff lately, but luckily the guys over at MP4 Nation did manage to spot this brand new Honeycomb tablet which is believed to be launching sometime next month. As far as hardware goes, the whitish device which packs an ARM Cortex A9 processor on board, is basically a low-end started slate with a very thick chassis and a 1,280 x 800 IPS display with an unknown size on the top. Other then that, for an undetermined price tag, we’re also likely to find WiFi and 3G connectivity, HDMI out, a set of hard buttons on the right side of the screen bezel and a microSD card slot, to read your media files wherever you go. Who’s up for it?

Motorola Xoom Officially Live On Verizon (Update: Also in Germany and The UK)

For the last few months we have been talking and writing a lot about the Motorola Xoom, and now it’s all official at Verizon, available for grabbing for $799.99 off-contract sans Adobe flash support, or $599.99 with a two-year commitment package. The 1GHz dual-core-powered device which packs Google’s latest and greatest Android Honeycomb platform will be available on Best Buy’s shelves later today, but the 4G LTE feature, which many of you are probably waiting for, will show up for an update in 3 months or so, free of charge. The bad news is that we’re still required to pay considerable amount of money for an off contract slate, but the good ones are that Motorola has changed its WiFi lockdown policy, and customers who are willing to pay 800 bucks for the tablet, will now no longer need to register for a one month Verizon data plan (additional $20). Thank god!

Update: UK retailer PC World has just listed the 10.1-inch Honeycomb-powered Motorola Xoom for online pre-order, with 10% off at checkout compared to the $800 price we’ve already seen Stateside. That means the Brits will have to shell out only £580, which are roughly about $980, in order to get the Tegra 2 Xoom device, with 32GB of storage, sans 3G connectivity, or £480 (about $785) for the WiFi only version. Meanwhile, German’s biggest telecom company T-Mobile, has published its own 3G-enabled Xoom pricing, which stands at €699.95 – starting mid-late April. Full PR after the break.

MSI WindPad 100W and 100A Tablets Officially Introduced

We’ve first seen them back in June as the WindPad 100 and 110, and now at CES 2011, they will actually come out as the WindPad 100W and WindPad 100A, as MSI recently announced it. And while there’s really nothing new in terms of design, spec wise there seems to be signs of great improvement (though it still feels a bit sluggish). As said, this is going to be another addition to MSI’s 10-inch portfolio of Windows 7 and Android slates, which due to ship within three months or so. The first model, the WindPad 100W, is said to sport a 1.66GHz Atom Menlow Z530 CPU along with 2GB of RAM, 32GB SSD and Windows 7 OS on board. While the second, which boasts an Android platform under the lid, together with a full Android Market access, packs a ARM Cortex A8 chip, paired with 1GB of RAM, duo webcams, HDMI out, SD card and USB ports. Dell Streak 7 Finally Gets Official, With Dual-Core Tegra 2 and Android Froyo On Board

Of course we’ve already seen Dell tease us all with its upcoming 7-inch Android tablet, back in September. But today we finally get a chance to see a real unit of Dell’s production model, this time with a few more details, worth knowing, attached and the oh-so-not-surprising “Streak 7” moniker. And while availability or pricing are still particularly vague – excluding the rumors that indicate a release “in the coming weeks” – other specifications include an Android 2.2 platform (and potentially upgrade to 3.0?), paired with a Gorilla Glass-protected touchscreen, 16GB of storage, a 1.3MP front-facing camera (plus 5mp on the back) and a powerful 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor to improve your overall graphics and let you watch high-res content on board. Fujitsu’s Unnamed Windows 7 Slate To Include Intel Oak Trail CPU Inside (Update: Stylistic Q550)

Fujitsu is no stranger to the world of portable devices. As a matter of fact, the company has already released a few of them during the last few months. The latest one, which doesn’t have an official title yet, is said to arrive with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, powered by a Windows 7 platform along with Intel’s new Oak Trail Atom Z670 processor that is capable in providing low battery consumption for a long period of use. Besides that, the 1.5 pound tablet boasts 2GB of RAM, removal battery pack and a pair of VGA webcams, one on each side. Software wise, the device sports a new breed of layer that Fujitsu skinned atop of the Windows 7 OS, but that’s probably the only thing that the company was willing to share at the moment and frankly, we need to know more before committing our limited financial resources. In any case, availability is expected for Q2 of this year, so stay tuned for plenty more to come.

Update: Now that Fujitsu’s 10-inch mystery tablet is finally making its way out to the market, we’re glad to learn that the Windows 7-powered device was finally given a name – and is now known as the Stylistic Q550. And while we’re still unfamiliar with price and availability details, other specs include this aforementioned Oak Trail processor, along with smartcard slot, front and rear cameras, 32GB / 64GB SSD storage at your choice, USB hub, optional 3G connectivity and fingerprint reader for security log. Velocity Micro Busts Out Cruz Tablet L37, P38 and L510 Android Tablets at CES 2011

The Consumer Electronics Show 2011 (CES) is perhaps the best place to introduce your brand new products, especially when it comes to tech and gadgets. Velocity Cruz, a company that has already launched a couple of Android devices before, is one firm that wisely showed up in order to launch and promote its latest and greatest Android tablets lineup, which comprises of three different models: the 7-inch Cruz Tablet L37 that packs a 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen, along with 4GB of storage, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, dual webcams In the back and in the front, a bunch of brightly colored buttons on the left edge, and a a microHDMI output port. Up next, we have the Cruz Tablet P38 that boasts pretty much the same specs, only with a slightly higher screen resolution – a 1024 x 768. and finally, the flagship version, Cruz Tablet L510, that features a 10.1-inch 1366 x 768 display, paired with a 1GHz dual-core processor and NVIDIA’s Tegra 250 chipset for the graphics. Acer’s 10-inch Iconia Tab A500 Android Tablet Officially Unveiled

Remember Acer’s mysterious 10.1-inch android-tablet which we’ve already seen in New York City back in November, last year? Well, there it is, live and kickin’ in NVIDIA’s booth at CES 2011, rising up again – this time with a brand new name – Acer Iconia Tab A500. Generally speaking, this is Acer’s first serious attempt to take on the iPad, and it’s a worthy one, no doubt. With “10 point multitouch” screen, Nvidia Tegra 2 chip, a built-in gyroscope and hopefully, Google’s android Gingerbread running inside, you can’t go wrong, can you? Especially when it’s going to take advantage of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network. As for the UI, we’re looking at “Acer UI 4.5” that the company has skinned atop the the Android OS, while other specs include a bunch of embedded ports such as HDMI out, a full-sized USB plus a micro-USB one, a dock connector on the bottom, and 1080p along with 3D gaming support. Update1: Acer has just confirmed the UK pricing for its forthcoming Iconia Tab A500 tablets lineup and it’s pretty much within the iPad range: The WiFi-only flavors (Windows 7 or Android OS) will run you for £449 each, while the 3G-enabled W500 version will set you back for £529 when it officially gets out in the UK on April 8th. Still no word about the A500 pricing numbers.

Update2: And looks like the US official price is going to be more competitive than we originally thought, or in other words, the 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) Android Honeycomb tablet which boasts a 1GB of RAM along with a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 250 and dual cameras on the back (5MP) and up front (2MP), will set you back for only $450 on Best Buy retail stores while shipping starts on April 24. Let the competition begin!

Update3: It seems that Acer’s new Iconia Tab A500 is finally listed for sale on Best Buy. Apparently, this is the WiFi-only version of Acer’s brand new tablet and it will set you back for $450. In exchange you’re getting all the good specs we’ve already mentioned, including a Tegra 2 chip, paired with a 10.1-inch display, 16GB of storage, USB 2.0 hub and 802.11b/g/n WiFi connectivity.

AOC Breeze Tablet Boasts 8-inch Display and Android 2.1 Platform

The more we’re getting closer to CES 2011, the more we’re going to hear about new products that join the world’s biggest tech celebration. AOC’s 8-inch Breeze is just the latest in that series. The new tablet, which was recently unveiled by one of the largest LED / LCD monitor manufacturers, runs an obsolete Android 2.1 platform within, along with an 800 x 600 screen resolution, and a slew of physical keys, up right, on top of the screen bezel. In addition, there’s a Rockchip chipset inside, paired with 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a battery pack that is claimed to deliver up to 12 hours of audio or 6 hours of video, WiFi connectivity, an internal speaker, and a single USB 2.0 port. Onkyo To Launch a Pair of 10.1-inch Android Tablets with NVIDIA’s Tegra 250 Inside

There is definitely a lot of momentum behind Android tablets these days, and Onkyo is one company seeking to take advantage of the burgeoning blitz. From what we know, their latest revelation, TA117 series, which has no price tag or availability details to share at this point, comprises of two models, namely TA117C3 and TA117C1, that will pack a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 display, NVIDIA’s Tegra 250 chip, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI output, two USB 2.0 ports, and microSD card slot. And while the C1 is claimed to pack 512MB of RAM along with 8GB of storage, its sibling, the C3 flavor, features 1GB of memory, paired with 16GB of NAND, on board. Android Froyo is the dominant OS platform in both versions, but word on the street is that we’re likely to see a Windows 7 support. Stay tuned for even more.

Viliv to Roll Out Two Android-based and One Windows 7-based Tablets at CES 2011

It’s been quite a while since we’ve last heard anything special from Viliv, but with CES 2011 just around the corner in early January, it is rumored to be triple launching a new line of Android/Windows tablets of its own. And while we’re still unfamiliar with pricing or in-depth specs, the header of the following picture, pretty much says it all. In other words, the company will be showing off a couple of Android-based tablets, the X7 and X10, sized at 7-inch and 10.2-inch, respectively, while the third link in that series, the x70, is named by Viliv as the “most slim and light Windows 7 tablet in the world” – Now that’s a one hell of a kick, isn’t it? Regretfully, there’s nothing further to be said at the moment, so stay tuned for a lot  lot more.

Acer’s Android Tablet Gets Demoed on Video

OH! What’s this? Looks like someone has finally managed to put his hands on Acer’s 10.1-inch Android Froyo tablet a lot earlier than expected. While details are still scarce, it appears that the 1GHz dual-core processor machine, which boasts a 1280×800 screen resolution and runs 1080p files stutter free, is having some sort of a new gyro UI that can barely handle preloaded apps for switching between photos, or jumping from one e-reader stuff to another. That said, you’ll have to bare in mind it’s still in a beta stage and that the real thing (which presumably packs Honeycomb OS inside) is likely to run much much better. Motorola Releases a ‘Tablet Evolution’ Teaser, Moments Before CES 2011

With CES 2011 just a couple of weeks away, Motorola is one company that seems to be generating quiet a lot of publicity. Especially when it comes to the company’s future line of tablet machines, which Motorola defines, in a recent video teaser, as the “next chapter in tablet evolution.” Yes, that’s exactly what it’s saying, along with some other interesting stuff such as: good graphics in a portable slate, high durability / flexibility, and high-resolution screen with muli-lingual support. In addition to that, the firm that has brought to the world the BlackBerry phone, is now finding itself head-to-head against some big opponents like Apple or Samsung, and judging by the video, doesn’t appear to be afraid. As a matter of fact, it’s actually mocking them by naming the iPad as a “giant iPhone” or by stating that in practice, the Galaxy Tab runs an Android OS  “for a phone” rather than a suited platform for a tablet device. OH! And this lovely bee that you see at the end…Well, you just never know, there might be an Honeycomb in there, somewhere.

Creative’s Android 2.1 ZiiO Tablet Officially Goes Live

Creative is finally acknowledging publicly the burgeoning trend of reasonably cheap Android 2.x tablets. Although the company is best known for its wide variety of audio players, it was only a matter of time before a commercial launch of such a device (a tablet) would eventually happen – and the sonner, was probably the better! As of this week, the Koreans are finally offering their very own Android 2.1 slate, known as the ZiiO, with a 7-inch 800×400 touchscreen display on top of the lid and a LABS ZMS-08 HD processor, along with 8/16GB of storage, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and a 1.3 megapixels camera, up front. Did we mention cheap? In that case, you should know that the 8GB version is priced at only $249.99, while its bigger brother, the 16GB flavor will cost just $20 more. Will it be a hit or miss for retailers this holiday shopping season? Only time will tell.

Dell Now Selling Unlocked Streak Devices In the US With Android Froyo On Board

It’s been susptected and rumored, but now it’s offical. As of today, Dell is finally offering through its US online store a number of unlocked Streak devices, preloaded with Android 2.2 OS and different types of hard drive storage forms. There’s a 16GB Carbon Black version, now being offered unlocked for $579.99, or the same device only with 32GB of internal memory that will run you in exchange for $678.99 – and not a single extra dime. We’re still unsure exactly whether the cards themselves are locked to AT&T SIM only, or perhaps come fully compatibile with most other 3G networks. One way or another, it sure feels good having Google’s latest Android Froyo tossed inside, and for this matter, there are many different reasons that will backup this assertion: Whether it’s the pinch-to-zoom attraction, the 3G hotspot creation, a USB tethering usability or Adobe’s Flash playback support. And it’s all happening on a 5 -inch pocketable device, remember?

Velocity Micro’s Android Cruz Tablet Is Finally Ready For a Shipping

Just as promised, the 7-inch Velocity Cruz is finally out and ready for the masses. And while you shouldn’t expect too much, performance wise, from a $299 slate, still it will cost you a whole lot cheaper getting it, rather than any other similar device – and from our perspective, it could easily be a good value over price. After all, don’t forget that you’re getting a very responsive capacitive display in here, instead of those sluggish and not so friendly resistive touchscreen ones. Regretfully, you’ll have to settle with an Android 2.0 version, with no direct access to Google’s Android Market inside (there’s a Cruz Market which seems pretty limited compared to well established online hubs). Yet, the slate itself does offer 512MB of RAM, 12GB of storage, WiFi, stereo speakers, 10 hours of battery and a mini-USB port, to take on a ride. Sylvania To Roll Out a 7-inch Android Tablet For $180

Looking for a low-rate Android tablet bargain? Make sure to check out Sylvania’s 7-inch Android 2.1 device, now being offered on Kmart for a mere $179.99. Pretty reasonable price for something that boasts a 7-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen (probably resistive), along with 512MB of RAM, 2GB of Flash memory, WiFi, front-facing webcam and a bunch of desirable ports (such as mini-USB, microSD slot and HDMI out), isn’t it? Not to mention the six-hour battery that is also included inside the package. But that probably won’t change anything for you, knowing that you won’t get any access to Google’s Android Market, eh? Well, we’re just assuming in here, so there’s still a glimpse of hope.

Toshiba’s 10-Inch Folio 100 Tablet Now Available Around Europe

Japanese electronic giant Toshiba has purportedly started rolling out its latest and greatest Folio 100 tablet across Europe, according to official PR announcement, delivered after the break. Toshiba had promised it would roll out the Android Froyo slate in the continent before the end of the year, and seems to be sticking to its promise. The 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen device which will retail for €399 for WiFi only version or up to €529 for the 3G-enabled one (available Q1 2011), comes fully equipped with NVIDIA’s new ARM SOC chipset, along with 16GB of internal storage, mini-HDMI output, USB hub, SD card reader, 1.3 megapixel webcam and Bluetooth version 2.1. Battery wise, you’re looking at a seven hours package and we certainly hope to see this bad boy going live in the US somewhere around holidays time.

Archos 70 Internet Tablet Officially Live For $279

As previously mentioned, Archos has slowly started to roll out its most recent Android tablets/PMPs series with new devices coming out every day, with different form factors but a similar operating system – Android Froyo that is. And while most Archos products to date have carried resistive touchscreens on board, its latest and greatest, Archos 70 tablet, is reportedly packing a 7-inch (800 x 480) capacitive display which hopefully will give you a better and a lot more friendly multitouch experience results. This $279 package offers a powerful 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, along with an OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics accelerator, a front-facing VGA camera, 8GB of flash storage, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity, and microSDHC card slot. Regretfully, there’s no access to Android Market, but the French company is likely to hook you up with the AppLib store – an Android app scene of its own.

ZTE Introduces The 7-inch ZTE Light Android Tablet

We’ve already seen the guys at ZTE trying to innovate their way around the MID section, and now it seem as if they’re trying hard for something that looks good and that specifically designed for the Android tablet low-mid department. With a bright 7-inch touchscreen and a Google Android 2.1 platform running under its rounded lid, the ZTE Light is definitely an eye catcher. And while we’re still unfamiliar with pricing, the Light which is rumored to be out pretty soon, has  some pretty darn good features to be proud of. For instance, it boasts an integrated GPS system along with a card reader, WiFi, 3G connectivity and battery pack delivering up to 10 hours of work. Samsung Galaxy Tab To Cost $399 on Contract (Update: Verizon and Sprint Plans added)

Samsung has been very elusive and secretive about its pricing plans for the Galaxy Tab, but if the following T-Mobile slide should be proven to be real, then we’re looking at a $399 done deal tablet. Of course, you’ll have to sign-up for a new 2-year contract with the US carrier in order to get into a subsidized package, otherwise it would cost you a whopping $649.99 and would probably hurt your “already-empty” pockets.

Update1: US carrier Verizon has just announced that it will begin selling the new Samsung Android Galaxy Tab for $599.99, starting November 11th. Of course, if you want “data plans” then get ready to pay more – about $20 per month for 1GB – but for those who are using standard WiFi connection, a “few hundred bucks” looks like an insane amount of money one should be paying for. Update2: All right, folks, it looks like we’ve got ourselves a competition here, with a third US carrier, Sprint, to officially confirm its Samsung’s Galaxy Tab availability dates and prices, which for some “strange” reason look suspiciously similar to T-Mobile’s offer . The meaning is that Sprint is planning to charge $399 for the 7-inch Android Froyo tablet, along with a two-year compulsory contract (comprised from either a 2GB of data plan for $29.99 and a 5GB for $59.99) or $599.99 for take-and-go buyers, starting November 14th.

Update3: On the same note, rumor has it that Best Buy is going to sell a “WiFi-only” Galaxy Tab (no obligation) for $499.99 along with a black 3G model (Verizon) and a silver 3G model (Sprint) – both require either a 2 years contract or month-to-month plans.

Update4: T-Mobile just updated that the selling of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab will officially start on November 10th with prices at $399.99 on a two years contract, or $599.99 for those who’d like to buy and go. Full PR after the break.

OpenPeak’s 7-Inch Android 2.2 Tablet Officially Unveiled

OpenPeak unveils a new 7-inch touch-screen device (AKA: OpenTablet 7) which runs an Android 2.2 (Froyo) platform on board and packs Intel’s powerful Moorestown chipset under the hood. And while licensing issues prevent users from getting access to Android Market or Google Apps, there seems to be plenty of gadgets-junkies willing to pay the price – which according to various sources ranged from $300 to $400 before it gets subsidized. What else in there? 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G connectivity and 5mp camera are all included inside. Availability is yet to be determined (somewhere around Q1 2011), but a quick hands-on video is just after the jump.

Archos 32 Android Internet Tablet Officially Breaks Cover

So Archos has a new “internet tablets” lineup, and the first model to roll out in the coming days will be the 3.2-inch Archos 32 – a mini tablet and a media player hybrid which runs for $149.99 and offers a 400 x 240 touchscreen display (resistive) that packs underneath an 800MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, along with 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, G-sensor, and Android 2.2 for the OS. Formats support is apparently pretty impressive and battery is claimed to deliver up to 24 hours of audio and 6, in case you’re just interested in watching videos. stay tuned for more updates from Archos.

Think there’s a room for yet another Android tablet in your hearts? How about the latest 7-inch Android Froyo slate that Amazon is offering for pre-order at $370? No, it’s not as popular as Apple’s iPad or Samsung’s GalaxyTab but hey, it’s much cheaper than others and StreamTV , the company that has recently brought it Stateside, is promising a lot of goodies inside. And while it won’t come preloaded with Google apps on board, the slick 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen device still worth a try. Why? Because it packs this powerful 1GHz Tegra II-720 processor that will run games and 1080p HD videos stutter free. Besides that, it also packs a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera, an SD card slot, WiFi, USB and HDMI ports – isn’t that cool? HP’s 7-Inch Zeen C510 Android Tablet Sprouts Out In The Wild

It’s probably too early to tell; at this point (pre-production stage) you can only rely on fishy rumors and murky tipsters to share. But as you may know, good news spread around pretty fast these days and someone, close enough to HP manufacturing division, apparently knows that pretty well. So what is it all about, you may ask? A new HP tablet – nothing that you haven’t already heard about, except the acknowledged unit (which was recently emerged in Asia) appears to be a near final 7-inch Zeen C510 Android 2.1 tablet – yes, an ANDROID tablet which is rumored to be part of a $399 printer bundle. And while there’s not much info about the hardware, software wise you get an integrated Email client along with Facebook, 60 Minutes, MSNBC, and Dreamworks apps preloaded as well. Oh, and there’s a printing app too, in case you wondered. Regretfully, it won’t go live solo, just bundled with this new HP PhotoSmart eStation C510 printer, but the price is pretty convenient, isn’t it?

Update1: HP just gone official with its latest Photosmart eStation printer which bundles a 7-inch Android 2.1 tablet inside and features a special customized Yahoo layer on top of the OS. And no, there is no access to Android Market, in case you wondered, no Gmail support and no special dedicated games included. Instead, you are likely to have a slew of Yahoo apps and widgets already preloaded, while Android 2.2 version is said to be released somewhere towards the holiday season. Hardware wise, there is a wifi connection on both machines (printer and tablet) and battery is claimed to deliver four to six continuous hours. Olive Pad VT100 Android Tablet Breaks Cover In India (Update: With Video)

India is about to join the world on that super-cool Android tablets trend, with local company, Olive Telecom announcing its first 3.5G Android 2.1 tablet, also known as the Olive Pad VT100, and claimed to go live in India somewhere next month, for prices range between Rs.20000 to Rs.25000, or about $425 to $530 in US Dollars. And while we can’t be certain about a US release, Indian geeks will most likely enjoy holding it with both hands and surf the net on that nice looking 7-inch (800 x 480) capacitive touchscreen. Other than that, this neat and not-too-shabby gadget is said to include 512MB of internal memory, paired with a 3MP rear camera, an SD card slot, mini USB hub, a 3,240mAh battery, Bluetooth, WiFi, an integrated compass and last but not least, a G-sensor support. So yes, it’s a fascinating slate-smartphone hybrid device. From one side, not too small to hold it close to your ear and talk, but from the other, big enough to consume internet content and multimedia videos on the go. PR after the break.

Update: It looks like Indian television show TechGuru has managed to get one of Olive Telecom’s $500 7-inch capacitive touchscreen device and put together a decent comparison with Apple’s 9.7-inch magical iPad wonder. With a 600MHz ARM processor, tucked with 512MB of internal memory, a 3mp built-in camera, microSD slot, Google Android for the OS and optional 3G WWAN connection placed in the back of the box, the Indian slate scores 4 points while Steve Jobs’ slick baby boy gets 6 out of the entire toll. SmartQ T7 and T7-3G Android Based Tablets Introduced

What’s this? Another Android tablets? Yes, and you’re going to see a plenty of them coming out in the next couple of months, plenty. The latest news in this hot and highly evolving category comes from Chinese manufacturer SmartQ, that seems to have two brand new android 2.1 tablets to offer for local merchants. First one in this series is the SmartQ T7, which comes equipped with a fast 720MHz processor, along a 7-inch 800×600 touchscreen display, a WiFi connectivity and 4,700mAh battery – all priced for ¥1,480 (about $220) in Asian markets. The second one, the T7-3G, which boasts pretty much the same impressive components that basic T7 model would offer, adds a cellular connection to its line of features and said to be valued at ¥1,880 (about $280) for the EVDO version and ¥1,980 (about $29o) for the WCDMA style. Both flavors are said to come out later this year, with no hint for western distribution in the foreseeable future, but with nice range of HD video files support.

ezGear SurfBoard 700 Hops on the Android Tablets Bandwagon

Tablets, tablets, tablets…that’s probably what you’ve all been hearing about in the past six month, haven’t you? If so, ezGear – a US based company – personally wants you to hear about their brand new Android-power tablet as well. From what we know, their latest revelation, Surfboard 700, which has no price tag or availability details to share at this point, will pack a RockChip’s RK2818 chipset, together with a 7-inch WVGA touchscreen, WiFi, 2MP camera, an HDMI output, a microSD card slot, USB 2.0 hub and dual stereo speakers onboard. And while inner Android OS version is yet to be determined (either Android 1.6 or hopefully Froyo 2.2), the battery pack that comes along with the slate, is claimed to deliver up to 20hrs of music playback or 9hrs of video- pretty cool, isn;t it? Now c’mon ezGear, give us a good price to satisfy our not-so-deep pockets, and we’re sold.

Update: Apparently, ezGear will start shipping somewhere around September of this year.

Cisco Cius Android Tablet Announced, Aims To Take Over The Growing Business Market

Network giant Cisco just announced a new business oriented tablet called Cius. Basically, it’s a 7-inch (800×600 touchscreen resolution) tablet which apparently runs a Google Android OS inside and packs a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, along some other cool components, including a 32GB of internal storage, a battery with up to 8-hour of working time, Wi-Fi, 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, one micro-USB port and last but not least, a 720p front-facing HD camera, supporting 5MP at 30 frames per second. Google Tablet Is Rumored To Go Out Sometime This Year Via Verizon

Details scarce at the moment, but the way it looks, it seems that Google’s plan to have its own personal Android tablet has taken few giant steps forward  if World Street Journal’s sources are to be taken at face value. And even though we’re still lack of any concrete information about viable name, look, prices or even availability, an increased competition between Apple and Google in the tablets arena is presumably inevitable, and might render the relationship between the two companies somewhat more acrimonious. In any case, according to recent WSJ report, Verizon’s CEO said that his company is seeking for a tablet and that their working on something with Google:

“We’re looking at all the things Google has in its archives that we could put on a tablet to make it a great experience.”

Well, that leaves no room for doubt regarding a future Google tablet, does it? Whether it will be offered for everyone or as part of a carrier package, run Chrom OS or Android, Include a 3G support or just a WiFi connectivity – Many of these questions will take time to answer. Aigo’s 7-inch N700 Tablet Announced, Boasts Android 2.1 and Tegra 2 Chipset Inside

Another day another tablet. This time it’s the newly born Aigo N700 (also branded as Compal NAZ-10), a 7-inch 800 x 480 multitouch machine, powered by Google’s Android 2.1 platform running with a powerful 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor inside and priced attractively, at $300 only. This handsome piece of craft plays 1080p videos stater-free thanks to Nvidia’s Tegra 2 graphics chipset planted within its bowels, along an HDMI output to pump vids out or the 4/16/32GB capacities you can choose from, to store things onboard. Other than that, it packs a microSD slot expansion, a USB port, WiFi, optional 3G WWAN connection and what appears to be a nice tiny webcam, built to the the left, on front. No idea whether it would go outside the Chinese boundaries, but it sure looks like a great device that can definitely rock.

Dell’s Leaked Roadmap Photo Reveals More Netbooks/Tablets Coming This Summer

Looks like known Android-powered slabs such as the 5-inch Streak and 7-inch Looking Glass tablet, are not the only ones that Dell is planning to launch at full scale this very busy summer. In fact, according to a roadmap image acquired by Android Central guys exclusively, the Texan corp appears to have plenty more goodies, safely kept and well hidden under its dark out-of-range garner. And this ain’t a Dell fanboy talking trash, you know, this is something real, something concrete, that most geek audience should lend an ear to. This time, we have two Moblin devices ready to break cover and go under the spotlight in early and late Autumn. The first, known as the Sparta netbook tablet, packs an 11-inch 1024 x 768 display, paired with ARM Cortex processor, along with a special swivel base and a batch of optional connections, including WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G WWAN. The second in this session is the 0.9kg Athens “true” netbook, boasting that same similar ingredients its Sparta sibling has, like the aforementioned ARM processor and those several optional connectivity modules. This one however tucked with a non-swivel 11-inch platform. The third in that page, is the 7-inch Looking Glass Pro Android tablet which appears to be exactly like Dell’s neat Looking Glass Android tablet, spotted by engadget folks, couple days before. And then, there’s another one in this class, the LG Pro, which features premium components like advanced “HD screen” and digital TV tuner on top of the very basic fare. Finally, and most exciting for us on a personal level, is the 5-inch Streak, which according to this document suppose to come out in three different lanes: the US T-Mobile and European Vodafone versions, slated for this summer as well, while Chinese flavors are set for a Q4 release under all major carriers. Moonse’s 7-Inch E-7001 Tablet Runs Android, Behaves Like an iPad

As we inch closer to everyone’s favorite launching season, here’s yet another “look-like-iPad” tablet that recently emerged in the wild, courtesy of Moonse. It’s Chinese, boasts a 7-inch 800×480 capacitive touchscreen, running Android 1.5 edition on top and components like WiFi, SD card slot (up to 32GB) and one USB port, under the hood. Regretfully it lacks HDMI. The battery is said to survive up to 5 hours of work, while CPU is most likely to be a 600MHz Rockchip RK2808, but might, just might change to the stronger Cortex-A8 processor, moments before the very first edition goes out to the pond, carrying only 0.7 pounds of weight (half the size of an iPad), and priced at ONLY 900 Chinese yuan or $130 in western dough.
